  • What kind of wax they use? can you make your own wax?

  • For the wax injector, you can find them on ebay, sometimes on craigslist and also most of your jewelry tool supply places sell them. I bought mine used for about 1/4 the cost of a new one and it works great. The molds can be made 2 ways. I use a 2 part compound which makes a clear silicon mold. You'll need a vacuum machine for this with the bell jar.

  • The other way is to make them of vulcanized rubber. You would need a Vulcanizer for this. In either case you will need the appropriate kind of mold frame depending on the machine you choose.

  • @hellotoy21 Two questions - 1)how many times can you reuse an RTV mold, such as this one? 2) do you need to make some sort of outlet vent/cut so the wax flows properly with no bubbles ? OR does the wax just spray out the front when it's filled up?

  • The Process is to make jewelry. It can also be used for various other applications. Machine prototype parts, Metal sculpture, etc. The first machine, the crock pot, doesn't remove all of the wax. It just melts out the bulk of it. The second machine is for completely removing the wax and tempering the mold to accept the molten metal. Read the Info boxes for more specifics. If you want more information send me a message and I can elaborate for you.

  • One more thing, The rings usually cast at a smaller size than the wax so don't forget to accommodate for this when making your rings for the molds. Good luck.

  • It depends on how many you going to make. You must resize the ring in wax before you cast or in metal after. What I do when I have a style I'll be making a lot of, I make one of each size in the wax from copies of the original, cast them and copy them to make rubber molds in all whole sizes (5,6,7,8,9,10). This allows me to make lots of rings in lots of sizes quickly. The downside is cost if your only making 2 or 3 copies.

  • If you add the wax, then Vulcanize a mold there is a good chance you will melt the wax into the rubber and ruin the mold. You might consider something like a Silicon mold which cures at room temp.

  • Hey what would it take to have you put together a list of things I need to cast small 1" by 1" steel parts.

Can I get you an email address, PayPal, etc. I have searched for freaking days on the web and all the websites are full of equipment costing tens of thousands of dollars. I'm looking to produce small turnkey parts.

  • Check out ebay. Steel casting is a little different than silver casting. I can tell you what you need for casting silver, bronze and gold. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with all things needed for steel casting.
