  • this isn't meant to be proper pull-ups, these are crossfit kipping pullups!

  • fucking the worst thing ive ever seen in my entire life

  • I didn't dislike this vid just for the heck of it. I disliked this video because that is IMPROPER form. If this was the military, that would be: 0 Pull ups, and 100 Kipping

  • this is the fakest exercise I've ever seen.

  • Don't you dare use the words Clean or Snatch in the same fucking room as 'kipping pull-ups'. That's a hell of a stretch to compare the hip pop here to tossing hundreds of pounds around. Sure, get the technique down for these, whatever, just so you know how to do them for the hell of it. But I didn't kip like this even when I was first learning the muscle up.

  • are you trying to have sex with the bar?

  • this is not a pull ups.. this is jump ups

  • you people look like monkeys on crystal meth. life's too short.

  • and not a single pullup was done that day.. brb snapping shit up in your shoulders and back by swinging around like that

  • I can't believe how fucking lame this is.

  • I understand the hate for kipping, I make sure to practice strict pull ups to build arm strength because kipping is technically "cheating". But I do primarily kips. If you were in a real life situation in which you need to pull yourself up while hanging by your arms, would you be careful to be sure you were doing strict pull ups and using only your arms? No, you would use your entire body to generate as much power as possible efficiently as possible.

  • @pgru92 and you would be less strong than if you had trained proper pullups and worked on your back muscles instead of working on technique to build momentum. your logic is backing athleticism, not fitness. enjoy your shoulder injuries

  • fucking retarded

  • So if someone can do 100 kipping pull ups that means the can do what... like 1 real pull up? By this logic you might as while get a bar you can reach from the ground and then jump every single rep and call it a pull up because you would just be "effectively using momentum". phaggot.

  • WHY?

  • In short high exertion coupled with disrupted breathing gives the illusion of a good workout.

Tricks of the trade people. Breathing disruption is one of the most commonly used tools by trainers to trick their clients into thinking they got a good workout. Another commonly used tool is to trigger the inverse stretch reflex. You see that one a lot too. Suddenly you cant do another set and its time to leave, wow what a good trainer, next client please.

  • If you want to know why these kipping pull-ups tire you so its very simple. I use to be a boxer. When you are hurt and your opponent is going in for the kill one of the things you are taught to do is attack their body. You want to disrupt the rhythm of their breathing as they are over exerting themselves. It only takes 2-3 good body shots and your opponent quickly runs out of steam. This pullup works on the same principle. Its motion disrupts the natural breathing pattern.

  • That's not good

  • hilariously bad

  • jesus those are some ugly pullups

  • useless crap.....

  • people who don't crossfit don't usually understand the kip as a functional movement that saves time during a wod

  • WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY DOIN!?

  • LOL

  • Its called kipping cuz youd be "skipping" real xcercise...

  • @skierdud89 if i want to elevate my heart rate for an extended period of time i will run when i lift im allowing adequit recovery time between sets to.get the most work out of my muscles and then they grow.and get bigger and stronger... i did a trial at a crossfit gym and it was dumb i felt.like i had done my cardio for the day but not gotten a good reaistance workout, its fine for endurance but is hard on your joints and sucks for strength training.

  • With this new "pull up" technique you can make sure your upper body's joints are totally shot by age 35! SWEET!

  • @jeff4bucks that's a good description of crossfit in general, not just these ridiculous excuses for pull ups

  • People making comments of this being pointless has obviously never tried crossfit...I have been in martial arts and MMA for 6 years, and have been through countless extreme workouts with PRO fighters, and CROSSFIT (any) workout is a humbling experience.

  • @1mskungfu

That doesn't really mean anything. There are lots of tricks of the trade that can be used to quickly exhaust and or weaken body. It just takes an understanding of the body's metabolic processes. Being gassed or extremely weakened does not mean you got a great productive workout. It might only mean you got conned by someone smarter than you.

  • @IskurBlast I would agree if I didn't show progress from this fitness system...but my progress in a month has been incredible....seems to work very well for me..also the fact that I am training my niece with a mix of supersets and crossfit workouts and she has already dropped 5 lbs in a week.

  • @1mskungfu

I've never seen a weight loss program where people don't shed at least 5 pounds in a week. That is the natural response. Early results are always low hanging fruit.

  • @IskurBlast OK then my results losing 3 inches and 5% body fat were just a coincidence...and still losing after 1 month and half? and I am already athletic somewhat, so I only have 10 more lbs to lose. I have a close friend who is a personal trainer and he also says its a good program...and just advised me to do other forms of fitness to switch it up which I am doing...all I am saying if it works for me as an mma fighter who is already in better shape than the average person.

