Man where the hell do people get all this crap "The lyrics were made for Dianno" or some bullshit? Steve did not write exclusively for Paul, he wrote it with punk influence in mind which happened to fit Dianno's singing. You Dianno fanboys are too mad to admit that Bruce did a much better job. And no, Im not a faboy for Bruce. Maiden is Maiden but when it comes to these videos you guy ignore the existence of the rest of the band and only focus on the singer.

He's one of the best bassists I've ever heard. Too much focus on who's the frontman. Blaze doesn't count because I'm pretty sure no one cares. Bruce can sing the stuff wrote for him great, but he is atrocious when it comes to D'ianno era material. Judging by this show and the 'audition' songs out there, I'm shocked they ever chose him. Obviously it was the right choice and 'Arry must have had extremely keen future-seeking vision.

Emi did. when the band was in tour in scandinavia on august 1981 rod smallwood, manager of maiden from EMI ,put out Di anno and took Dickinson. he said it to dickinson before the concert of samson at reading on august 1981. it said dickinson was very happy of course, and he opened a champagne bottle after samson's concert. you can find that video. research samson reading 1981. you can see bruce jumping on stage....lol.

It makes me think at all those people who criticize Blaze for not having the vocal ranges to sing Maiden-Bruce songs...Here, it's obvious that the way Bruce sings Purgatory doesn't fit to the spirit of the song and equal the version with Di Anno. Anyway, Bruce was the best singer for Maiden (and still is). And Blaze and Paul were great too.Blaze has become now a fantastic songwriter, vovalist and stageperformer with the Blaze Bayley Band.

no, I haven't, I must admit. My uncle was an Iron Maiden fan in the 1980's and his LP (not CD) collection is quite impressive. That's how I got to know Iron Maiden. Man, they were strong then! As for their newer songs, I only know 1 or 2 from Youtube, but they seem to be softer now. Of course only my personal opinion and no disrespect.

It is pointless to try to compare Iron Maiden's various singers - Paul,Bruce,Blaze and then Bruce again.

Under each singer it was a complelely different band,expecially early on.

They refined their direction musically - But the one thing that never changed was the Songwriting and their ability to play a concert like no other band.

I like the way Bruce sings Man on the edge live. I also enjoyed the Paul years but, I became a die hard fan with Live after Death and I went out and bought their back catalog. For me 1980 to 1988 they were unstoppable ! They could do no wrong. I still enjoy Bruce better sorry folks.
