  • I love how he actually keeps all of his pedals on stage and have a some what simple set up, compared to a lot of other guitarists who have twice as many effects and such. Also love that he actually controls all of his effects on his own from the stage, never liked it when musicians shelf there pedals in a box backstage and have the tech work the pedals, don't know just seems a little bit like cheating to me.

  • Why can't there be any noise? can someone answer this, it seems to be the case anytime a guitar tech tries to show someone the rig, they always say they can't make noise? is there something in the contract that says no noise from the instruments before the show or something?

  • @ebayisajoke most likely its sound techs or lighting techs, either trying to tune and/or get the PA sorted out, or just generally communicate over a 2 way.. lighting people when focusing lights & riggers also comunicate alot with 2 ways during set up. Soundcheck is noisemaking time for backline gear and generally happens after the set up is complete.

  • @ebayisajoke It can be a variety of things. Some union based venues enforce a no-noise period, usually around a meal break. Other times it could be because the artists are doing interviews off stage. In the case of the venue I work at (where CF did a show on the club tour) we have a space on the second floor that is often used for corporate day time events. We occasionally ask the band to respect a short period of silence while they do speeches and such.

  • I had .013's on my Gibson ES446 but have to move down, it's too much tension. I am using .012's on my other electric guitars.

  • I so love how Joe and his crew do not mind showing the people/the fans how he sets up his guitars. this is the only one that you can hear each effect by its self mainly im talking about the delay pedals was having a hard time hearing the difference between to two pedals . thank you

i would love to learn about the dry amp how loud is it compared to the amp with effects or does the levels change depending on the tone? i sit in my music room all day turning nobs trying to get this sound

  • He didn't stick with the Peavey's for very long. Wonder what happened.

  • now i really like my satchman strap

  • The tech will not play anything with the camera that close

  • .010's .5 step down are like .009's standard tuned. I like .010's, .011's on short scale.

  • @J1Z06 I use 11's.. lol love'em

  • I like 9's simply because it allows for easier whammying

  • I was kinda hoping that one of the amps was actually gonna be wet for some reason

  • it would of been better if satch was doing the guitar playing :P

  • Joe uses his own signature pedal !!!!!!

    that is a confirmation ....

  • @a1works00 I saw another video in which Satch says he mainly uses the amp's distortion and only uses his sig' distortion pedal when he feels like it. I can't help but think he just put it on the board so it looks like he actually uses it.

  • that guy got pwned by tech talk

  • why have an amp with more than one channel designed for you and then only use the clean channel? I mean, he's great, but it doesn't make any sense.

  • There's a lesson here for all guitarists - he's using two powerful amps CLEAN, and getting ALL THE DIRT from well designed distortion pedals.

Hell, I *love* playing into a loud Marshall, but face it....we're all nuts. ;-)

  • it ain't noise? it's called a guitar

  • "and I see it has the chickenfoot logo." Brilliant observation!

  • if it was Joe onstage they would have let him make as much noise as he wanted -__-

  • God I wish they could have cranked that rig up!!!!!!! You too?

  • no noise ?

  • I must say. The Satchurator pedal is a boss.

  • Tech: This is Joe's new Chickenfoot guitar with the Chickenfoot logo

Interviewer: I see it has the Chickenfoot logo on it!

    Me: -facepalm-

  • @Benwilson89 looooool

  • why does he put tape or whatever it is around the pedal switches

  • @mnm1945

It is glow in the dark tape, makes it easy to see the pedals when they have the stage lights off

  • I hope someone kicked that guy in the face after yelling at the tech.

  • I hate that someones like, no sound buddy.. I agree with everyone saying, RESPECT THE TECH.

  • @xmsparker Yeah, i'd like to know what was so important that there was 30 seconds of guitar sounds.

  • A peddle board this big should have a noice gate! I'll buy you one Joe, for your birthday!

  • does anybody know , how much personal guitar techs get payd ?

  • @juku223 By the very quick research I did, about 2500 bucks a month.

  • Cool dude. I would like to meet him.

  • he is awesome.. the video seemed a little awkward though

  • at around 2:10 - 2:15 there was somebody dying because of the flu!

  • i saw that exact satriani amp head and cabinet yesterday at a pawn shop for $1500 together.

  • DREAM JOB !

  • @almor619 art is not a job...

  • the guy whos doing the interview sounds just like Mike Portnoy.. :S

  • in 5:15 & 5:19 there were a pop noise when mike turn on & off the big bad wah pedal...how come that noise is tolerated to the famous Joe Satriani sound??????

