An excellent composite summary of one of my top ten Westerns of all time (although in this case, it's Western Australia). Your editing of different music from the soundtrack to different scenes in the movie is wonderfully done, and it was a refreshing twist. Thank you for sharing this with film fans worldwide, and very well done...
Great work! Watched the movie for years, and have the soundtrack playing in the car sometimes when I'm driving thru Australia, and there are moments - it just *fits*. Thank you...nicely done.
"Said I didn't have much use for one...never said I didn't know how to use it." --Absolutley classic line...loved it as well as the entire movie. Thanks, Laura, for your effort.
Howdy Laura, This is fantastic. I watch and listen to this often. Quigley is one of my all time favorite movies. The music really complements the movie rather than being a distraction Thanks for this great posting.
I think you did a fantastic job of syncing the music with the movie!!! I know all the dialogue by heart anyway and love watching the movie this way with the soundtrack. Isn't Tom Selleck absolutely gorgeous!!!! Thanks so much!
Probably 1 of my top 20 films of all time, always makes me happy, maybe its the music, IDK but it is just a great adventure movies with action, even some comedy. If you Havnt seen it, i beleive its still on the watch instantly list on Netflix, or just get it from the net.
I have an audio editor program (blaze media pro) that has a nice video editor with it. Unfortunately, the video editor is no longer working (haven't figured it out yet). Hence, no more videos until I get a working editor :(
It's a great movie. But the implications are monstrous. Is there actual nineteenth-century evidence of Aussie ranchers hiring long-range American buffalo hunters to exterminate inconvenient aboriginies?
I love this score. The track that starts at 6:44 gives me goosebumps. Everything about this movie was great. Tom Selleck is one of the last great western actors. Not many people can recognize what a great rider he is. Just wanted to add: The score for Starship Troopers was also AMAZING! There is a track titled "Klendathu Drop". Everybody should check it out.
This masterful soundtrack has the sort of syncopated rhythm you'd expect to hear in Leonard Bernstein's scores for westerns but Basil, being the genius that he was, was able to inject something of the British/early Australian colonial "feel" into the music. I'm not surprised seeing that he studied under legendary master, Dr. Miklos Rozsa (Ben Hur / King of Kings). Basil loved Rozsa dearly and this comes out in his other music for films such as Conan.
Very nice video. The transitions are sometimes a bit choppy, but the selections and the rhythm work and picture and music are in sync - content wise. All in all, quite brilliant work. And your taste in soundtracks is great!
Is there anyway you could put the whole movie on youtube or do you or does anyone know if its under another name on here i.e Q.D.U or tom selleck QDU.
I love this film and have oredered it but still waiting for it.
It's called "Main Title". That is the track name, the only name it has. Music written for movies does not have a name, just usually a description of where it occurred in the movie, or what the scene was that it was written for. This is the opening music for the movie, as he preparing and sailing for Australia.
I can't believe how many people that have not seen this movie!!!, every time I tell people about it they say "Never seen it",,,,,,,one of my all time favorite movies.
Quite possibly the finest movie soundtrack ever. Gets me pumped every time I watch. Thanks for posting this. Going to go watch it again for the thousandth time.
Quigley Down Under is,without a doubt, one of the greatest films of the 90's. Top notch everything. Selleck was in his terrific self. The film had it all - action, romance, and it was quite moving, too. It is a must-see. Beautiful score, too.
I never finished watching this movie on television, because I was so disturbed by the shooting of people (although I am a gun owner and shooter myself), so I never appreciated the soundtrack.

Why would you ever watch a western movie if you have a problem with seeing people shot in a movie?
thelt232629 3 years ago
I was hoping to see them killed with arrows and tomahawks. The Natural way!

the way that you phrase gun owner and shooter myself makes it sound like your a shooter of people.
