  • @qRUKIp it's just a live cover, no album. Great song and great cover by Finch, shame about the quality though would be awesome as a studio cover.

  • send me a download for this please

  • like a poor mans pumpkins rendition

  • -___-'''

  • the song is great.... but i think his vocal capabilities at 3:35 got killed..... but still nice song and great cover. i love the arrangement.

  • sure it's dramatic but they sound like he's getting massacred in some parts

  • pretty good i liked it. i mean obviously the sound was crap but yeah if it gets recorded right it'll be tight

  • it's good, but yeah.. the original is way better

  • wow! super cool! ..

  • Awesome, they definately should do a studio recording of this.

  • I've always loved their cover of this song.

  • good attempt, a better recording would make it alot better but still pretty good stuff

  • I agree, the lack of equipment/bad sound quality really robbed from the performance.

  • Best attempt at a U2 cover. . . .by ANY band. . .

    Even if it is a demo/garage recording. . . .well thought out and arranged. . . .

  • this cover is fucking brilliant

  • i like how dirty sounds! it's a great cover

  • omg i <3 it haha

  • Think this is just fucking awesome. love the garage sound

  • I'm not sure sure this is Finch. Is it?

  • it is finch.... i have the album.... with the DEMOs...

  • no not in anyway

  • go to a real recording studio and we have pure awsomness

  • Finch are great but U2 do this sooooo much better, sorta ruin it. It was like wen Elvis covered Green Green Grass of Home.........Didnt sound right

  • I think this is amazing. It's so different to the original, but atleast nobody can say they are just copying U2.

  • Horrible mix, and they change at the wrong times.

  • Can't you hear? It's a demo!!!

  • love finch but it sounds horrible

  • i think this is really good just the recording isnt great and the vocals are too quiet in the beginning.

  • Vocals are too low in the mix.

  • God this version sucks. Isn't perfect, needs quality. Kinda like the arrangement though

  • fuck off ! terrible is rnb, this band had talent ! maybe not the best cover 1 you wanna do it 1 big time !

  • fucking hell who gives a fuck

listen to the song and enjoy it fuckers

  • anyone know where i can download this? PM me x

  • Well, I like this better than the original version. Though, I do hate U2...

  • haha same here

  • Do you even know what music is?

If you did, you'd know that U2 is gods, and nobody could possibly hate them...

Finch is an okay band though... And its an okay cover, thinking about the fact that its blasphemy to cover a U2 song

  • I assure you, I know music. Perhaps I just learned it in a different way?

However I am entitled to my opinion and thank you for sharing yours.

  • Perhaps you know about music ( me too), so youl´ll agree with my opinion: this band sucks!!!!!!!!

  • Nononononon. Dudessss. C'mon, this is really good! Hear the way his voice melds to the lyrics, he becomes one with the music. The music is amazing. THe words(although they're U2) are beautiful in their essence.

Let me state: I LOVE Finch, k?

  • finch is one of the most original bands ever duech,, your so called musical knowlege is garbage.....any band that covers U2 has courage and guts...somthing you prob dont

  • U2 can suck my balls

  • u changed it too much, i have when somebody change tu much original version of the song

  • lol, emo is a shorter term from "emo punk," a genre that was spearheaded by blink182. they moved punk from it's political and hardcore roots and into poppy romance. they combine this with vocals that have exaggerated diction, sounding as if they are about to cry, hence the "emo" descriptor. after blink182 came bands like MXPX. then good charlotte, then MCR. this then led to "Scream-o" like The Used, because some ppl wanted a harder sound without the commitment to darker themes in metal.

  • You're a moron. Emo used to be a subgenre of hardcore punk. Emotional hardcore does not exist anymore. Blink 182 and MXPX are pop punk. Neither of those bands sang about emotions or with whiney vocals. You do RESEARCH on facts before you state them. Good Charlotte is pop rock. There is no genre of music named "screamo" This word was created by record labels because immature teenagers buy into words and labels. This is the same reason "emo" was popularised. The Used are post-hardcore.

  • Aren't most lyrics generated from some sort of emotion? I think the whole concept of one band being more "emotional" than another is purely idiotic.

  • The Smiths were the first "EMO" band.

