Now we have Rudd's Multilateral Conference! It is obvious the participants in a "Multi" lateral conference would be Rudd, Gillard, Combet and all the Trade Union Secretaries.
The reason the younger voters are being recruited is because they have never experienced the total devastation of union control, as was rampant in the 1970's, and again in the 80's.
Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard are treating young voters like puppets.
They feed them a line and a slogan and then send them out into the electorates like puppets on strings to spread the Party policy. This might be successful if there WAS some policy!
It seems all we are getting is Labor follies revisited. The Labor solution to problem solving is to sit around and have a chat!
The former BCE and BLF official was elected to Parliament in 1992
It seems Mr Purcell is well qualified to be a Member of the Labor Party and, with this type of union bullyboy tactic he should be welcomed to the fold by Mr Rudd!
On July 4, Mr Purcell was forced to resign from the Beattie Ministry after the he was accused of slapping a State Emergency Services director, and senior public servant from Emergency Management.
The CMC launched an investigation into the matter on July 25.
Mr Purcell won the seat of Bulimba in 1992 and sat on a wide range of parliamentary committees before becoming the Labor Minister for Emergency Services in July 2005.
Having been charged with two counts of common assault by the Crime and Misconduct Commission, Mr Purcell, the Labor Member for Bulimba, will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 24.
The former official of the Australian Building Construction Employees' and Building Labourers' Federation Pat Purcell has been charged with assaulting two Queensland public servants in July.
In March 2004, Labor had taken the lead over the Coalition in the opinion polls, and Latham had a higher personal approval rating than any Opposition Leader since Bob Hawke in 1983. Commentators began to discuss the serious possibility that Latham could be Prime Minister by the end of the year.
Howard and Costello had to work, brick by brick, until the $94,000,000,000.00 black hole was filled in! And the rewarded the public with tax cuts! No, not L.A.W tax cuts, real ones, many of them!
Hey, The undertaker is gone!
Do you really want to go back to grave digging again?
In May 1975 we were blessed with an all time high 90 day bills rate of 21.75% thanks to Gough Whitlam
Then, in December 1985 we had a follow up act from Piggery Paul, with a mammoth 19.56%! He tried very hard, but just couldn't get his J curve into the 20's
Then, in December 2001 we had the team of John Howard and Peter Costello, give us a miniscule 4.25%, after taking Labor's monumental interest rate apart.
It is incumbent on a Prime Minister to protect the citizens under his charge where the States have failed! It is not the blame of Mr Howard that the State Premiers have dismally neglected their constituents, but when it comes to finding solutions to overcome their inadequacies, he acts swiftly and decisively!
Don't criticise the Federal government for coming to the aid of your community, go and ask your State Member why there isn't so much as a First Aid Station in your local school!
I think Rudd would be better savaging McDonald, Reynolds, Harkin, Olsen and any other union "gentlemen" he would like to expel from the ALP, but no, he is too busy going after softer targets like Harry Quick, and his own brother! What a fine specimen of an Australian the Dudd turned out to be, but then again, for a puppet, his mouth moves a lot!
The public have seen through your little charade, and the froth and bubble has gone. Now we just have the kruddy ring of scum, and it smells!
The Australia Rudd wants to see is where style dominates over substance. He has no substantial policy except to copy the economic policy of the liberals and make heart warming (vacuous) motherhood statements.
Sir if you want to win the election set up a cost counter on how much of tax payers money australia spends per day on the iraq war! Point out clearly how much we spend on overseas detention centers to keep refugees out of australia because none have been kept out. If this money was spent on education we would have free universities.

When you go on mass media outlets (youtube) refer to yourself as an ex Liberal, or a "worker who has been dudded by an AWA (and use the pro forma script, just fill in a different company name each time) and pretend you have been a "long time supporter" of the Coalition.
I know, I have seen it at the meetings, but I realised it was so childish it would never fool anyone! (except the participants)
As Peter Costello described inheriting Labor's $80 billion debt and a million Aussies unable to find a job, wages at rock bottom, interest more than double current levels: "It was like cleaning up after the kids". As Ronald Reagan once put it " If you don't mention my age, I won't mention your inexperience". THINK before you throw the current good times away.
Kevin Rudd performed the greatest election stunt of all this morning! He went to the toilet! Now, as a man who claims he is in touch with the electorate, he just "wanted voters to associate with the fact that he is starting to give us all the sh*ts" !
You notice how his head wobbles around like a knob on a spring? That is body language for" I'm trying to dodge the truth here" It says, "I don't really have a clue what I am talking about" !
RUDD "THE DUDD "is a sleaze through & through. To win the election, he's promising all things to all people covering every subject. " MR DUDD"body ,you can fool some of the people for a little while.......Read the body language ,you idiots !
Most of us can remember the dreadful mess your party made of our economy circa whitlam & keating and the unions, grow out of your short pants before you try to play the big game..Give me a senior captain always

