  • Es una lástima la calidad tan horrible!...No he visto a Urey en muchos años!!! Soy ex integrante de la orquesta ;)!! Mis mejores deseos para ti y Urey!

  • and im playing it for my auditions as well lol. i play euphonium but try to mimic the horn sound and sound sound of horn on euphonium is just amazing.

  • okay i have a question how common is it for a euphonium player to read in messo soprano?

  • as a horn player (screenname can be misleading) i am playing this concerto for an audition and it is very difficult and i give major props to whoever played that solo...

  • Hey im playing this for my auditions too!

  • Give the soloist credit for taking the piece at the fast tempo. Tip to horn players-- the entire concerto can be played lightly and clearly on the Bb side of the horn. Yes, hold the trigger down all the way!

  • Yes! That's exactly what I do, it is very good to play it like that :)

  • yea and be sharp throughout the whole thing!

  • Are you joking? The Bb side can be played in tune in any range. The principal horn of the BBC Symphony plays on Bb single.

  • no no no.

sure the notes might come out a little easier, but you really don't want to sound honky.

  • Agree. With practice and attention to tone, the Bb side can sound pleasant. Consider that many professional horn players in Europe play on single Bb horns.

  • As a fellow Horn Player This was Very well done I can only think of one part that was a little rough but still that was a very good job this is a tough peace.

  • long live mozart the 4 mozart´s horn concerts are trully simple but with a beautiful melody that directs the listener once again to extasy

  • To all you guys who are hating on this guy I love to see your recording of this piece. At least he has someone who believes he can be something. You don't just ask to be a soloist you get picked. So shut up.

  • thank you! I appreciate your comment... I would hope all the viewers would stay attached only to what they hear and not to criticize in a bad and poisonous way! thank you again

  • This was the first one I learned. Actually the 2nd easiest of the mozart concertos. Intonation is very bad, so are clarity of articularions. Trills are clean though.I had no problems with finger combinations. Strauss is much harder.

  • The intonation is likely due to poor recording quality.

The dynamics could use some work. And horn player, you've probably heard this a million times, but 16th notes *must* speak.

But you do have spectacular trills

    Excellent job!

  • Nice trills ^.^ intonation can use some work

  • where is this played?

    and yeah

    the intonation

    is very very bad

but it is forgiven because it is hard to tell because of the sound quality.

    soz

  • intonation is terrible, but because the kids are so young it doesnt matter so much

  • Yes... The particular Strauss you happen to be studying is harder. Let me ask you this : Does Mozart suck? What would you do if you were a composer? Strauss and Mozart were just like you. They played lousy old composer garbage they hated to hear (let alone play) and decided to play something new and different and original. Make something new . Play your instrument! See what happens..Your opinion is your opinion and it's correct.%$#@ what anyone else says!

  • im 13 and currently doin my grade 7 horn, the thing with this concerto is that if you dont get the articulation right it sounds sloppy and lazy, also sound quality on vid isnt very good. i agree with dcmr, strauss is harder.

  • Im sorry but im a french horn player and this was the first concerto O learned upon becoming advanced. I think he has a good tone quality but he is extremely sloppy in parts and lacks the correct articulations. The finger combinations arent THAT hard. The strauss is much harder.

  • Every horn player knows that its impossible to play this very concerto totally flawless.

  • I am comparing it to the other horn concertos Mozart created. This is by far not the most challenging by any means, but the finerings are a little more on the awkward side when compared to the 2nd and third. just a lot more play with the Thumb 2-3 combonation

  • What other concertos are you comparing it to when you say it isnt that easy to play?

It is also not terribly challenging played naturally, but i prefer it on a modern horn, as the semiquavers tend to sound much clearer.

  • lol.... sorry for the grammer

  • This concerto is actually a little more technical on the modern horn.. I cant see his hand to know if he is doing lip trills or not, if he is the are very good. lol for those that are saying this is not a technical concerto try it The wasy is was originally played, Natural horn... then say its not technical. :-) yes I have played it both ways

  • To those horn players out there that think this is not hard, it isnt (even though i still heard multiple splits in this recording). The mozarts arent technically difficult, but try playing whats NOT on the page.

Also, to the conductor, have you thought about taking it a tiny bit faster and beating it in 2?

  • MENEER REMANS, naha. Dit is van MO. :')

  • is that alfonso bustamante when he was younger cause i met both of them which the older one was my private lesson teacher when i lived in bolivia for a few onths durring the summer

  • none of them is Alfono Bustamante... at least not that I know, which is the one that you thought Alfonso was?

  • I think so too, this conzert isn really difficult..i am 14 years old and a girl, i played it yet!

  • Great job. Very nice!

  • This is great! I just wish the audio quality was better on the recoding!

  • thank you so much, I will go on december again and I promise something better!! Thank you for your comments

  • usted echele cabronazos no se me raje!! un abrazote!!

  • good job

  • thank you so much, I hope you have enjoyed it as much as I did whule conducting it!

  • who is the soloist?

  • His name is Urey David Mestra Bravo, and he is one of the best horn players at his age he is only 24 now.

I think he played with no hesitation at all, and he made an amazing job

  • If he is one of the best players of his age, then what is he doing playing Concerto #1? It's not too difficult of a piece... I'm 15 and I've played the 1st Concerto...

  • thank you for your comment, keep playing! and get better at it