  • ...pretty sure they weren't but hey, if you consider the smiths emo then maybe they were...

  • The 'emo' term was, unfortunately, always a marketing label, first used to describe a number of 80s hardcore bands. At the time, the sound was very well-defined, and the term could have actually been meaningful, but it's been abused so much that it's a useless desscriptor.

  • All music is emotionally driven, and by most biased people's poor definition, all music should rightfully be considered 'emo'. However not all music is; it becomes very obvious that maybe this isn't really a word that should be used to describe a musical style. All "emo" artists fall under other genres that would better suit what they do (Post/hardcore, Alternative rock, Indie, etc.) "Emo" is a nasty generalization and fuels unnecessary biases that only close minds off to what music really is.

  • Thank you for being an intelligent person. Will you marry me? (If you're a girl forget it.)

  • delolover08 suck my cock asshole!!!!!!!!!!11

  • i'm going to vomit on the next person who incorrectly uses the term 'emo'

  • emo = toaster ovens

    vomit time!

  • bleeeeehhhhhhhhhh

    there you go!

  • well played

  • finch suck

  • U2 is NOT emo

  • finch is NOT emo.

  • Kudos!

  • @jy9626 They're clearly derivative of first wave emo and post-hardcore bands like Thursday. You can hear the influence, whether intentional or not, of bands like Fugazi, Mineral etc.

Great first album, What It Is To Burn.

  • @jy9626 wtf are you talking about? finch and funeral for a friend are probably the 2 most emo bands of the early 00's.

people just think emo is having stupid hair and wearing eyeliner, its not.

  • @jy9626 last time i checked every band is emo since emo = emotion and every band has a emotion

  • @yankeefan86

A massive misconception that people make is that Emo mean emotion. It actually means emotive. Rites of Spring and Embrace(for modern reference) are examples of such. Everyone is ignorant in regards to music anyway. Fuck people.

  • and btw, usually a bands first album is the ONLY album that is actually THEIRS. after they get signed they become whores who are forced to write in order to fulfill their contracts.

  • You've got a bit of a point there.

U2 thought, are not like that...

  • i like finch, but they are certainly not hardcore mate. you have lost your mind. despite that fact, very nice cover.

  • fuck the emos...why?why? just fucked with the song.

  • I kinda agree... Definitely not an outstanding performance.

  • yeah pretty much like nobody can do it like bono. all these emo bands are so bad these days. i hate it

  • bono sucks dick haha. U2 is lame as fuck. and yes I agree that this cover sucks, but goddamn U2 blows horribly anyways.. Old cheap ass 80s band.

  • Dude how can you live with yourself? They are so amazing.

  • first off there is no such a thing as emo now a days, the genres are so fucking diverse genres are no longer valid in modern music, and Finch is absolutly not emo, perhaps you should look in on a band before insulting them, Finch is a hardcore rock band (if anything) but I don't like giving them a genre because they create their own, yes What it is to Burn was a little trite but it was their first album, and whos first album is their owns anyway? listen to their more modern stuff before judging

  • Sorry, hardcore band, but don't cry please.

  • It figures that you would assume that I am emo just because I am defending this band, you are pathetic, don't open your mouth and talk about somthing you know absolutly nothing about, you make yourself look like a fool

  • umm yeah this cover does suck rather a lot and it sounds like it was recorded on a mobile phone.

but there is actually NO reason to insult the band! go listen to A Man Alone before you insult them.

ok, theyre not hardcore, but you can at least give them Post-hardcore or melodramatic rock

    jeez, learn about MUSIC!

  • i jkust don't like emo bands covering my fucking prefered band, if you noobs say that this band are not emo, you don't know nothing about rock n' roll, i can not be quiet with something like that, tomorow they will be covering (crying) master of puppets, or wholla lota love, i not insulting no one, but this is emocore, and emocore i hate, no one will make quiet me.