John Howard supports extra judicial KILLINGS in the Philippines. Journalists, student activists, civilians with children, farmers, trade union leaders, and congress representatives. With the 10 million dollars of AUSTRALIAN TAX PAYERS MONEY going to the Philippines military. Fact, 800 dead Philippines citizens in the last month responsibilities confirmed by several international bodies. John Howard needs to be replaced, together with Bush and Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (Phil'fake President')
What an interesting collection of motherhood statements. Makes a point of not committing to anything firm, because he has not got his instructions from Caucus yet.
Ask yourself, with record low unemployment, almost nil industrial unrest, Interest rates at half those of Howard's predecessor, no Black Hole deficits, and generally a country that has never been run so smoothly, is his fault? Yes!
And if the voters of this country have an ounce of savvy they will keep it that way!
You just keep going the way you have, John Howard and our kids will have a fair future to look forward to, not a union dominated lily livered Rudd rabble!
Samwise thanks for that, you affirm that the Labor party hates older people and think they are wortless. Seniors vote in record numbers remember... :)
No Youtoplet... what we need is change... Our little Johnny has had quite enough time in power; He is nearly 70...
i'm not sure about you but I have a hard time relating to people who were born when Gone with the Wind and Wizard of Oz were still hip happening movies!
Go Rudd! At last we have some true talent in parliament! Our current Prime Minister has been nothing but a joke, and his entire ministry have been nothing but clowns. They will go down in history as the worst govt this country has ever had. It's about time this country has had a change, and Kevin Rudd is the man to lead that change!! :) Friendly, likable, down to earth, good policies, in TOUCH with the populace (unlike Howard) and much more SMARTER also!
No... I think John Howard will be out in Electon 07.... Finally the opposition has a decent leader and as for the "union movement" what about "corporate greed"? John Howard has screwed the democratic debate in this country for to long.. Enough is enough..
Look at things like state curricula and the inability to pay teachers according to their ability to teach. Our schooling is a farce, and typical of all public enterprises. Only market forces can provide the rationalism necessary to improve the situation. Most parents already pay the full cost of education (yes, over $500) except they do it indirectly via taxes. So you give them back their tax, and tell them to spend it directly on their school of choice.
Paying teachers "according to the ability to teach" is never going to work.
Over 65% of kids go to public schools showing that parents don't want to spend thousands of dollars on something as basic as education. Even if you give them a couple of hundred dollars of tax rebate an overwhelming majority of them will still send their kids to a public school.
Welfare, as a voucher system entails, IS a form of government intervention. And I would assert that the cost reductions would be more than "a little bit." As for private schools charging 30K, they are schools at the extreme high end of the market; a premium product. But if we privatise the bread-and-butter schools, then lower prices and accompanying tax cuts leave people with better education and more money -- the surest way to increase living standards -- a real education revolution.
going to a public school will only costs a few hundred dollars a year (e.g. school uniform, excursions). No private school can afford to have childrem paying the school less than $500.
All education should be privatised. Then, when schools have to compete to attract students, quality will increase and cost will decrease. Populists will complain that parents cant afford it, but theres no such thing as 'free' education anyway, the taxpayer has to pay it. And it doesnt mean poor kids go without education if they cant afford it, you can still have welfare within this framework. Milton Friedman's voucher system is the ideal transitional measure to a fully privatised system.
Education may not be exactly "free", but at least it's not as expensive as $30 000 you have to pay in a quality private school. Yes, increased competition will lower costs but only a little bit. Health and education are two industries where the government must have intervention policies otherwise our living standard will go down.
Why don't you winge a bit more about Rudd... If you love Howard that much, vote for him...
and Krun123 im sure the education is fine... well fine for those wealthy enough to have daddy pay for everything... wake up!
Howard has had long enough to change the country... all his given us is international conflicts and a bad reputation... i guess global warming is exaggerated and we should all be happy to have nuclear reactors in our basements!
That is the direction Rudd is going. 'i dont have any policy but if i talk about how i lost my home when i was young and mention the word 'kid' as much as i can i will win. Shut up Rudd.
Zstar you are stupid well their has been a resource boom Howard has created many policies. Rudd is the one who has not created policies i think the education system is going ok. Your prob one those people that work for a student union yeah? VSU FTW
krun123 you cant control interest rates and you can manipulate the economy buy tweaking things here and there but you cant control it .and howard is trying to take all the credit when it was paul keating who set it up and howard admited that him self.
without keatings earlyer work we would not be where we are today.
Hes untrustworthy ( look at the the interview between him and Laurie Oaks , he is very menipulative). If you want Another Labour government stuffing up this country again JUST LIKE PAUL Keating, vote for this douche bag, he will stuff up this country, and if you think that interest rates are high now , even though there only around 6 %, (when labour was in power 10 years ago, it was double that
And theres evidence that RUDD IS ANTI MULTICULTURE
OK - it's "manipulative" not menipulative, it's "Labor" not "Labour" - and you have Paul Keating to THANK for the economic conditions Howard as taken as his doing these days (check out the "progress" made under Howard's time as Treasurer!). Please take a deep breath and THINK.
Rudd's untrustworthy? Howard lied to the people about reasons for war. And once the country was in war, he paid kickbacks to the enemy. He funded gunfire against his own troops.
Howard promised record low interest rates and there have been 7 hikes under him.
He lied about children overboard which allowed him to steal the 01 election. So who's untrustworthy?
This country is already stuffed. Consevative, right-wing dominated, no compassion. Howard has turned Aus into the US.
As a University student i completely agree with what he's saying.
The education in this country has been going down the toilet in the past few years and Howard's career is based on a resources boom but no concrete policy or reform.
With Howard now intervening in US politics, I have no problem as an American saying "Go Rudd!" John Howard's foreign policies have been absolutely disastrous, both for America and for Australia. Rudd seems like a better, more mature, more responsible partner.
Kevin Rudd is personable in his approach in this presentation. Heard him speak in Mandarin on two occasions on T.V. Sounds quite like a Chinese native. No doubt he'll hit local Chinese pay t.v. airwaves soon. No, not for the moment will he succeed Howard. Maybe a few more years down the track.
Gawd, I hope you're wrong about that - maybe in a few years, but not yet. I understand what you're saying, but I personally do not understand that mentality. The question is - what more must Australians endure to grasp that Howard's time is well and truly up?! Nah, we'll let 'im stuff things up a little more - then we'll votr Kevin into bail us out of trouble?!
Imagine this was costello or turnball vs K-rudd (K-feds bizarro, literally) they'd be owned, game, set, match. too many people see Howard as a good pm though and it's harder to get someone out then put someone else in.
Why would anyone want to vote for Howard now that there is such a clearly better alternative for Australia in Kevin Rudd?! Howard is a clever politician, but he has well and truly met his match in Kevin Rudd! Kev for PM! Go Kev!
if only the "education revolution" turned out to be more than grossly overpriced canteens and multi-purpose halls. i actually voted for Labor, but must admit Kev n' Friends have decidedly underwhelmed us when it comes to actually following through on their campaign buzzwords.

