I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old DOHC Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree
I have similar emotions as Scheimann...I live abroad and miss SA every day, I had many old Alfas which I still miss (Guilia's, 1600GTJunior etc.). I am actually considering to get a 1970 to 1972 1750 GTV in SA to be there for when I return one day! Nowadays I play with Porsches and will likely post a few clips of them.
Breaks my heart.....not only to see the alfa 1750gt junior, but south africa....the land where i was born....i no longer live there...i can say i had one of the nicest and 100%original alfa1750gt junior´s - untill my cousin decided to put it "off the road"...Alfa fans, you guys definately have GOOD TASTE!!! To Mr Andrea Pininfarina - rest in Peace