  • first off, know anything... not "know nothing" and secondly like I said there is no such a thing as emo, people (like you) just want to group together a huge group of bands, do you even know what emo means? can you name one ofthe band other than this, I bet I could prove that you are wrong, and besides if anything U2 is much more "emo" than finch... they are much more whiney than finch so don't even go there you dumb ass

  • fuck you idiot! never say that U2 is emo, what a scum word, do what you emos want to do, but don't try to play great songs, just to stole the fans of the real rock n' roll, i stop here, and say that u2 is far away from emo, u2 music is about love for the world, is aboutlive every day as a great day, is about justice, is about god, is about spirit, not just about fall as emocore is.

  • First off, if "emo" is such a "scum" word, then why would you be using it to describe a band that is absolutly not "emo" Tell me, have you ever even heard any of Finch's music before this? how dare You even open your damn mouth! You have no idea what Finch stands for, but you call them emo just like all the other ignorent people do, just because you like U2 does NOT make them not emo (I'll pretend it is real for a second) Finch's lead singer writes poetry (now I guess Robert Frost is emo too?)

  • well, you right, use illusion.

  • What does that even mean? what are you talking about?

  • U2 - emo? lol! Emo wasn't "invented" when U2 started. "With Or Without You" is emo? A quite love song?

I don't have a problame with emo music, there are a few good emo bands, but U2 is not emo, it's like saying Dido id death meatel...

  • uhh.. no it is not like calling Dido death metal.. because she sings pop music... and yea! ask anyone is a "quite song about love and rejection" is emo... anyone! don't say the band name because then they would be prejudice to the name.. but don't you see? that is what people call emo now adays... but then I bring up the fact that they are describing U2, and basically every band that writes music, and they don't understand... look define emo for me and I will show you

  • Maybe the lyrics have something about love and rejection in them, but the music isn't emo and the way the song is presented isn't emo. Plus, it's U2, I don't know if it's a simple love song between a man and a woman and not some kind of a religious song

  • so what makes a band Emo? first off, and secondly, you have no idea what the lyrics are about... the lyrics are the deciding factor wiether or not the band is emo, so you should not even be arguing with me, if you don't think the lyric "I can't live with our without you" is not emo, then what the hell is? he might as well say "my heart bleeds without you" which is an concidered an "emo" lyric. It is the same thing, and the more people understand that the less I have to argue this freaking point

  • I know what the lyrics of the song are, I say that I'm not sure Bono wrote this song about a man and a woman from what I hard, that it's a religious song. I remember reading that but I don't remember what they say it was about.

U2 is my favortie band and I've been listening to them to them for more then 8 years so believe me I know a thing or 2 about them.

A song like "With Or Without" that was written in the 80's, maybe is a song with a emotions, like most of the songs, but it's not Emo.

  • well you just contradicted yourself, because that is what emo is, lyricsal content with emotion, any one else that says it is a song with just powerchords is stupid because if they knew a thing or two about music they would know that almost all rock music is based off that, and just because they are your favorite band does not make them somthing that they aren't

Why don't you give me a few reasons how they are not emo?

  • I gave you. Emo wasn't invented when U2 started. Emo only started a few years ago. You can say anyone is Emo if you look at it that way. Damien Rice is Emo, Coldplay are Emo, Leonard Cohen is Emo.

  • well Cohen is from about the same time as U2, and he is only experimental/techno type music, Damian Rice is Folk music, and Coldplay is the same genre as U2, it is slow music and sometimes it is about sad things so if Coldplay is "emo" then so is U2, but if I had to cadigorize them I would say Coldplay was alternative popish-slow rock music. How about this, the Sexpistols came out before punk music was invented, and yet people always call them punk, why? because punks definition fit them perfect

  • oh I'm sorry I must have read it too fast, but anyway The Sexpistols came out before punk rock, and yet they are still concidered punk, it doesn't matter what time they came out, I mean time just helps prove what the genre is, what we concider rock and roll today is much different from what they concidered it when Elvis came out. And I never actually meant that U2 was emo, I am just saying that Finch is not, there is no way to prove somthing is emo, it is not a real genre

  • I believe emo first began in the 80's.

But I hate the term, been over used, killed a genre.

  • i like their cover and breathe carolina's cover.

  • wow its cool!! i like his natural voice unlike the emos shitty small faking voice just kiddin'

  • ahahahahhahhaha!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i like finch,but not this

  • 3 stars

  • amazing cover

  • not the best quality, but i like it.

  • Thats not live its a Demo
