I cried all the way through this video from the moment Tim Burton opened his mouth right until the end. The Cure are the biggest influence in my life, and also one of the most important things in my life. Thank you Robert, and please never die!!
Tim Burton says he really loves Robert's work... then why did Robert just sing a track from Burton's Alice in Wonderland and it was a cover? He could've written the whole soundtrack himself or at least participate with one original song...
I can't imagine how different my life would be if the cure wernt around they have really changed my life they just show so much emotion in everysong one moment you want to get up and dance and smile next minute you want to cry, Robert smith writes such beautiful lyrics and I hope I will get to see them some time in my life ;)
To me there really is not anything even quite better really and I know if they shall stop making music that is sad however but, totally irrelentvent really because how can we exspect so much when they have already given so much already! I do believe Robert will alway's make music however that is just what he does and who he is as a person really and even if it's not for my ears. I know wiyhout a doubt it will be beautiful and mind blowing I exspect nothing less.
There is absolutely no one else that deserve's this bmore than The Cure! They have given this wonderfullyand extraordinary gift of their EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD music for thirty yr's now. That is along time to give of yorself and the pepole closest to you That is the most godlike thing to do in my opinion.Future genteration's will hear their music and know that it is great music with out a doubt in my because that 's exactly what it is!
Glad the cure is getting recognition by peers and the like. Awesome set played following their award. I grew up with The Cure. Never did change my looks except in the morning facing the mirror. However the music and lyrics have a saturated effect and till this day are great to listen to.
HOLY CRAP! ~ was that grace jones rock'n to the cure? RSX sounds like he was have'n a hard time w/ the high notes ... his testicles have prolly dropped so far down his leg, he can't get his voice that high! ... praise be robert smith.
robert smith wow i just can't explain //and porl back,,,,,, amazing time to whistle to boris and there you go....... please come to mexico we really apreciate the band 15 years now.................congratulations woooooooooooow..
Tsss Robert Smith .. No existen las palabras adecuadas para describir semejante Heroe, Dios,Genio? el cual tu eres. Simplemente The cure es The cure y The cure Siempre sera The cure......
@lostdays i just listened to the lyrics or "The boy i never knew". Man, i could feel the pain in that song. i have a daughter and a son and i just could never imagine my life without them in it. I do believe you hit the nail on the head. There sounds like alot of regret and pain in those lyrics. so sad really.
i've watched several interviews with robert and many times he has mentioned that he didnt have any children. This was in the 90's so i am wondering' did he in fact ever have any children?
@lostdays Well i find that to be truly sad really. I mean, he will always leave his legacy in his music,no doubt but it is unfortunate that he will not leave his legacy with his children. I wonder why he never had any?
He said he wouldn't be patient enough . . . And he says Mary feels similarly. He spends a lot of time with his nieces and nephews and that's nice, but it would have been nice if he could leave some legacy. He's the greatest and really deserved this award. I love him.
@bloodflowers413 Really? He seems like such a patient person. I dont think he gives himself enough credit.I think he would have made a great dad ! But yes , i do think he is the greatest as well and I love him too!! :))
Robert sings quite different, i think he's nervous and out of place, cause this aint the normal audience! But he/the cure did an amazing thing, and they earned the full 100%! The Cure is nr 1!
I just looked this up that award, or tell off symbol is giving the finger! Damn if it were me I'd be like; 'What the hell is this for?" Hahah! I mean you want to be awaded, not insulted!
Oh well exscuse me JACKASS I didn't know?! we're not born to know how to tie our shoes. Learning never stops, but your just a 16 year old so I'll let you side. Anyway love Robert's music!
Robert and the band really deserved this. I can understand why Robert felt awkward. But he did a spot on speech and the whole band performed very well.
Anyone involved with NME could appreciate amazingly, beautiful music. So that is why The Cure won. The results were none biased because of the mainstream.. for once.
has there ever been a record where everyone was so happy with "every song?"I happen to be one of those people who love this song, it's happy sassy fun, what's not to like about that Robert is beautiful even at 50 mary lucky women
Cure was THE BEST live show I've ever seen hands down. I saw them in Michigan at Pine Knob and it was raining (classic, right) and I was in an entirely Robert Smith induced euphoria. Brilliant band!
i feel really lucky and blessed that i was born back then (1978) and grew up with this band. Whenever i hear these sounds and lyrics i remember why i allways wanted to be a musician :)
That track is the one Cure tune I don't love. I guess because everyone said Robert was making fun of folks who like that kinda thing so it wasn't cool to dig that one.
I love you Robert, Simon, Porl and former The Cure's members, Lol, Boris, Perry, Roger, Thank you for all the cool songs that are part of my live XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
woooow, i see already, it´s not for be cruel, but jason is very well when he wants, when they play friday im in love and just like heaven the drummer sound is ver very good, tHe CuRe LiVeS FoReVeR AnD eVeR

rock and roll shit burn guitars blow up drums distroy the music buisness, graffiti the planet smash vauderville crap band make music un popular make ash trays out of vinyal make your grannie listern to gabba wannabee rock the cure are a joke if god was a dj he wouldnt be here
On second thoughts, I'd like to make a serious comment here. You may or may not disagree with me. When I meant award, I meant the actual wide appreciation The Cure received and not that disgraceful model that they were presented. What's the point in making such models and giving them as awards? Was it so because NME wanted to show how their "radical" and "don't-give-a-damn" attitude? If so why host such an "Awards" show in the first place?
hmm this is just a guess but does anyone else think that the cure could possibly headline reading/leeds nme stage on the sunday. bacause last year the manics did and they won the god like genius award that year ???
Primero con MTV ICON, luego en el 2007 en los premios MTV Latinoamerica y encada region se reconoce la trayectoria de The Cure ya era tiempo que su Pais se lo reconociere.
