I'm leaving this comment for the purpose of showing the meaning behind the act of leaving a comment. The world we are in IS very different from what the present was when this video was made. I think that television is something to be looked at as a piece of history that was a stepping stone to the internet. The internet defines us in our actions and how we react to things and even what we consume, and although it creates it's own challenges, it gives us previously unimaginable equality. I guess.
And this is why i stopped reading magazines. And watching commercials. If you find yourself questioning your reality, then you will go mad. Because reality to us is only a perception. You will have to be a unique individual to have a better grasp of the world around you; and have a better understanding of what is really going on in this world. Because we will only see what our brain tells us to. If we let it that is.
@khuggf I would recommend you "BBC: How TV ruined your life" docummentary. Momentarily annoying, but mostly very entertaining and pretty smart. It covers some of the topics Berger did here.
It's a very good series, and he is a good thinker but i couldn't help but to see the big "S" on his forehead and all his conclusions are merely derive from his owned world views which are socialist and communist.
When you hear people in television moan about production budgets, I am reminded of this series and its like. It cost peanuts to make and is infinitely richer and more worthwhile than anything on TV tonight.
I love the series, but some of "Berger's deep thoughts" strike me as mental diarrhea. (just a few though, and I was yet to be born when the series was produced, so maybe I just can't evaluate them within the social and political context of their time.)
But still, great informative series. I wish they still made more of these. Hard to come by a good recent documentary nowadays.
Thank you so much for showing this last episode, indeed all of the 4 episodes. It was repeated recently on BBC Four, and I wasn't able to see the last one. So I really do appreciate that I was able to access it online. Thank you.

I beg to disagree...John Goodman909 the principle of ways of seeing remain the same. Wonder why new weapons never stop justifying old lies.

Just to add a thank you for uploading.
Berger must be 40 years out of date and yet no modern man questions our 'reality'.

Jesus. The way he analyses the subject, the ideas, it is so hard to watch, it's so heartbraking. with the silence too.

john berger has way more intergrity than any contemporary art critics i've seen recently, his perspective is totally unpretentious, thanks!