  • @1mskungfu

Its consistent work that lost the weight. It was YOU not the program.

The Oracle isn't talking to the gods she is high on methane fumes.

The pot isn't extra powerful its laced.

You aren't getting a super powerful workout. You are suffering from minor hypoxemia because the movements inhibit your breathing.

Why do you think rhabdomyolysis is so common in crossfit?

  • u do this for 10 years and ur shoulders ad elbows will be completely fucked

  • @steveoo6 won't take that long.......

  • @steveoo6 won't take that long.....

  • @jeff4bucks ur right

  • Looks like a good way to hurt yourself.

  • kipping pullup, or whatever they are called., is absolute garbage. seriously, what is the point of this over a "traditional pullup which involves a slower, controlled, muscle building movement? all this does is incease your risk of injury...

  • @jeff4bucks

They are trying to quickly put the body in a state of extreme aerobic fatigue so you feel like you got a great workout.

  • WTF is point of this "exercise"? Every serious fitness enthusiast knows you're not supposed to use momentum, that's cheating! This looks pointless to me. It's better to use good form. Plus all that herky-jerking could tear or possibly dislocate something.

  • I am pretty sure these crossfiters that everyone hates on could do more "strict" pullups than any of us sitting on our butts watching videos can do :D Just saying.

  • This type of pull-up is CHEATING by using MOMENTUM. Plain and simple...it is NOT a REAL pull-up.

  • Kipping = Pussy

    Wide Pull-up= Men

  • Glad i don't live in America, never seen anyone do this bullshit. And if anyone takes up my space in the gym by doing this shit he can be sure to get his ass kicked out sooner than he can say crossfit.

  • Is Crossfit the easier version of regular lifting? I dunno what it is.

  • @thefirstwhiteknight probably, this shit is retarded

  • Would you rather be able to do 67 kipping pull-ups,or 15 strict good form pull-up?

kipping pull ups look like your humping the air.

  • "Greater intensity means better fitness." Wow, people actually believe this.

  • @HoorayImHelping if you are trying to dis crossfit at least use the correct definitions of what intensity means

  • ha, the military does not allow kicking

  • subtitles: durrrhurrrredudrrddhudhurrrdurrr

  • 1. cheating 2. injury waiting to happen

  • now try doing 10 slow and controlled :-)

  • @frontstance most of them can do 20 slow and controlled, they do these for fitness not for just working lats, if you knew anything about it, it'd be a different story

  • You're telling me that doing kipping pull ups, which cause extreme back flexion and extension (not to mention disc herniation soon to come), is going to make you a better power lifter? Last I checked, power lifting starts with your feet fixed on the floor, not your hands fixed on the floor. This pull up teaches functional hip power??? Maybe when humans learn to fly it will!!!

  • @FunctionalMuscleFit how would you know that they cause herniated discs? pretty sure seems like more it strengthens the core, which makes you a better power lifter, I mean try it and test it out before you say it causes something that it doesn't

  • @pumitaproductions

"Kipping is good for you if you're a member of the military" riiiiightttttt.....i'm in the Marine Corps. No service other than the Marine Corps has to do pull ups for a PFT. Kipping is a No Go for that portion. I'll rephrase that for ya...Kipping is good for you if you're a member of the military EXCEPT the Marine Corps.

  • When someone tried that on our pull-up test in elementary school, the teacher didn't count those reps... And for a reason I think.

  • uhh isnt this cheating?

  • allmywhy.jpg

  • lmao instead of looking like your having a seizure do flexed arm hangs and lose fucking weight so you can pull your fucking weight.

  • i'm new to this ... but if you're using momentum to get you to pull up .. doesn't that just take out the point of doing a pull up?

  • @ngtobzzz yes it does this is a shit exercise

  • @ngtobzzz hit it right on the head ;P

  • @ngtobzzz It makes it more functional. Bodybuilders would never do this exercise, but people who want to build functional strength, like crossfiters, would.

  • @BagofHay

    functional how

    please explain

  • @ngtobzzz does sorta it makes it easier but this way its more of a coordination + full body movement giving you a better work out

  • "I've never seen a kipping pull up taught"

    GEE I WONDER WHY

  • @panathinakosbear cause your lazy and sit on your ass at home instead of going to a gym

  • Despite the fucksticks hating on it, this is a good tutorial on kipping.

  • kipping pull-ups? this is what we referred to in PE class as "cheating." Hahaaa no disrespect people! these look hard . . .

  • Why don't people read before they shit on it.

  • These are exercises for special olympics.