  • fuck! respect the tech! , if he wasnt their the show wouldnt go on!

    i can't believe some people.

  • ... and then he got fired.

  • play something dude!!

  • "Thats nothing" @ 305 was a fulltone dejavibe

  • those JSX heads look hideous. Not that that matters tone wise, but YUCK!

  • @kingv911 Yeah, all that chrome really cheapens it up. That is the only Peavy I know of that looks that way. Too bad.

  • cheeky bastards! no noise buddy! my reply would be, get fucked!

  • I've decided Chickenfoot is the best band in existence these days. Just my opinion.

  • this guy cant do an interview.....

  • They guy that yelled "No noise, buddy!" seemed like a douche, but I imagine I would be pissed if I had to be a sound guy too.

  • @openthedoar they had to be silent because people might think that the show has started and fans might come rushing in. Of course, they have protocols to avoid that.

  • The interviewer sounds like Kyle Gass!

  • Hey no noise, buddy.

  • !dshwdsgfdjfdsgjfgsj

  • i love joe satriani

  • "I'm sure you'll dazzle us..." - nope...

  • IF CHICKENS HAD NO FEET, THEY WOULD DRAG THEIR DICKS IN THE DIRT, IF CHICKENS HAD DICKS, BUT THEY HAVE FEET, SO DON'T WORRY.

  • without a guitar tech any guitar player could be "live"

  • @buttclops wouldn't it be amazing if there was a video with john frusciante's guitar tech demonstrating john's rig?

  • @dedemaister i would LOVE to see that... the whole reason i bought a Strat was because of John Frusciante

  • @sblopez08 we're on the same plane my friend.

  • @dedemaister yeah i wish i could see john frusciante's, jonny greenwood's, and billy corgan's :(

they must have insane amounts of pedals, and racks full of preamps and compressors etc.

  • who keeps sneezing?! lol

and yeah @dedemaister, i would give my left nut to see that...

  • @dedemaister My brain would explode haha

  • EVH have 15 account...

  • @buttclops John has more than 1, but you right, he sold most of em for smack

  • 2:57 Achew.! ;DDD

  • What a gracious guy. No pretence, no showing off. Nothing bugs me more than music store guys who have to practise at 180bpm to 'try out' gear. Really.

  • onya Joe - old school, no fx rack, no amp channel-switching

dunno bout the amps, but I'd have that pedal setup. Perfect - two delays, flange, phase, two overdrives. I can take or leave a wah, but the rest is good to go... ;-)

  • I have the guitar strap on his no.1 guitar :)

  • what flanger is that? sounds really good

  • @rickyjshiznit It's either an Ibanez or a Maxon

  • @HitmanJenkins1 It's an ibanez, it says on the head

  • @HitmanJenkins1 flanger's an ibanez, it says on the pedal

  • @tobalishus21 It is an Ibanez yes, I didn't check it clearly enough when I first watched the video

  • oh look a vox wah, at least SOMEONE uses it, now i can tell my mates to go shuv their cry baby's up their asses

  • today I went to a tiny music store in Birmingham alabama, and lo and behold, they someone had one of those JSX's. I didnt believe it when they said it was owned by satriani. if you dont believe me, Ill send a pic of it to you. it was on sale for about 600

  • why are those people trippin off of no noise when this guys joes tech guy who are those people to yell no noise tell them there mouth is louder than joes tech guy ahahahaha cool vid i like it

  • bless you at 2:57

  • Holy crap that is a good clean sound.

  • Haha...whoever the hell told him "no noise buddy" should have their ass kicked. LOL

  • does anyone else think that guys pretty "up there" ?

  • jsx SUCKS

  • @wrona003 Evidently they DON'T, or Satch wouldn't be using them and Peavey wouldn't be selling them.

  • @BullShnit personal opinion, if you like it, i hope you be happy with it. i played it, cranked it, didn't like it, simple

marshall makes and sells MG's, what does that mean? that they are good?

  • @wrona003 Maybe next time you should say that it's your personal opinion instead of making it sound like the amps suck. Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean that they suck.

  • @BullShnit Peavey sells plenty of junk IMO. I find it weird that he's using the JSX just for clean, there are better clean amps out there. Joe uses modded Marshall JVMs instead of the JSX on his solo live rig.

  • the number 2 guitar is the shit!! lol

  • Jesus, why did they choose that dick to interview Satch's tech when he obviously wouldn't know a wet amp from a wet dream?

  • what a nice guy that tech is!!

  • you say "ok" too much :) not that it's a bad thing, I just noticed

  • What a nice guy!!

