a car accident wouldn't put him in purgatory, had to be something else. whatever he did isn't made clear. let me explain to those who don't know. the way purgatory works is that you have commited many sins that you've repented for, but you've wounded your soul quite a bit, but not destroying it to the point where you go to hell. purgatory is a place where your soul is purified before you can enter Heaven, and your time there can vary quite a bit
