  • i love this - thank you Op139 for uploading

  • This video is a favorite on Pakistan

  • They sang this at my church yesterday it was awesome!!

  • Isaiah; 9-6,Praise the Lord!

  • I just got this CD today :D

  • I truly don't care about the religious lyrics... Such a great song.

  • When I was in high school, a priest (who loved Handel) said that he could cram more notes into one measure (??) than anyone else. Love this carol. Thanks

  • I'm and atheist and all I can say is beautiful. i love classical music.

  • on 2:51-3:00 I always imagine myself in Heaven walking along an isle of a huge cathedral in the most beautiful robes that man could not even sew together, and when I reach the end of the isle I see Jesus and I take a big bow on 2:57. I'm not even joking I got this image by listening to this for the first time.

  • @1lonelyprince well said!! and after a long life hear on earth, you will!!:) and you will be in His fatherly warm arms:) Merry Christmas!:)

  • I have to sing this for my Christmas show with everyone else in the show. We don' sound like that though... We sound like a bunch of kids with little kid voices. I mean even the guys have high pitched voices!

  • cant stop listening.

  • I remember singing this in choir! The melismas were sooo challenging!

  • goosebumps! just... goosebumps!

  • Just thank you Mr Handel...

  • i'm an atheist, and I love this shit. :)

  • AND THE GOVERNMENT SHALL BE UPON HIS SHOULDERS. Love you, Handel.

  • this song is bland without trumpets and timpani which makes it more thunderous and majestic!!!!!!!

  • Using this to practice with as I'm singing it with the Music in the Mountains Chorale in December.

  • I must say... Only Godcan give this sort of music to humans to write this down!! WONDEFRFUL COUNSLER THE MIGHTY GODTHE EVER LASTING FATHER PRINCE OF PEACE!!! and you were why HANDLE was dancing when he wrote HALLELUJAH!! when I meet him in Heaven I will sya Thank You MR. HANDEL!

  • I'm an atheist, descended from both atheists and believers, but mostly, from musicians. and singers. This is gorgeous! I think it's the recording I grew up on.

  • I'm an atheist, and I love this music. Belief is no more required to enjoy this piece, than a belief in the ancient Germmanic gods is necessary to enjoy Wagner's Ring.

  • I don't know why people get so offended by the religious meaning of the song.

Be mature and just appreciate the beauty of the music.

  • @crazyman2994 "the religious meaning of the song." and "the beauty of the music."

Can you have one without the other?

  • @Elorx I think it would have been better for you not to be posted this

  • very good. Beautiful chor.

  • Thank God for his Blessings this is a blessing Isaiah 9:6

  • heavenly!

  • @BenLarden94 Thanks man! - Now I can never be unheard...:)

  • This is splendid, and more exuberant and joyful than the LSO version- something this piece needs to be!

  • I am a conducting student and we are conducting many movements of this landmark piece and this is one of my favorites

  • The best composition in the english language was made by Händel and he is a german :D

  • @Koroliska He worked and lived in England for most of his life though...

  • You don't here anything like this from Islam, or Buddhism.

  • @51362879 thats because you don't look

  • @GuvernorDave OK, then, educate me and point me in that direction.

  • @51362879

It is true that Western music has reached unequalled tops. Do we find elsewhere for example some Bach, Haendel, Telemann, Mozart, Vivaldi, Rameau, Couperin, Lully and Corelli?

  • @51362879 Get a Job! What an Idiotoic thing to say!

  • @typestter I have a job, and when did truth become idiotic?

  • I have to listen to this piece for music appreciation. I think this is probably my favorite song I've heard all semester.

  • I am only 6 and I love this song! ! !

  • Beautiful praise! Simply quoting the glorious word of God as written in the book of Isaiah. If you are an atheist, as a couple have acknowledged that they are, I recommend strongly, just for awhile omit the music and hear the word of God. We don't praise Him for no reason.

  • Wonderfull!!!

  • Dear dustpelt1: I'm an atheist and I like it very much.

  • @JediStrifeVII

I don't know why it is only prince, I just know that the Handel (at least in this instance) quoted the King James Bible verbatum :)

  • Beautiful and so true!!!

  • The 4 people who dislike this are either atheists or that they have no taste in music at all.

  • @dustpelt1 I'm an atheist and I absolutely love singing the Messiah. Think before you go and stereotype all of us.

