  • some good ideas .. osu

  • @kyokushinepal OSU, thank you a lot.

  • This will def help me with my Muay Thai , thanx for sharing...

  • very nicely thanks...i think the problem with most fighters is coordination

  • @nemurad OSU, with this you will get nice condition, important also to run and to combine that with fights. Thanks for your comment. OSU

  • dropping your hands in kumite is one thing you my just get ko'd ,however on the street if you don't mind your guard it could be fatal.

  • OSU

  • @Lpfan374 OSU

  • pretty good kicks, but if you keep dropping your hands like that your never going to get a chance to use them., because your going to get knocked out quickley

  • @TheHapkidoist OSU, is right, is important to try to not drop the guard - I always try to have it in mind. When I teach my students a also tell them. Thank you very much for your insight. Again is important to always do like you say even though you are only practicing. Domo arrigato. OSU

  • @TheHapkidoist As long as he always has one hand for himself it's okay. I've met plenty of sensei and shihan who recommend torquing the kicking arm by dropping it to produce more power and speed.

  • @H0useMouse OSU, thanks for your insight - is also good to know, in kyokushin we try to keep the guard up due to the hard kicks we can receive during KUMITE. But as you say is also something to think on. One more time, thanks. OSU

  • @Krisgomgun Osu, I know we always try to have our guard up, I'm a Kyokushin Karateka as well :P But after opening up to the idea that dropping one hand to give your kick more power, especially Jodan kicks, I felt that as long as you have the other guard for yourself, it's safe to use. "One hand is all you need."

  • @H0useMouse OSU, Domo arigato.

  • Thanks - loads of good training ideas - can't wait to get started! OSU

  • @kyokushinbabe osu thank you for your nice comment. keep training.. osu

  • @kyokushinbabe OSU Domo arigato

  • This is a great training video! Thank you for sharing this! OSU!

  • @Susanoo58 thanks, nice you like it. OSU

  • krisgomgun were are you located?

  • @edlo123 just now i Sweden, I just arrived there and started to train again with Shihan Howard Collins, I was forced to leave Spain and my Dojo due to the economic crisis., OSU

  • anyone know what the karate kick is called that goes up at an angle and down. it looks like a triangle. ur shin goes up slanted and it twists and goes back down

  • @sub7viet OSU, the kick name in Japanes is oroshi kakato geri (Soto and Uchi).

    OSU

  • @Krisgomgun hmm i dont think that is it. it sort of looks like a crescent kick. when you kick it goes up and u twist ur shin so its facing down. it sort of tricks the opponent. i dont know if u play tekken but jin does that kick.

  • @sub7viet osu, now I understand you, well this kick is also named Brasilian kick due to Gloube Feitosa used this kick a lot. I do not recall the name in japanese but is like a mawashigeri at the begining or starting as a hiza geri and you turn your body and the kick goes like in a circle (like a mawashi) and then downwards. I hope this helped... osu

  • @Krisgomgun yeah i think that is more like the kick. thanks! so hard to find it though, i would like to learn it

  • @sub7viet maybe I could a small video showing that, is really a good and efective kick. try to look fo brazilian kick... maybe you find it. I will try to find the japanese name of it. OSU

  • @Krisgomgun Tsune Sokotsu Mawashigeri, there's probably a full name with the descent angle, but shin collarbone roundhouse kick is one I've heard it referred to as. You need some real flexibility to pull one of those off, I'm thinking head height on yoko kiage...scary thought that. Any advice for introducing junior students to footwork? Teaching has never been my strong suit, I tend to confuse people.

  • @psychedashell OSU, sorry for my late reply. is difficult to answer your question, but you could do some footwork 5-8 minutes every time you have a training. There are many things you can do, if you look into my other videos you can find some thngs that may help you. Thanks for the name of the kick. Domo arrigato. OSU

  • @Krisgomgun No worries, people are busy. I'll just keep trying with the kids.

  • @psychedashell OSU!!

  • @psychedashell OSU

  • I'd love to get hooked up with your web page as well! Can you hook me up?

  • I will send you an email osu

  • OSU, muchas gracias... lo practico muy a menudo como calentamiento.

  • This looks really cool... like the way he switches legs... gonna try this

  • OSU, thanks for your comment, practice this and you will gain speed and power. You will also notice after a while that you will switch fast during combat surprising the opponent. Good for interior low kick also.. keep training.. OSU

  • you are very good at these things, sir! i just began karate and i love it...i hunger for technique and speed and it's these videos like the one you made that really do help others out....like you said, it's not to show you are better or not, it is to help out the undesciplined and untrained students like me..thank you very much and hope you make 10dan...peace

  • Dear, thank you very much for your comments and insight, I see you have read the other comments. I really appreciate what you say. I hope some day I will achieve higher rank, step by step and I definitely need also more discipline and someone who push me to be better. I will send you my web page link to you and you can find more interesting things. Thanks OSU . Peace

  • This video is awsome! Im going to do this all the time, so when its time for sparring im going to be very good! yes!!

  • Thank you very much, is a really good training and will make you fast and technique will improve. Imagine this exercise in front of an opponent. Hit with left front change and hit again with same leg and then the other side.. K.O. Use with punching bag or makiwara. some one hold the makiwara at middle level and then hit each side every time, the one who hold the makiwara change side to side very fast.

    Keep training..

    Thanks

    OSU

  • Thankyou for this video, i am a begginer of kyokushin and i have the utmost respect for teachers such as yourself, I allways listen carefully and take the time to understand what is being taught, cause i really want to benifit, i will practice these techniques regulary, hopfully these will benifit my sparring ability, so thanks for this great video! OSU!

  • ur high kick is like my arm length

  • indeed your arm length is very very long... ;-) thanks

    OSU

  • you got it all wrong. i mean when i stand normaly you wouldn't hit my shoulder with those. but i guess thats normal in kyokushin.

  • Now I did not get it wrong, I understand perfectly, If I will not hit your "shoulder" then you must be very very tall. This is a instruction video to improve foot work... in fight is different, this help you to be better and faster in fights. The intention is not to show other if I am better or not. Is to give practical advice for training. I am open for criteria that will improve my technique not if you are better or not. Thanks and keep training OSU

  • Thanks bro for the video. I can never get enough of the basics.

    OSU!!

  • OSU

Que bueno que te sirva, hay, aparte de esto, muchos mas trabajos de pierna que vienen muy bien.

    Gracias

    OSU

    Saludos...

  • karate is about self diciplin and respect, Karate is meant to be benificial for a mental wellbeing and self defence.

So how dare you compare karate to a sport such as muay thai, there are plenty of good k1 fighters that have trained in kyokushin that have won many fights.

Not everyone trains to become a professional fighter, some people train for fitness, or just self defence on the sreet, so dont judge other styles! idiot

  • Really nice drills - very useful addition to my training I think.

  • Thank you very much, I am glad that is useful, footwork is very important, there are several besides the ones here.

    thanks
