  • I've always thought that Prince worked much better as a band, not as a genious (and he is indeed) with too many musicians along the way. Between 1982 and 1988 Prince rocked the whole world. Wendy, Lisa, Fink, Dickerson, Sheila E, Bobby Z, etc etc etc. How could they quit the band that fast? Why was Prince so maniac? Lovesexy live tour was one of the best tour ever around the world. How I miss that line, how many Gods (and Godesses) together at the same time on the stage !!

  • There are conformist and non-conformist, and then there are people who are just themselves, I find that Michael Jackson fans, are people who will follow anything, just to be start in something, Prince fans are people who are understanding of the orgiastic state where in one comes to realize that its ok to do what you want to do, despite whoever, whatever, or whenever!!!! Freedom in other words.

  • @hJiLyKrHmSaGpKs BETTER what?

  • @hJiLyKrHmSaGpKs haha better commercially and thats about it

  • so if michael jackson is the first artist to be on mtv. how is it that 1999 and lil red corvette was playedbefore thiller and princeis not getting the recognition? hmmm?

  • @jaysongamble1111 I'm a Prince fan have been since 1982, but Billie Jean was before the 1999 album, not to mention MIchael had larger than life videos, like with "rock with you" and "Can you feel it" with the JAckson 5, and the 1999 videos were lype sinced fake stage performances, nothing spectacular, and Thriller took the music video to movie status...that's why Michael is King of videos...

  • @skyviolet prince was the first black artist one mtv, and thats the truth. soooo why are people claiming it was mike. yea he had good videos but that doesnt discount the fact that lil red corvette was played first. rock with u wasnt aired on mtv until after thriller

  • @jaysongamble1111 We are talking about HUGE success videos that took over all genres (sorry, but although maybe little red corvette was a hit single, it was NOT a hit video), plus Prince is like 1/3rd black where Michael is ALL black... well at least he used to be.

  • @skyviolet how was billie jean on before lil red corvetter and 1999 when princes album came out in 1982 and thriller was out in 1983? jw..

  • @jaysongamble1111 like I said I was there, I think your not reading my statement properly (and trust it is written right) Nobody is talking about albums and when they were released, we are talking about videos, so reread and understand.

  • @skyviolet lil red corvette and 1999 was played before any songs on the thriller album, thats what im getting at. the songs were releases in 1982 and aired on mtv in 1982. any songs from thriller wasnt played until 1983 so logically, prince was played before mj. thats all im trying to say here. Mike was not the first black artist on MTV. i really dont think it was prince eith tho. i heard from older people that this is the case.

  • @jaysongamble1111 possibly, you know for me I always thought 1999 picked up in 83 due to he skipped that year working on a film about the 1999 tour (ending up being Purple Rain and original had Vanity) That's when MTV started playing the videos because of the lack of material. But even worse and I will say it. For someone to call Prince the first successful "Black" man is a prejudice insult, 1, ignoring his multi cultural band, and 2, saying you have to have white in you to be successful black

  • @skyviolet nobody is saying that prince was the first successful black, im trying to understand why people say that thriller was the first black video played on mtv. people my age know the truth. People can try to rewrite history if they want, it still doesnt make it a fact. the point er sisters were played before MJ and there were others. Lets give recognition where its due. yea, mj changed the way videos are made, but he sure wasnt the frist black artist on mtv.

  • @jaysongamble1111 read your history on MTV. Although MTV was launched in 1981, it wasn't until Superstation WTBS launched "night tracks" on June 3 1983 which featured black artist, which MTV originally ignored. Like I said you are confusing album dates with video releases. And again, when comparing Princes lame lip sync garage performance videos of "little red corvette" and "1999", etc. compared to the already rich and highly produced videos of Michael like "Billie Jean and Thriller".. mj wins

  • @skyviolet mtv were showing videos in 1981 and 1982, i saw them myself. they played blondie a lot and i did research and i was right, i believe it was the pointer sisters that was the first black artist. im not getting into opinions about great videos, im want people to know the truth

  • @jaysongamble1111 I watched MTV from the beginning. Can't say that Prince was the first black artist on MTV, but he DEFINATELY was on before Michael Jackson. I would watch MTV for hours to see Prince's Controversy video. The Controversy album was released in 1981. A WHOLE YEAR BEFORE THRILLER. (A whole year and a month to be exact) Michael was the 1st MAINSTREAM black artist on MTV. Because of his success with his brothers, everybody knew who he was vs Prince who was still an underground artist

  • @pachwi25 Yes I know they debut in 1981 with the pretenders but no black artist played till 1983, I was there, the facts are there and the more you argue the more foolish you look. MTV said MJ was their first black artist debut themselves, I didn't say that, nor is it my opinion.. READ ABOUT IT!!!!!!

  • good head

  • @OnThatPowder The facts are on MTV Wikipedia paragraph 1.3
