Most people do not realize just how fast and agile sighthounds are -- or how strong their instincts are to chase and seize fleeing creatures. They could seriously injure or kill your neighbor's cat or toy dog. In today's society, the legal liabilities should be considered.
what the hell? Any animal is dangerous! I happen to own afgans, cats, and small dogs (chihuahuas) together. I worry more about the chihuahuas hurting my afghan. lol
Loved it. I still mourn my afghan. One of my greatest joys was watching him play. Looks like you have a great place for your beautiful athletes. They are not the couch potatoes some people mistakenly think they are, much to their horror when their favorite couch is eaten. :o)
skisandhoses; Yes indeed. They're not statuesque show dogs by nature. They are funny clownish commediens. My second Hound came after my second baby and I always regret not having as much time to play as I had before.

Two of our Afghans were stolen when they ran out of our yard while we were away. My dog stayed in the yard, and our male was brought back to us. We had our dogs chipped, but still doesn't matter if someone wants to steal them and sell them they will.
Yes it's a heartbreak. For years after, I wondered if he was being mistreated or suffering. When I advertised, I had an interesting response from a semi-professional dog tracker. he said that the highest number of missing dogs are in areas where there are medical schools that use dogs for testing. The labs are supposed to only use homeless dogs from the pound, but they pay and don't check.
Regardless. Dogs trust humans. No dogs should be used for testing. Make testing on ALL DOGS ILLEGAL
The dog testing bit is a tad off topic, for which I will just say as a scientist myself I would not test on dogs, especially gorgeous Afghans!! I have no reason to at all, but if it came down to it I would rather test on a dog than myself. The only things I've worked with in school were C. elegans, which aren't that big of a deal, and I learned a lot from them.
Were they on alchohol? LOL! Adorable dogs! I marked this as a 5 star and my fav. video just so you know! But it isn't me who's nice, it's you for such a nice video.
My afghans would run like this together too---their favorite thing was to feel the wind in their faces as they ate up the countryside running!!! They are great dogs.
Right you are. Yours are beautiful, do you breed as well? I live in Ireland and have 4 Greyhounds, rescues,13 and 10 years old, I would like to have an Afghan some time in the future and would love to chat with owners, lovers about the breed. Are they very different from other sighthounds? thanks, Sydney

another was snow leopards, these dogs love the snow, and can run just as fast in it, haha cant wait to get my 9 week old puppy today.

As goofy as they may look, these hounds were bred, I think to hunt things like tigers.