  • @dustpelt1 Haha, I am an atheist and I love the entire Messiah work. So disliking this has nothing to do with being atheist. I have sang it in my choir for the last five years of my life and plan on doing it for the rest of my life. I don't believe what it is talking about but I can appreciate the absolute music genius that Handel was.

  • @dustpelt1 Not saying that you're right, not saying you're wrong either. However, that was a bit disrespectful, don't you think?

  • @dustpelt1

    I totally agree.

  • @dustpelt1

    its 6 now

  • @dustpelt1 Because atheists can't appreciate the fact that some religious music can be fucking awesome?

  • @dustpelt1 I am an anti-thesit, meaning I am glad there is no god, but I still enjoy this music, the same way, you might enjoy Wagner's Ring, without the necessity of a belief in the Norse gods.

  • @dustpelt1 I'm an atheist and I love this song. Doesn't mean I have to take the lyrics to heart, you pathetic little bigot.

  • @patrick112590 he wasnt saying that all athests dont like this kind of music, he was just saying that its a likely cause. you are obviously among those who appreciate the music.

  • @Musicalme96 You can't say what he meant because you're not him. Let him speak for himself.

  • @patrick112590 if one understands another, then he can speak for the other

  • @Musicalme96 And how do you know you understand him? I'm afraid you can't know that, just as you can't possibly know some other things that people insist on believing in (and, I might add, forcing on others). I'm sure you catch my drift.

  • @patrick112590 how can you be so sure that i "catch your drift" if your "drift" is that i cant be sure that i understand other people

  • @dustpelt1 i like hardcore death metal and i even like the messiah, both the christmas and easter parts

  • @neji100 dude youre not the only one :D \m/

  • @dustpelt1 I'm not religious, but I still think this is a beautiful piece..so maybe you're just rude?

  • @dustpelt1 Being atheist has nothing to do with disliking this and you are retarded FOR thinking otherwise....This is a work of art and a masterpiece. Not believing in got won't make a normal man dislike true art.I am an atheist and this is magnificent

  • @HITTHEROAD19 Please stop saying someone that was simply trying to put into words how beautiful this piece is is 'retarded', and just listen to the beauty!

  • @Thorin129 Yea, And the best way to say how beautiful this is is to insult atheists

  • @HITTHEROAD19 What else can one do to atheists but insult them. they are a plague much like zombies in Dawn of the dead - all they want to do is eat the brains of the living because they are dead inside and have no brains of their own.

  • @holypig777 Lol so true

  • @dustpelt1 There are many of us who might not share the belief but enjoy the beauty, majesty and uplift of the piece.

  • Classic!

  • my school choir is singing this song

  • Amazing :D, just one thing:

1:27 - the everlasting pervert?! What are the actual words? You see I can't make it out, but I can't imagine Handel putting that in those words :|

  • @MilovsTheUniverse it's" the Everlasting Father"

  • @megaman90 Thanks. I do have a bit of trouble understanding choirs at full blast. At least it's not in latin XD

  • @MilovsTheUniverse haha yeah I know what you mean.

  • I luvs it <(-^-^<)

  • Just epic!

  • this is soo incredible. handel is brilliant!

  • who are the idiots that disliked this

  • @alexpelaez97 atheists.

  • @michgoblue24 I'm agnostic and I still love it. My friend is a complete atheist and he loves it.

  • We sang this this year in chrous, we rocked, lol (:

  • Beautiful!!!!!!!!!

  • Very Very Awesome!!!! : )

  • sing this for my choir concert on Tuesday

  • the one I have been looking for....I can hear it from my Childhood...only the London Phil should have right to this masterpiece

  • 270 years old and fresh as ever...

  • who could possibly dislike this

  • i'm playing this in my school orchestra. go first violin!

    no singers though

  • @sbmushroom I'm playing this with my school orchestra, too. I play the viola. Luckily we have a choir. We're a big orchestra but we still haven't got any trumpets.Got a concert on the 22nd of December (let's hope we get it right)

  • Handel = God's hand in action. What an inspired man to bring this piece of heaven to earth. Handel's Messiah - it should be The Messiah's Handel.

  • HEY I GET 2 SING THIS SUNDAY AT A CHRISTMAS CONCERT!!! LUCKY ME I GET 2 SING A WHOLE MESSIAH!!!! I ALSO GET A SOLO ON THE SONG "BEHOLD" YAY ME!!!!

