  • There are always sicko love to make derogatory comments to show what kind of bigots they are.

  • Yeah the instrument plays you

  • There's something amusing about seeing the 'western union' and beer commercial in the background.

  • @RandomName31415 HAHAHAhaha yea !!

  • "If it were laying down flat I could understand it better, and if the sound had more a twang, etc: It took me a while but I found this family of instruments. They are probably one of the most lovely ones I know about. Violins and harps are probably what I like the most, although my ability to play is extremely limited, I still have a lot of respect for instrument users.

  • I have heard no other style that isn't directly related to this one that makes me feel this way. It is beautiful, like a channelling of the gods. And I feel it deserves respect, not some grimy comments that are completely unrelated and degrading. I would love to pick up this instrument or a Guqin one day. I thought I was drawn to celtic harps, but after having a small one, the first thing I realized was how uncomfortable the posture was for me to play it in a way I enjoyed, I kept thinking

  • I am incredibly frustrated at the very rude comments this young lady is getting on her amazing playing skills. It makes me feel ashamed that these people are likely to be from America considering they are speaking english. Around 6:43, it sounds so ethereal and calming. I am very drawn to this music.

  • Amazing! Beautiful!

  • Getting a hand job from her will leave permanent scars forever.

  • magnifique

  • Wow, beautiful to look at AND listen to!

  • so beautiful

  • it's beautiful, but it seems like your instrument plays you, rather than you playing the instrument. more power!

  • @johnwang8 Interesting comment since it is clearly that I was PLAYING the gu zheng, not the other way around.

  • @johnwang8

interesting comment since everyone can see clearly that I was playing the guzheng not the other way around.

  • Your fingers move so fast at the end of the first song, it is truly amazing! I love it!

  • That was fantastik ! Didnt seen anything like this before!

  • Man, that gave me shivers! I LOVE the Gu Zheng!

  • WHAT IS THAT INSTRUMENT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • @10293pokemon , It is called a Gu Zheng; traditional from China, though I think that other countries have variations of it.

  • @10293pokemon In Germany it is named "Zither"....

  • I practice my calligraphy in my sand to this music. I am truly at peace with this music and my calligraphy. Thank you so much.

  • I still listen to your CD, Bei Bei, "Quiet your mind and listen". thank you for sharing your music.

  • Sitting here teary eyed, at peace and so happy, this is beautiful. it is seeing into my soul and showing me my way. thank you so much for this Bei Bei, incredible!

  • BEAUTIFUL =)

  • Hauntingly beautiful, Bei Bei. Absolutely incredible. Please keep posting more!

  • do know her name

  • both the performer and the music are positively enchanting.

  • @xxxxGothmogxxxx Like most instruments the cost varies based on quality. A good instrument will cost a few hundred dollars US, a great instrument might run a few thousand. A guzheng priced below ~$150-$200 probably isn't very good, but it might be ok to try it out or for a child.

  • how much does this Guzheng usually cost, i have been interested in it along with the Pipa for some time now

  • I <3 You Bei Bei

  • Pure Awesomeness

  • Beautiful *****

  • absolutly beatuiful!

  • to these ears perfect, beautiful art.

  • Grace + Beauty + Virtuosity = Perfection.

  • @garspelman good comment

  • @royalkad xiè xiè.

  • Someone know any CD with this kind of music? :) Doesn't have to be all Gu Zheng but just traditional folklore music without any "new" beats.

Great video i could listen all day!

  • @Whesto Look under the video description. This two songs are on my solo album "Quiet Your Mind and Listen" on CD and downloads.

  • fantastic!!!

  • Long live Bei bei!

And long live Shawn Lee too :)

  • Absolutely beautiful playing. Was that recorded in Bangkok ? Once I heard something like this at the Oriental Hotel, I can never forget the experience. Bei Bei congratulations! I will go to look for your DVD-s and CD-s.

  • that IS the best thing i've ever seen....

  • nice performance can you teach me to play?

  • now that was amazing. i know guitar players whos jaws would drop. i find it interesting they have to keep a beat with the left hand on the lower cords and do all that crazy stuff with the right.

  • This song is absolutely gorgeous.

  • going to be searching for the music to young sprout for a long time

  • She's got the gift.

  • What an amazing musician she is! She played it so beautifully! Wow...