  • man this is so retarded. Everyone knows that it's always form over repetition if you want to see results and stay safe. This will mess up your shoulder joints and you are cheating so much.

  • these people are retarded, right?

  • @dryano +

  • Looks stupid

  • kippin is for puss

  • @714xelexbe how so? pretty sure those pussies are harde working than anyone else around, reebok seems to think they are doing something right

  • @20DavidX terrible argument man...crossfit is another fad, so reebok jumped in for the money, not because they actually think it is an awesome sport

  • THE ONLY REAL CULT IN THE WORLD. (WELL AT LEAST LIKE THE CULTS THE MEDIA?GVMNT HAS FOR FED ME)

  • I DONT LIKE THIS NEW TECHNIQUE EITHER. IM USED TO DEADHANG PULLUPS AND I REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE KIPPING IS GOOD FOR YOU. MY LIFE IS TERRIBLE.

  • @pumitaproductions Cheating is not a technique

Kipping is good for you only if you're not doing anything else

These do not deserve to be called pullups

    Get over yourself

  • @panathinakosbear Kipping is good for you if you're a member of the military, such as myself. If you want to get a V-cut back, stick to deads. If you want to be functional and be able to effectively overcome obstacles in a real life-or-death situation, stick to kipping.

  • @pumitaproductions No. The only practical benefit kipping has is practicing the form. The actual muscles involved in pulling yourself up are much better worked when used in a dead hang.

Honestly, think about this for a second. When I'm on the football field, my butt relative to my upper body rarely goes below parallel. By your logic, this means that I should never squat below parallel, but we all know how dumb that sounds right? So why can't you guys get this with pullups?

  • @panathinakosbear Don't "No." me. You have absolutely NO idea what you're talking about. You clearly have no experience in any actual life or death situations. Seems like you're just a parrot who does whatever looks cooler. From your logic, to be a efficient runner I should work on leg exercises only. If you need to train a certain motion you train with that motion. If I want to be a better runner I'm not going to rely solely on leg strength. Google "neuromusclar coordination", learn, and shutup

  • @pumitaproductions You are a dumb ass, my god.

I need to be in a life or death situation to know that swinging on a pull-up in training is stupid? Yeah and I've never had strength training coaches throughout my whole life for sports either /sarcasm.

And how in the hell is that "my logic"? My logic was that every muscle involved in a movement should be trained in the most effective manner. Swinging like a kid on a jungle gym is not superior to actually lifting yourself.

  • @panathinakosbear Learn about the importance of training the CNS and neuromuscular co-ordination before you make assumptions like that. You don't become a better boxer by being able to bench or press more, you don't say "I can bench more. And I punched a few times so I know how to do that." The CNS and muscular systems will adapt according to the stress efficiently. I'd rather have my life in the hands of someone who kips. You would too if you were actually part of something important.

  • @pumitaproductions Get over yourself, jesus. I know about the CNS, I know about sport/movement specific stuff, trust me bro I've been in almost every contact sport since I was 11 years old. What I'm telling you has nothing to do with that. All kipping does is generate momentum to slightly change the angle of the pull and make it easier. That's it. It's the equivalent of someone doing a bicep curl and swinging their back "hurr wut if i gotta lift something more practical durr"

  • @panathinakosbear Neuromusclar co-ordination. Too big of a word for you? Thought so. Hey, just stick to all your knowledge on "sport/movement specific stuff", see how far you're ignorance gets you in life. I have no use talking to a child here.

  • @pumitaproductions I was saying something different to try and relate but ok if you want to be a snobby bitch about it. By the way, it's "your" not "you're", that means "you are" DURR WUT GRAMMAR 2 GUD 4 U? C HOW FAR IMPROPER GRAMMAR GETS U IN LIFE ROFL

  • @pumitaproductions Also: " Seems like you're just a parrot who does whatever looks cooler. "

That's so ironic coming from someone who pays ridiculous amounts of money to go into this hip new underground "real" training gym purposely styled like a warehouse to make you feel like you're in a rocky movie.

  • @panathinakosbear I do my CrossFit training on base, along with the rest of my regiment.

  • @pumitaproductions Great, good for you. So you're using my money instead. No disrespect to the armed forces but for fuck's sake.

If you want to really be in top physical shape copy a Collegiate or Pro Rugby training program. It includes the sprinting, the plyometrics, the strength, the cardio, the explosiveness, everything.

You may not want to believe this but regular pullups have a much better carry over to kips than the other way around.

