Same goes for GSP and even Mir. Again, I'm not disagreeing with you, striking is VITAL, but I think a good ground game is a bit more important.

brock exposed a few fighters who thought their 'skill and experience' was enough. maybe they are good, but not as great as they thought.

i don't favor brock, but i can tell you one thing...what brock did was EXPOSE MMA player's current underdevelopment. it can take you less that 3-4 months to a perform a decent takedown in bjj or wrestling. it takes years to develop confident punching and kicking...that's the inadequacy of a LOT of mma players.
there's no way brock could've secured a belt in k-1 or boxing...but in mma...
those top guy's, especially mir, should've stopped the sideshow by the 2nd fight.

@heykevinb Dude, it takes years to become good at BJJ. Maybe not as much wrestling, but coming from a guy who does Muay Thai and does BJJ, I can assure you, BJJ is harder than Muay Thai. I mean, watch Akebono vs. Royce Gracie. Gracie ain't a great striker, but he can fight off his back. I mean, if you put Lesnar in the ring with Gracie when Gracie was in his prime, Lesnar would've gotten killed. Hell, look at any GSP fight or Cro Cop vs Nelson. Nelson's better at BJJ, and it showed.

@heykevinb It does take years to learn how to perfect said armbar to hit it from many positions and hit it flawlessly with your eyes closed in only a couple seconds. That's what separates somebody like Shogun Rua or Anderson Silva from a Lesnar. Silva will always be known as a better fighter than Lesnar, because he can finish a match many different ways. Same goes for GSP and even Mir. Again, I'm not disagreeing with you, striking is VITAL, but I think a good ground game is a bit more important.

...ground game a bit more important? having sound basic grappling skills is mandatory having above average striking is going to help you keep the belt. look at all the belt holders today...they are utilizing superior striking placing them in the upper 5%.