  • Nice guy...good job...

  • the guy doin the interview is a retard.

  • "No noise buddy". ? "FUCK YOU!!!" too who ever said that. Do they fucking know who they were talking too? jesus, I would have told that fuck to fuck off or we aren't playing your fucking pisshole. fuck they can come play in my town any day and never get that kind of treatment. Satriani for ever. Peace ,and END the drug WAR!! NOW.

  • @420captain Yeah, I thought the same thing. If he's been Satch's tech for 20+ years, he should be able to test the amp whenever he wants. It wasn't like he had it cranked and was blowing out power chords or feedback. I'd tell the person to fuck off, unless it was Satch himself telling me to keep it quiet. And yes, end the damn drug war.

  • im a guitar tech myself, and i play on stage too... so you suckers suck your own chicken cocks!!!

  • its jaba the hut

  • 5:00 did he say "hurry up" if not then he said "oh yeah"

I wish people would respect the dude, i bet sach loves that tech dude man... ppl are dicks... what happened to having joy with music?

  • @Emceetem I don't think Joe would hire somebody to be his guitar tech who he didn't trust and respect, and who wasn't his friend. When/if I'm a touring musician, if I can't find somebody who is a friend of mine who I trust enough to handle my shit, I'll just do it all myself.

  • im my own guitaR TECH

  • chickenfoot rocks!

  • Mike seems like a nice guy.

  • does anyone notice that joe has a shiny satchurator and a bright red one?!?!?!?! i want the shiney one

  • Wow, you can buy everything on that board at a guitar store. Imagine that, no overpriced, overhyped, wait-list boutique pedals. What does that tell you?

  • @2:57 AAAAACHHHHOOOO!

  • I wish people had a little more respect for guitar techs

  • @TheElectricGerbil

Yeah that was kinda messed up @4:39 when the guy was like "Hey! Turn it down! NO NOISE PLEASE!!" Its interesting how one man's joy is another man's noise but there ya go. I guess they got tight sound level regs only approved for certain times like sound check and the actual show...

  • @TheElectricGerbil Guitar Techs are the ones that help the guitarist have a good live sound! +respect

  • @TheElectricGerbil When their gear doesn't work and they can't fix it, they will. Hey, wish I had a guitar tech!

  • @TheElectricGerbil this guy's a douche, I met him and he was totally a jerk, still I got to meet satch and he was pretty cool

  • @TheElectricGerbil oh hell yeah

  • @TheElectricGerbil I agree, and Mr. Manning seemed so nice, too.

  • @TheElectricGerbil I wish i had a guitar tech!

  • 2:22 Roger Mayer Voodoo Vibe JUNIOR

  • I want to vape some of the herb of many of the commentators below! :-P

  • Wait, why even have different guitars if they are the same? haha

  • @Treggify a backup, what if one breaks a string or something? then what?

  • @MONSTA01 good point. hahaha

  • @Treggify He may use different tunings.

  • In my opinion the best JS sound and rig was in 1992 on the extremist album to 1998 Crystal Planet. These are two Joe's the best albums for me, and his sound is amazing. I'm still huge fan of Joe but his sound these days compare to 90' is worst to me.

  • I almost bought a JSX. But I decided against it. Too many nobs. haha

  • @Treggify Lol, yeah I don't use half the knobs on that thing but I've had mine for 6 years and I still love it. I run it with a carvin legacy cab with celestion vintage 30's.

  • @6StringBuckeye917 :O awesome. I bought a Peavey Valveking 1000 on monday :)

  • @Treggify I want a valveking so bad!! i have a peavey transtube 212 EFX, but i want a good half stack, and i've been looking at the valveking on musiciansfriend and it looks cool but i need someone's opinion that's played it. does it sound good?

  • @Treggify

he he, yeah know what ya mean. I was gona buy the JSX but I dont have $2500 dollars to plank on an amp...

Anyone else jelous or get tired of other "Youtarists" who have $10,000+ setup or atleast brag about it?....I think I'll just stick to my Fender Champ XD ...thats about my price range.

  • @PIlotrcm I knoe exactly what you mean, im sick of people tellin me to get a triple rectifier that I cant afford to buy or maintain lol

  • Why no noise?

  • killer artwork on guitar #2 :-)

  • Am I stupid for asking this question: Does it matter which pedal comes before/after which?

