  • shit!! where did i hear this from or which others do the covers ??

  • Great song! Great sound!

  • Thanks for posting.

  • This is Carl Perkins one of the finest originators of 50's Rockabilly music, not some second rate imitator... Let's get this straight, the Beatles are a 60's boy band who sang bad versions of everybody else's songs.

  • @MrDeejay45 ...That is, until about 1965, when they released Rubber Soul

  • @MrDeejay45 But The Beatles only covered songs on the BBC album, bits of Rubber Soul and a few on Please Please Me. Their actual song writing was miles above Carl Perkins, as much as I love him. magine Carl writing an epic like Strawberry Fields- madness!

  • In an unisued version of this song from this session Jerrys playing is more clearly heard. That's also why he(Jerry) is on the Million Dollar Quartet session, because he was playing on Carls recordings that day. The sessison was in fact for "Matchbox", so in fact later after this was recorded Elvis dropped by.

  • sick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This version has the best bass line.

  • I was listening to Albert King & Stevie Ray Vaughan's "In Session"...decided to research this song...low & behold, it's Carl Perkins...Love it...thanks for posting!

  • That Sun record's sure fine lookin' man,

    Wow, it's something else.

  • I need to get a record player

  • @JCKustom

Yes, records are so much fun too play! It's also just as much fun to find records at garage sales and thrift stores. I would recomend a crosley. They have great sound quality, readily available low price parts that are (for the most part) interchangable, great prices on players, and nice old-style styling.

  • The Beatles turned me on to Carl, thanks!

  • I personally like Ringo's version better.

  • Listen to Jerry go! Great video / song. Very cool!

  • fantastic.

  • classic music!

  • I Love <Pa Gerkins< Go Cat Go..

  • LONG LIVE ROCK-N-ROLL!!!!!!!!

  • Pure class - thanks

  • for anyone who doesnt know- this is originally a blind lemon jefferson song. his version sounds quite dissimilar

  • yeaaahh!

  • This is 1956. Folk just can't understand the effect this had on the pop / rock 'n' roll scene. It blew us away

  • Awesome man! I have this 45, but mine is so scratched and worn, it isn't even worth playing.

  • thats shows its a great tune the fact its been worn out from so much play

  • Yeah man. Carl Perkins was one of the best...period. I used to live near is hometown in Tennessee.

  • great song by carl

  • A true classic! Stinging guitar breaks, this is one of the best

  • rockin good news!

  • great great great carl!!

one of my preferit rockabilly singers!!!!

  • The Beatles recorded this with Ringo on leads and I think Carl was in the studio ...

    Great song !

  • @airplaneguy53 Actually I like the way the Beatles did it with Ringo singing, but this is better. Carl should be better known today.

  • @airplaneguy53 And as you probably know Paul McCartney did a duet with Carl Perkins on Paul's "Tug of War" album, the song being "Get It". Great album. Wikipedia has an article on that album by the way, the article entitled "Tug of War (Paul McCartney album)".

  • Lewis denies it, but Jerry Lee is on piano! left hand only...

  • Yeah. The Killer was a session pianist for Sun until his career took off. He is also on Billy Lee Riley's Red Hot, which would have become a hit if Great Balls Of Fire had not been released. Rock on. King Killer!

  • Great stuff!

  • Awesome song, I've always liked Carl Perkins, along with Johnny Cash, and many others!