  • I'm in love with your second piece!

I would love to play it on piano. Is there any sheet music?

  • I have to visit you and watch these clips ever so often to recharge on my inspiration sister of Gu Zheng. Bravo!!! Such exquisite artistry and command over the instrument.

  • intense.

  • This is wonderful!

  • What 's the difference between koto and gu-zheng?

  • "The guzheng is the parent instrument of the Japanese koto, the Mongolian yatga, the Korean gayageum, and the Vietnamese đàn tranh. The parent instrument of the guzheng is the se."

    from Wikipedia

  • The koto (琴 or 箏) is a traditional Japanese stringed musical instrument derived from the Chinese zither (guzheng). It usually has 13 strings whereas the guzheng can range from 15 to 26 but usually there are 21 strings. I prefer the guzheng because it feels like fuller sound, if that makes sense.

  • The gu zheng you can purchase in China for about $500.00 whereas the Japanese Koto might cost you several thousands of dollars for half the string count. I have a gu zheng... I love it!

  • um... 500.00 guzhengs are probably pretty crappy. I have a 1200.00 one and it's just OKAY... if you want a good one, at least get one for 2000.00...

  • It's not always about the price, every instrument is an individual. I personally have found a very nice sounding guzheng for just under $400 after trying many out. You would be surprised what kind of quality instruments you can find just by trying them all out.

  • è uno strumento meraviglioso... e musica che scende nel cuore... grazie dall'Italia.

  • 非常好

  • 感情投入,气质非凡。

  • i could go to sleep to this...... i'm seriously trying to keep my eyes from closing. this is amazing~!

  • absolutely beautiful. to watch it is nearly hypnotic. by the way, stupid question but is it "B B" or "Bay Bay?"

  • Bay bay, I believe.

  • Her name is spelt; Bei Bei, though. Just incase you didn't know.

  • @Naut sounds like "Bay Bay" and means flower bud.

  • wow! how do i tune guzheng for this song?its so beautiful.

  • It is in G. G A B D E G

  • Thanks so much! most musicians just ignore questions. THANX!!!

  • @BeiBeizheng looks like a pentatonic scale of G--very fascinating to me, the tone and a half leap from E to G--I'll be practicing on my little uke on my lunch hour today. I love this beautiful sound! Thank you a million times over!

  • You are a very passionate performer. I wish I learned of you sooner so I could've have gone to this festival to witness your talent.

How much are lessons? I am interested in learning this beautiful instrument from a great talent like yourself. Please message me back with information (not through commenting back because I will probably not check it). THanks!

    mickael

  • Right at 3:26, you drop the Bomb!

This instrument is tuned to Pentatonic scale?

  • For the first song, it is in Pentatonic scale. The second song is in diatonic scale.

  • I do not like modern Zheng ,too much technic/too little music. Your performance is so great, it open my mind for modern Zheng music.

  • nice music!

  • I'm not a fan of Asian music, but it's obvious that you are a virtuoso on the guzhang. There's a lot of emotion among the beautiful tones.

  • only the music matches her wonderfull beuaty

  • bezaubernder Klang. 5 Sterne und schöne Grüsse.

  • Wow~~~ Beautiful girl, beautiful music, amazing finger moves.... equal... Awsome~..hehe..

  • Wow. I never use the word "awesome", it's so overused... but what else can you call it?

Beautiful music, beautiful lady, awesome talent.

What a shame that the no-talent pop-stars make the millions of dollars... I guess the real artists will have to be content "only" with having the real talent, and being the ones who contribute to the world something of true and lasting beauty... and I hope artists such as Bei Bei would also have financial success.

  • Thank you :)

  • hey,, you play it very well .. but i've heart a few folds:P

    at 1:31-1:33. but its oke..

  • and then she had a different guzheng the second part? idgi..

  • i heard she is related to "sound of china" i wonder which guzheng on there she has...i can see it was made by the tianyi factory..but idk which 1 that is...sumthing with Rosewood..

  • The first one is Tian Yi concert rosewood. The second one is 27 stringed.

  • Okay. Thank you for responding, I was really wondering why. Oh, and I heard you opened up a new school in Costa Mesa. Is that true? I live in Huntington along with my friend, and we're both looking for an instructor.
