thanks for your comments! I performed this piece for many people. The reactions are always the same.....one of vulnerable heartfelt feeling not in the head. I've arranged & performed it many ways and this is the most effective way to generate feelings from an audience. It's about feelings not notes. Marimba is always best experienced live....visual/audio recordings never transmit feeling. Your thoughts are sound and I've done it that way. Never again tho. The magic is in the 8th notes.
Not the best arrangement of the piece: the upper part is supposed to flow like a sustained melody. Individual notes shouldn't be very distinct. When arranged for marimba, performers usually don't limit themselves to four upper notes per 1 bass note, as the marimba is much more staccato than the guitar, but instead play it as a roll. Otherwise a nice performance.
