Ireland, the republic, is a seperate country, the British Isles is just the geographic term that includes Eire but please people, Ireland (south) is not part of the UK, it officially became a Free Sate in 1922, but became a republic after it aceded from the commonwealth in 1954

Ireland is not part of the UK, that is why it is called the United Kingdom of Britain and Northern ireland. Ireland is a separate country.
