  • @JustAnotherGaian If you think that this is a message that says that mormons are normal you missed it. Who would turn down a million and a half dollar contract to play their favorite sport to instead live in a small 12 by 12 room for two years with your only mode of transportation being your feet?

  • Good for you!!

  • A religion shouldn't have to advertise that its followers possess the quality of normality.

  • @JustAnotherGaian individuals who claim to be religious should not spend so much time advertising why LDS are not "normal"

  • @JustAnotherGaian It does when there is widespread misunderstanding and prejudice about that religion.

  • Isnt this a sin? its to violent.

  • he was boiling water, yet mormons cant drink any hot beverages or caffeine , GOING BY THE RULES FAIL

  • @SPECTACULARGE actually that's just a myth about hot beverages and caffeine. We cannot drink tea, coffee, alcohol, or consume tobacco or drugs.

  • @SPECTACULARGE So you must be perfect to judge him?

  • @SPECTACULARGE i think the purpose of that whole staying away from hot drinks thing is mainly directed toward the fact that there is caffeine in most hot drinks, which is an addicting drug...many mormons interpret it differently but thats just how i see it. its just to keep our bodies healthy and clean is what the main goal is

  • @SPECTACULARGE Seriously? you must be joking.

  • we can't drink hot tea, coffee or caffeine. how do you know it was for a beverage?

  • @SPECTACULARGE mate they can have hot drinks just nothing with caffeine in it, so that could have been for his milo or noodles, think mate think

  • @SPECTACULARGE Lol, hot chocolate?

  • This guy is such an inspiration, it takes a big man to turn down being a famous sports star with thousands & thousands of people cheering for you, to go do community service in complete obscurity. I have so much respect for him and others like him.

  • Dont get me wrong.. I love Mormons.. Actually everyone on my mothers side is mormon.. I just dont believe in anything they believe. If you really get into the jest of it it all founded upon idolatry and what not... But anyway i dont get these videos the only that they say at the end is they are Mormon... I think this is just a waste of time and money.. But just my opinion.;.. And I love all my Mormons out there... I am not hating!!

  • good on you toko, all the best!.

  • Great story, good luck on your mission!

  • wow i love this guy! This guy is amazing and humble for take a break from his rugby career to serve a full time mission! now that a man

  • My family are Active Mormons we from the Cairns Ward :)

In one of our brothers talks he mentioned all the football stars that have gone away on their mission! ..and You were one of them!!! .. Serve wellll Hopoate!

  • I belong to The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I love these videos. And i just recently found out about the "ex mormon videos on youtube and these videos make the ex mormon videos look ridiculous

  • i look up to you william :) keep it up bro !

  • EVOLUTION HAPPENED

  • @meow0kitty0k yes it did, evolution is a fact that the LDS church has never denied but we believe that God created this world including evolution. Which is where we might vary from your belief but that's ok, we can have to have different beliefs and while still share a mutual respect. Best of luck to you!!

  • its great to see people who are really dedicated to go on missions(: great job will! hope your mission is filled with many testimony building experiences!

  • I went to primary school with Will!!! such a rad dude.

  • i know where hes serving :P Elder Hopoate is the new Missionary where i live.

  • @happychappy0 thats cool! where at?

  • TOO MUCH BRO

  • why can't there be ads of christians and catholics, mormon ain't top :L CHRISTIAN ALL DAY!

  • @makatowngang mormons official name is church of jesus christ of latter day saints (LDS) we are christian, just a different sect.

  • @makatowngang mormons are christians

  • @makatowngang

Mormons are Christians. Mormon is a name given to people who belong to The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day saints. The definition of a Christian: pertaining to, believing in, or belonging to the religion based on the teachings of Jesus Christ. And seen as how we named the church after Him I would think that would be a good indication that we believe and follow his teachings :)

  • @makatowngang -- FYI, Mormons are Christians. :)

  • Such a humble guy, God bless !.

  • ...

  • I want to know where you are serving a mission!! Let us know!!

  • Great sacrifice brings great blessings.

  • hi brother hopoate, i think its amazing what your are doing, an i wish you well x

  • Knew a young kid in South Africa who was an upcoming footballer who played for Bloemfontein Celtic, played football against the bloke while he served, a real star but he also decided to put his football career on hold to serve a mission. A real fine man.

