I have the K3 and the K4. It doesn't matter to me which is faster, as long as it's fast enough to not bother me while reading. Both of them turn the page much faster than a real book, so it's fine.
Got both. As a hardware engineer, ran some lab tests and the older version of K3 firmware was slower only because the processor (cpu) is servicing a gsm module
The latest version of Kindle Keyboard (3) firmware is actually faster.
You were NOT hitting the keys on each Kindle at the exact same time. It's evident from your video if you would just review it yourself. I've seen a number of demonstrations now and the K4 is definitely faster than the Keyboard Kindle.
im sooo pumped to get my kindle on my bday. shipping will get it here ON my bday!!!!!!!!! so pumped im shaky. JK!! feelsm like im that excited though. im getting a kindle keyboard. i dont really like the layout of the kindle 4.i like the keyboard better because i think it will be easier to manuver..... sory if i sound like a retard.
the new kindle is faster and there is no black screen on any page turn. isn't that big difference but this makes reading a way more fluent and enjoyable.
i've been using the thing for a year now. The amount of materials that I've read in this last year is just phenomenal. The refresh thing never bothered me and you get used to that.
@astarothgr I really dont know why people bother about that soo much... Ever read a book? You have to turn the page there too and it takes longer than the kindle needs to flip the page...
Hi guys. Do you know whether Special Offer Kindle 4 can function normally outside of the US (i mean device registration and stuff like that)? I'ts not officially sold in Russia but I want to get it from eBay. And will it be able to read any PDFs from any sources? Thanks.
@pettycur they cut the speed on the kindle 4 buy refreshing the e-ink display every 6 page turns compared to the kindle keyboard where it refreshes after every page. the black flash is the page refresh by the way. i have kindle keyboard and i love it and the refresh does not any me, its faster than actually turning a page in a book anyways :D
@lewys258 Thanks for your feedback! In fact I've been trying to convince my wife to go for the Kindle. Up until now it hasn't been possible to see a K here in France but we were in Scotland this summer and she had a look at one. Her reaction was that the refresh cycle was what would stop her from using one. I suppose she'd have to buy one, have a try, and send it back if she really couldn't put up with it. Maybe that's what I'll try that approach!
4th gen kindles are good, but the physical keyboard feature will be missed on non-touch versions. All in all, I just love my kindle 3. And I wouldn`t trade it for a non-keyboard version with a microsecond faster page turn. I assume that the virtual keyboard on Kindle touch will work good and I might get that one. Plus, the 3g feature is just too good to be ignored.
I read with my K2 on the table and do not actually hold it. Now, with the little buttons even smaller, the Kindle actually moves when the buttons are pressed because there is no resistance from the table. I would not like this so will wait for the Touch or just keep lovin' my K2.
Kindle 4 seemed faster than 3 at the beginning because it went straight to the page and didn't have the black screen until the last example. Plus how is battery life? I know it went down to one month but they confused me with them saying they got it from 30 minute reading tests, so does mean its still the same just half as long because a month is still a long time. It looks very tempting to get

The Kindle 3 is iMX35 (532MHz ARM).

@astarothgr what about PDF's?
is it easy to read them or?
wladosu 4 months ago
@wladosu If the PDF is writing only I would recommend changing the screen position landscape as it is much easier to read them that way.

Page turning as fast as the blink of an eye perhaps, but that blink is very irritating and off-putting. I don't think I could put up with it!
