ok so i have build # 2.32.651.2. it says " 'adb' is not recognized as an internal or external comman, operable program or batch file. what do i need to do. i followed all the steps exactly and cant get past this part. this is a stock phone.

i get everything your doing and when it gets to the part where it unpacks the revoked files and the big revoked word comes out on the CMD screen i check my phone on the app tray and i dont see my SU app why is that? and i did the RUU to convert to .5 version...any clue or help?

hi ive tried this method and it wouldnt work...becouse on the command promp it woulndt find the sources i downloded to my Cdrive... so i tried universal androot and that wouldnt work becouse it told me (no fugu) please help me find another way to root my hero 2.1 to 2.2..thank you

@toxic2ful Sorry you have to downgrade for the methods I have up. the andrrot app works with builds ending in .5 or .6 but theres another app called Z4 root I think thats the name and I heard it works but havent played with my epic lately since my Epic . but if you still need help message me.

ducksrule39- what you actually need to do is move the zip file that he told you to put into the "tools" folder. You actually need to move those zip files into "platform-tools". For some reason the download has another folder and inside the android-sdk-windows folder it has both tools and platform-tools. if moving hte files doesnt work try opening the actual SDK exc. file and update the software. this should fix your problems.

if it says adb not found the you must not have the software on the computer to recognize it your cpu has to recognize it call your customer service sprint helped me and i found out that wa the problem reply or get back to me in my inbox on this comment

@madlad91 ROMs are just customized ROMs that have more features . Like the CM6 ROM for the Hero gives you 2.2 features . And we all know that good because the Hero stopped upgrading at 2.1

@alfredsutube1 if your software is up to date you're gunna have to downgrade your hero to 2.27.651.5 or lower (if there is one) to be able to root it. Otherwise there's this lock on it that doesn't allow rooting to go down. Took a lot of internet hunting for me to find that nice tidbit out

Hey @AndroidAdvocate I keep getting stuck on step 7. When I go on to my hero the Superuser Permissions app is not there. I read somewhere that I had to do the RUU thing. I download that and it says that I need to update to a newer version. I dont know what they are talking about. If you could help in anyway, it would be greatly appreciated. Other than that, awesome video. Very easy to follow.

In the beginning of the video you said that you had to downgrade your phone to .5

Do you have a video showing that or instructions because these are the only instructions i've found:

Run RUU let the 171 error appear. LEAVE THE PHONE AT THE HTC SCREEN!

Exit the RUU

Run the RUU again while the phone is still at the HTC screen.

It will run the second time.

RUU i believe is the .5 download I need to downgrade the phone, but can you go more indepth on what to exactly do, or is it pretty obvious?