  • @ericclapton00 kinda well i put wah wah first then my big muff distortion then my cs-3 dont have much pedals see well anyway it dose cause the last pedal you can only slightly hear the effect but if its first then thats the one you'll hear the most

  • @ericclapton00 You gotta experiment, see what works for you, especially if you wanna make wacky noises, but generally accepted wisdom is gain effects (ie overdrive, compression) first, then modulation (chorus etc), then time-based (ie delay, reverb) last. For example, if you put your delay BEFORE your overdrives, the delay just ends up sounding like a mushy mess...

  • @ericclapton00 No, no, no - you're not stupid! but it really does matter. Different order of pedals will have a HUGE difference on your sound. on youtube search for the vid:

"Pedalboard - How to order my guitar pedals & stompboxes! FX Chain Perfected! "

It really helps explain why the order really does make a difrerence - have a great day!

  • i want to see micheal manning shred :)

  • It seems like as soon as you hit it big, your setup gets all crazy(not just talking about satch). I know almost everything is given to these guitarist, but why no just have a simple setup like you did when you were 16 in your garage. If I would ever hit it big, I would press the issue that my rig is simple and it dosent have all the fancy ratamaran. I think Satch could of did a better demo.

  • @BigR6ch Satch's rig is simple compared to most guitarists. There are lots of cool effects out there. No reason to not use them, unless that's what you want to be known for, at any given time he could play a clean channel, or just overdrive if he wanted.

  • nice!!

  • Tech-"This is his new Chickenfoot guitar - Chickenfoot logo..."

Camera guy-"And, uhh... I see it has the Chickenfoot logo... of course... ummm..."

    He just said that...

Tech-"This is his main guitar right now."

Camera guy-"And, so, this would be his number 1 guitar on stage... right..."

Also just said that too... Dumbass

  • @nbdavis47 hey, give the interviewer a chance. you would be a little too flustered to speak well if you were looking at THE GUITARS that JOE SATRIANI uses!

  • @nbdavis47 Sounds kinda like something of southpark lol

  • @nbdavis47 That's the Huell Howser method of interviewing.

  • @dplessel more like a bystander method.

  • I have the red and white skull and flames joe satriani strap

  • @StanwoodSpartans me too =D but i also have his js1200 ice 9 time machine and the freakin awsome Satcurator =DDDD all i need is the big bad wah! :D

  • jeez they couldve let him demo it for a while, its the guitar tech, he shoulda said..."Fuck You! you could wait 5 minutes!!"

  • the technician of joe in 3:10 he take away a WHITE PEDAL and he said "this is nothing" ...what pedal is this??????

  • I would guess that it's one of the prototype Ice 9 Overdrive pedals from Vox. It looks like one of Joe's vox pedals and the Ice 9 wasn't out when this video was shot. I know he was testing them out on the Chickenfoot tour too. So I think it's pretty safe to say that that's what this pedal is, but I can't 100% guarantee.

I think the Ice 9 Overdrive is out now too if you wanted to check it out.

  • @ANTHIMOSmanti

99% sure that it is a Fulltone Mini Deja Vibe!

  • the technician of joe in 3:10 he take away a WHITE PEDAL and he said "this is nothing" ...what pedal is this??????

  • Mike Manning gave me one of satriani's plectrums after a show 2 years ago. Nice guy. if only i coulda met Joe!

  • i'm still wondering why joe switched to marshall...

  • Surely a smoker.. Look at his face.

  • artwork lol

  • 2:57 bless you

  • @1avilable2 LOL!! tuberculosis runs rampant at chickenfoot's gigs

  • what prefer US???

    a vox wah wah

    or the cry baby??

  • What a nice, polite person !!!

  • wat do they mean buy dry/wet amps?

  • @racingandmusicmylife

Dry/wet usually refers to reverb/non-reverb, but the term could also be used for delay.

  • What a cluster fuck of pedals. Put that shit in a rack on switches and control it all with midi presets.

  • @thacrackfox Couldnt agree more haha.. Im saving up for a rack now :)

  • @gibsongod15

I just converted my rig to racks. Running it all with a ground control pro. It will change your life. Set up and Break down is about 5 minutes, and there's no pedal dancing. It doesn't matter what sound you want, hit one preset switch and you got it.

  • @thacrackfox Yes i cant wait.... unfortunately, a new mac for recording is my priority right now, and then my rack is next for sure! :)

  • @thacrackfox

    shut the fuck up

  • @LfunkeyA hang yourself

  • mike manning has the personality of a wet mop.

  • Comment removed

  • I would've told those yodells to straight-up eat a dick, whenever they were yelling their bullshit.

  • I wish I had perfect skin like Joe's Tech :P

  • 3:08 was that the ICE 9 PROTOTYPE?