  • what a man

  • 37 dislikes are from the people he burned out on the field... that's the only explanation!

  • These ads are simply the best way of communicating a positive image of young people; all too often this generation is perceived to be little more than a pack of wastrels--how nice to discover that media stereotypes do not always reflect reality. May God bless William and the LDS Church . And "Hurrah's" for Kiwis!

  • rugby is amazing! i love it with all my heart:) i hope to never stop playing! iv been playing since i was 12 and it has strengthened my testimony in the church. it has tought me to stay steadfast and never fail on purpose(yes women's rugby does exist and is growing by the minute) thank you rugby

  • After seeing this i have no more excuse to delay going on a mission. This guy is giving up way more than i'll ever have to go serve, thank you for setting an example.

  • A true hero, on and off the field!

  • Awesome example, you will NOT regret it!

  • Good for you Will! Come to Utah!

  • Very much appreciated for all your videos, Thank you. And it is brilliant to here the testimony and passion of Will Hopoate.

  • Wow. Will you are incredible. Thank you for setting the example.

  • What a great love for the Lord and gratitude, too. You are a great example to many, including your siblings.

  • Sweetness and a half. Its nice to see young boys thinking of serving others rather than himself.

  • Remarkable.

  • Great story. He's a true example to the countless kids who idolise athletes in today's world. We need more players like Will.

  • You have my greatest respect and admiration. Here is to the best two years of your life, and more when you return. Endure to the end!

  • when you come back from your mission you will b better than most ov the nrl stars and i promise you.! do the lords will and he will do yours;)

  • U are a true inspiration will

  • Your example will affect countless lives Will. Boys will be persuaded by your example and choose to be men. Through them lives will be changed. They will have kids who will follow their example. All this because you chose to put God first in your life. Rugby will be here when you get back, and you'll be better than ever. Thank you for your example!

  • What an inspiration! To walk away from a $1.5 million contract for something he knows to be true and wants to volunteer to spread the good news of the Gospel.

  • as a returned missionary i can say what a wonderful experience it is,he will have the best 2 years of his life and through his professional sport he will be able to touch many people. As for the comment about playing sport on a sunday we all have our free agency to make choices and playing sport on a sunday does not make you a bad person, good luck and may you have many choice spiritual experiences.

  • @MRdotPTR I second that!

  • good luck to you and your family, wish you all the best and hope you will be just as good at what you're about to do as you play rugby.

  • Really makes me think about servin a mission

  • Good on him very awesome!

  • You have to respect this guy so much! He is rugby's LeBron James (before Miami) and yet he is willing to walk away from millions to go and serve God and serve his fellow man. You can read more about him at mormon dot org!

  • What a great young man!

  • This guy seems like a really cool guy.; I'd like to meet him.

  • Those 5 dislikes are the Rugby commissioners that could of made more money off of Will. LoL. Good job bro. Saving souls is more valuable than the Millions.

  • Thank you for being a great example

  • don't see how any mormons can be professional athletes since they all have to play on sundays.

  • @dstdvl Yeah, I see where you're coming from. However, a man's primary duty is to provide for his family. So, if this is how Will is going to use his gifts to provide for his family then I guess he's just going to have to do that. I once had a bishop who was an ER doctor and sometimes had to leave church because he was on-call. He provided well for his family, but that was just part of his employment. Let's not forget that the Lord is merciful and understands our character and intentions.

  • @dstdvl

Bro I ain't a Morman, but the fact that this kid turned away from 1.5 Million to serve God???

Ask yourself if God looks at this kids heart and sees a heart that's filled with emotions to serve himself??

If you ask me, he has a heart filled with Love for his family, but most importantly... For God.

  • Role Model!

  • Awesome.

  • Thank you for having your priorities straight!

  • Hey, my last name is Hopoate too!! Bet we're related somehow. Anyway, good on you mate!

  • Well said, Will. Good on ya.

  • truly an inspiration.

  • every video I see on this channel makes me tear up:)

  • Incredibly cool. Great job, Elder Hopoate.