The problem with the Punch and Judy show today is the youth are far more astute, and able to see through the transparency of the charade.
What is wanted is substance, not just "Avachat" Kev and his band of union bully boys trying to jerk chains!

First, there were the Hawke Summits.
Then we got Keating's Accord,
Now we have Rudd's Multilateral Conference!
SeymoreGraft 4 years ago
Labor campaign is another Punch and Judy show!

Points are awarded for the highest ranking delegate, and the number of times you get belted before you submit!
Sounds like fun! To participate, you just have to vote Labor at the election,
then it will become compulsory!
SeymoreGraft 4 years ago
Duck-a-delegate
The new national sport being promoted by the Labor Party is called "Duck-a-delegate"
The rules are simple. You stand in front of your union boss.
He or she takes a swing at you, and you duck!
If the delegate misses, you get to stand there again, and have another go.
This continues until either you are so humiliated you leave,
or you get belted, and submit to what ever their demand is.

The former BCE and BLF official was elected to Parliament in 1992
It seems Mr Purcell is well qualified to be a Member of the Labor Party and, with this type of union bullyboy tactic he should be welcomed to the fold by Mr Rudd!
SeymoreGraft 4 years ago

So you give them back their tax, and tell them to spend it directly on their school of choice.
zanenstephens 4 years ago
Paying teachers "according to the ability to teach" is never going to work.
Over 65% of kids go to public schools showing that parents don't want to spend thousands of dollars on something as basic as education. Even if you give them a couple of hundred dollars of tax rebate an overwhelming majority of them will still send their kids to a public school.
aprasad1000 4 years ago
Welfare, as a voucher system entails, IS a form of government intervention. And I would assert that the cost reductions would be more than "a little bit." As for private schools charging 30K, they are schools at the extreme high end of the market; a premium product. But if we privatise the bread-and-butter schools, then lower prices and accompanying tax cuts leave people with better education and more money -- the surest way to increase living standards -- a real education revolution.
zanenstephens 4 years ago
going to a public school will only costs a few hundred dollars a year (e.g. school uniform, excursions). No private school can afford to have childrem paying the school less than $500.
aprasad1000 4 years ago
All education should be privatised. Then, when schools have to compete to attract students, quality will increase and cost will decrease. Populists will complain that parents cant afford it, but theres no such thing as 'free' education anyway, the taxpayer has to pay it. And it doesnt mean poor kids go without education if they cant afford it, you can still have welfare within this framework. Milton Friedman's voucher system is the ideal transitional measure to a fully privatised system.
zanenstephens 4 years ago
Education may not be exactly "free", but at least it's not as expensive as $30 000 you have to pay in a quality private school. Yes, increased competition will lower costs but only a little bit. Health and education are two industries where the government must have intervention policies otherwise our living standard will go down.
aprasad1000 4 years ago
Also the education revolution was something that Mark Lathem though up. So its nothing new.
Youtoplet 4 years ago

Rudd's untrustworthy? Howard lied to the people about reasons for war. And once the country was in war, he paid kickbacks to the enemy. He funded gunfire against his own troops.
Howard promised record low interest rates and there have been 7 hikes under him.
He lied about children overboard which allowed him to steal the 01 election. So who's untrustworthy?
