Hey penis head-- Please stop waisting peoples time leaving comments on hunting videos.Nobody cares about how you feel If it bothers you don't watch it. I saw your comments on 5 hunting vids today and you are starting to piss me off.
You have to compare this episode withe final episode and watchig Jake lookig out of the porthole and seeig the wormhole appear ad know that he's thinking about his father. This was what Deep Space Nine focused on..a widowe and his son bonding together in the vast frontier of space fro a space station and how it grew through both happy and tough times. This was Deep Space Nine's finest episode.
This single episode since it first aired has continued to influence how I view father/son relationships. To this day I tear up each time I watch it. Thank you for posting this!
I forgot to mention this, but my son, who lives in Cicninnati, and I are very close. When he almost lost me on 12/21/2010, he was distraught in the extreme. However, with God's help, I pulled through. He himself will be a father on 7/3/2011. There is no bond like that of a father and a son. I recall Michael Jordan and the close relationshiop he had with his father before his untimely death.
Likewise, tears come to my eyes too. One of the most poignant episodes of a love between a father and a son of any movie I've seen and I'm 61 years old. My own father has been gone for 4 years come June.
One of the most memorable episodes of DS9, on par with Th Inner Light on TNG. When I first watched it I was surprised by how moved I was, and great work Tony Todd, great video too, thanks.
I am very close to my sons. Every time I watch this episode, I am confronted with an uneasy, yet very real truth...mortality. I replace Jake with my own two boys, Joseph or Jacob, and I lose my sense of Alpha ego...I break down. The thought of seeing my sons lose me while they are young.........anyway, it's a beautiful storyline and this is a Masterpiece tribute. Thank you....
As a Hardcore Trekkie for 30 years and a Niner, I recall watching this when it first aired and being moved even more then when I watched "The Inner Light". Now that my son is 7 years old and my father has been gone for 8 years, there is no more meaningful Star Trek episode to me. An awesome tribute to one of Trek's finest hours. "To my father, whose coming home"........and to second chances!
God how I miss this show :( How I miss the very essence of perfection in every story told through Star Trek. If there is something I could wish for again then it's to forget everything I know about Star Trek and watch it all over again... It's such a curse to be in love with Star Trek...
A work of heart and soul. This episode to this day still makes me cry especially at the end when the older Jake tells the timeless Ben that he must go back. Cut the cord at that moment to reset and dodge what happen last time. Anyway beautiful.
My wife and I are divorcing. But this reminded me of how we BOTH cried, when we saw The Visitor for the first time. Bonding with her through this episode and The Inner Light, will be a happy memory for me - thank you for reminding me of it! Thank you SO MUCH!
This was my favorite episode of DS9. The first time I watched it, it made me cry. Me and my father are really close. Thank you for making/posting this video. This is worth way more than 5 stars.
I think its ironice that the two best episodes of the Star Trek series - the Visitor and Inner Light both had really nothing to do with science or technology but with people and emotions. With family, parents and the love that holds us all together.
Lovely tribute, thank you so much for putting it together.
I don't think it's ironic at all. Many will say that science fiction really is the way to tell stories of humanity but putting it in the strange setting is what makes it more observable.
I do agree that both are lovely episodes, though. Tony Todd as adult Jake was magnificent, and Avery Brooks is always made of awesome.
When I first watched this episode, I was just a son....15 years later, I am now a father of 4, including a 6 month old son....I can only hope that our bond as Father and Son is as close...and that he grow through life strong, healthy, happy and with good memories...my compliments to Avery Brooks and Cirroc Lofton for a performance that has been special over the years!
I can relate. When I was this episode, I was still in junior high, and now I'm a father to a 1 yr. old boy. It's so tough not being able to be where he is now. I wish I was though. Even if things didn't work out between his mother and I, they'll always be in my thoughts, prayers and a special place in my heart. He'll always be his father's and mother's happiness and joy. We love him very much! Thank you for posting this video. :)
This is my favorite DS9 episode. Duet is the second. Thanks for posting. And PS omla1981, there's nothing wrong in embracing your humanity- And don't let anyone tell you different!!
although DS9 was a far superior series to voyager, i have to say the episode "drone" was a truly moving episode. In the same category as "the visitor".
have you seen the voyager reviews by SFDEBRIS on youtube??.
As much as i like voyager he makes some excellent critical points about the shows writing and character flaws. Now i thought i liked the episode "the 37's" but he did a review of it and i have to say my view has changed.
5 ppl hate their father imo

Agreed, Ds9 is much darker than other series of star trek but it's the most close to me... Deeper caracter exploration, more emotions love it!

Yes, this and Inner Light were the two best episodes of any of the Star Trek series, including the movies.