  • i wish i was born back in the time when this heavenly beautiful masterpiece

  • Satan cringes every time he hears this song!

  • @yadatalatura Satan isn't real you dolt.

  • And his name shall be called Wonderful ! Counselor ! The Mighty God The Everlasting Father The Prince of Peace !

  • me-thinks they need to be a tad more passionate and "uppity" when they sing this song, especially at the start.

  • .umm great song ;)

  • I really love this performance. many thanks to you all.

  • La mejor canción de navidad !! Es hermosa !! It brings peace to me.

  • love it!

  • @Gloria0004 The suggestions YouTube gives are undoubtedly based on the times a tag has been entered into the 'search' field. Let us all respect each other's taste ... even if it is bad taste in your opinion...

There is no bad taste, only undeveloped taste.

  • You know what's sad is that I started to type "Handel Messiah" into the search bar, and when I got as far as "Han", the first suggestion was "Hannah Montana". Youtube needs to change the first suggestion to Handel or they obviously have no taste in music.

  • @Gloria0004 Ha....this.

  • @Gloria0004 I agree! You can't even BEGIN to compare the two!! Sad though isn't it? I also don't think the You Tube handlers have any taste in music..

  • @Gloria0004

Totally agree. This song makes my soul dance and if someone doesn't has a similar feeling, then something is not working right.

  • @Gloria0004 Kindly complete the name of Handel by writing his first name in order that you can open the Messiah score.

  • magníficas voces y música... gracias Handel

  • Why is he only the "Prince" of Peace? Should he be the King of Peace? Or if you didn't want to use the word King (because "King" is used a lot) there are so many other words like Czar, Maharajah, Kaiser, Shah, Khan, President. Yeah, the President of Peace sounds good.

  • @JediStrifeVII President of Peace. Fantastic. I'll tell my choral conductor to change it.

  • Singing this song in choir. I haven't been able to get it out of my head all day. It's so catchy. I'm going insane!!!!

  • Laud Him all ye nations. He alone is worthy of worship, honor and praise.

  • Almighty God, the ever-last ing Father, The Prince of Peace!!!!!

  • Most versions of this piece start faster and then slows down after the intro but in this case it is the opposite. Wonder what Georg Friedrich had preferred...:)

  • @niklash72 if only he was still alive to demonstrate what he wanted from this song.... but on a personal level i prefer it to have a very joyous tempo not too fast not too slow.... bringing the climax starting at 1min20secs

  • Love The Messiah. Thank you for posting.

  • SO AM I! I LOVE this song! I did it for the Christmas Program at my school last year in fourth! And the Haleighluya chorus too! P.S. I know I spelled Haleighluya wrong. Sorry! I'm a bad speller! So anyway! I ABSLOUTLY LOVE THIS SONG!

  • I love you God for sending Jesus, The great and pure SON took our sins So that we mcan spend forever with you

  • s d d f f f f mr m fm f r m dt d r d f r m this is where am dying for this handel. that's great work fron handel, who will be handel of this time?

  • I'm only 14 and I love this song!!!

  • love this song

  • LittleJ922 - You might to learn to spell !

  • This was the song we sang in our city christmas carol contest.......We won this piece.......its really a beautiful song.......Praise God!

  • speaking as an agnostic who still attends live perfomances of Messiah during the "holidays" because i am awestuck by the power of Handel's music to make me weep with joy & sadness, do any of you lot know that GFH meant for Messiah to be played at Eastertide, but the CHURCH had other ideas...

  • @MST3Kfanatic Yes, in fact the first performance was during Easter.

  • @MST3Kfanatic but jesus said that "you are the church"did you not know that you are the temple of your own thoughts?

  • God is indeed great. This is fabulous. My mother exposed me to Handel's Messiah at a very young age, and it continues to be my favorite Christmas music, after 35 years. It evokes such powerful feelings.

  • God is great, thank you Lord for Christ and His redemption.

  • The Messiah is a classic! Timeless and ageless. Brings back so many memories of high school Christmas concerts!

  • Just brilliant. So good that even the religious nonsense can't spoil it.

  • Easily one of my favorite parts!

  • That Bass/Tenor Section is Getting it!

Givepandasguns, Age has nothing to do with the appriciation of music. :)

  • that is classically incredible!