  • @panathinakosbear and if you actually knew anything about crossfit you would soon realize that they teach all of those as well if not more fully than any other programs out there

  • @20DavidX Yeah they do, but it's not as good. It's a way of being mediocre at everything. Like I said; a collegiate or pro rugby program is more beneficial to any athletic or practical purpose than crossfit is.

  • Kipping pullups are great - they're just a different way of doing them!

  • What? He is serious?

Thought this video was a joke.

  • Ya'll look like fish swimmin upstream.

  • @chemdude77

    Oh no............so sorry!

First rule of calling someone out on their "grammer" is to correctly spell GRAMMAR.

  • all you who are saying t hese are dumb or crap, try doing 50 deadhang pull ups in the middle of a crossfit competition.....you'd choose these, too.

  • @theswimlax

pretty much sums up why only pussies do crossfit really doesn't it?

  • @ElGrandeJiP

    FACT!

  • @ElGrandeJiP the idea of crossfit is to move as much weight as quickly as you can. whether the pull up is strict or done by kipping, the chin is above the bar. kipping is easier and if someone can finish 30 pullups before you because you chose to do it the less efficient way, then props to them.

  • @kyoool1 yeah that's why i said crossfit sucks. brb high rep cleans with the worst technique imaginable to 'move as much weight as quickly as i can'

  • @ElGrandeJiP

Go try 100 of these with a weight vest and then then tell us how many you were actually able to do. Don't be jealous because thousands of people aren't doing whatever your exercise plan is and they chose one that really brings results!

  • @skierdud89 lol try 100 standard pull-ups with GOOD FORM with a weighted vest...tell me what's easier

  • @Oblander yeah 100 standard pull-ups with a vest and perfect form is going to be a lot harder but not realistic. The idea of cross fit is to keep the hear rate elevated and do more total work. with standard pull-ups and a vest I'm burned out after about 50. but if I kip I'm doing them quicker, in less total sets and burning more calories and in less time so that I can incorporate it in to a bigger workout.

  • @skierdud89 to each his own I suppose. I've done both, and considering my training is an end in itself, the benefits I've gained from proper form resistance training outweigh the benefits of crossfit. As such, I have no real reason to do crossfit

  • @ElGrandeJiP have you every tried to do a crossfit workout? do one then try and call them pussies

  • @ElGrandeJiP its a full body workout dumb fuck. id love to see you get though one of these workouts. let me guess you can bench 500 pounds, but i bet you look like a fucking turtle

  • @KCnignag92 yess!!!!!!

  • @theswimlax EXACTLY!!

  • @theswimlax you know... arguments like yours are why i hate crossfit. crossfit promotes bad form. it's about doing as many reps as you can, not how WELL you do them. bodybuilding and powerlifting increase muscle strength and size. cardiovascular training increases endurance. cross training: makes you better at crossfit.

  • deadhang or die

  • Are they being electrocuted are something?

  • so retardet i staight pull ups are the best this is shit

  • @TheAsspeks You can't use proper grammer, and you have the spelling of a first grader, but you call them *retarded*? The correctional facility has GED courses, utilize them during your lockup!

  • so much hate lol... i used to think kipping pull ups were stupid, but i've since changed my mind: why? well its simple. kipping pull ups not only increase strength, but also train your body co-ordination and awareness.. meaning that you become more efficient at moving from position a to position b. it trains you to understand how all the muscles of the body work together towards one goal. if it were a life or death situation, i'd rather be a good kipper than have huge lats.

  • @pumitaproductions so tell me genius, how many life or death situations do you think anyone will ever be in where they are hanging on for dear life from a pull up bar? doncha think they'll be hanging from the side of a cliff or something? i daresay i'd rather have STRONG lats than be a good "kipper" in that situation

  • @ubergoat6060 Of course it's important to be strong, there's no doubt about that. Especially with hundreds of pounds on your back. Neuromuscular co-ordination and body awareness are much more valuable physical traits when it comes to situations like these (although all play an important role). Your body and mind need to have a good connection in order to execute movements efficiently and properly. Same reason parkour or gymnastics people train pk or gymnastics - not strength. Body awareness.

  • Looks like the are being proded in the ass by a penis

  • this exercise is a faggot exercise and not real, real chin ups is when u dont kip like a doll and goes slow down and up real shit this one is for dumb noobs

  • WAIT the kipping is intentional?!?!?! I thought they were stupid assholes but now I understand they are deluded assholes.

  • I spend 5 days a week doing Crossfit workouts, and I assure you - we do workouts with dead hang pull-ups, and guess what? WE CAN DO MORE DEAD HANG PULL-UPS THAN YOU CAN. I love youtube formwarriors than give them shit. You go back to doing 5 per workout and staring at those chiseled lats, douchebag.

  • I think I just lost 10 IQ points from watching this video

  • these are agility pullups, obviously. if you wantz to have big pretty boy muscles do dead hangs and iso moves.

  • @JamesonBlade Hell yeah, proper form is for faggots!

  • lol those are cheating pullups

  • Kippings are used to help you get specific strength growth for muscle ups.....stop hating like you know what youre talking about

  • @rfaz13 theres no "cheating" if you're training a technique that could save your life in field of duty one day...

  • This is... So bad for your shoulders.

  • @wrestle4life234 really how so? pretty sure no one I know that does crossfit has shoulder problems

  • ... or we could all be adults and go to the gym and work out like normal people do. Wow, now I wont hate, because anything that gets a tubby into the gym to work out is a blessing. These types of pullups however can only be judged on par with a form of cardio training. Real body building and experienced athletes would not want the tearing and stress put on their muscles and joints.

  • haha i love the haters of kipping pull ups bunch of fags who go to regular gyms and get hard ons looking at their own muscles in the mirror. if you can do kipping pull ups you'll be able to do more strict pull ups because you're working more muscles. try them for a month even a week then go back to strict you'll be able to do more. but you won't you'll just keep hating without trying it. LOSERS...

  • @jungleanubis kpu's are a good help to people that can't do regular pull ups. however, using more muscles, such as in a kpu, would be a bad use of time if your goal was to be able to do more strict pull ups, as you will work multiple muscles that are not used in a strict pull up, making it easier on the muscles that are used in a strict pull up. what you're saying is like saying that using your legs and back in a bicep curl is a good idea because more muscles are used.

  • ah i woulnd't knock these completely, its just a variation, their not saying dont do dead hangs

  • i lol'd

  • How to Perform Dolphin Bayings: The Instructional Video

  • full fake

  • Pull ups- I go down I go up

Kipping Pullups- I violently swing in the breeze like a pair of bamboo testicles.

  • And not single muscle was worked.

  • far.. so many uneducated people although i personally dislike crossfit kipping still has its uses. When i wanna train strength i just do 40kg dead-hang chinups, when i wanna do something thats more dynamic with cardio integration i do kipping pullups

  • Comment removed

  • The point of the kipping pullup is to PULL UP QUICKLY AND EXPLOSIVELY. It is not for massive muscle gain. Next, people will be saying that a jerk is a "cheating military press".

    IT HAS A DIFFERENT GOAL!!!

  • @tywonellington lol everybody in the olympics cheats on their military press!

  • This exercise should not have "pull-up" in the name. However, anybody saying this does not build strength has obviously not tried to workout with this exercise. I do pull-ups daily. One day, I decided to do Kippings for my workout. The next day, I was sore in muscles I had not felt in awhile. This builds strength, just different muscles. All the haters must be young and insecure. As you get older, you realize moving around is the important thing, whether or not its strict military form.

  • lmfao. this shit is hilarious. we call pushups on the knees girl pushups. why not just label this a girl pullup. don't get mad at me, blame the sry gene and subsequent hormonal cascade resulting from the endocrine system. bio101 ftw

  • Google "Kipping Pull Up PDF"

  • Orthopedic surgeons everywhere love this "pull-up".

  • more like cheat pull ups. wtf is this pussy ass horseshit?

  • these pseudo pullups wont build any real strength so why do them in place of correct pullups?

  • @tipsy3T Power. The end.

  • its a matter of power output: Work / Time

very functional and thus great exercise for health/fitness improvvement

  • ouch! my shoulders hurt!

  • IOW, kipping equals cheating, eliminate good form and call it performance

  • if enough people do this there would be a statistically significant number of injuries, total bullshit

  • Kipping pull ups are a great exercise to develop power (not strength) in the upper body. In gymnastics the upper body is used pretty much for strength (rings, pommel, parallel bars) so this would not be as useful for them.

  • substantially more dislikes than likes...DOESN'T THAT TELL YOU SOMETHING???

  • Five to six years?? I learned how to do consistent pull ups in a couple of months without kipping. And I could barely do one the first time. Wow. A one-handed chin up. THAT takes a hell longer.

  • the most retarded looking exercise I've ever seen. do them properly you tools

  • crossfit is dangerous, and people have died going thru their training. and lol those pullups look ghey

  • How do you kip if you are trying to climb a slightly inverted wall? You'll break your knees if you swing yourself like that.

  • >2011

    >Doing Crossfit

    ISHYGDDT

  • Kipping pull-ups are a full body movement. It is not exclusive....you can do regular pull-ups too.

  • oh and one more thing, bars dont hit back!
