However, what hippies were solely responsible for was the creation of drug culture in America. Before Woodstock and the Summer of Love there was no drug culture in America. This early experimentation lead directly to much harder drugs like cocaine and heroin in the seventies and eightes, which were responsible for countless deaths. Something boomers never own up to.

Only 1 time in the past 50 years has the Federal Govt balanced a budget and that was in 1969. All the rest used SS Tax Revenue to help pay for it. This year SS is bankrupt!!!

I just re-watched this movie...SOBER this time! It's hard to swallow either way. I'm almost 33 years-old. I should be having the time of my life. I have a Bachelors of Arts from an accredited university and still make equal to or LESS than I made fresh out of college. I should be planning for my golden years. Instead, I'm resigned to the likelihood that I will work until the day I die. As a Christian, I can accept this. But as a man, it infuriates me that I work so that others can sit around.

However, what hippies were solely responsible for was the creation of drug culture in America. Before Woodstock and the Summer of Love there was no drug culture in America. The left's policies since the Wilson era brought us to this point. The right has done what it could to limit the damage from excessive taxation, excessive government spending, and excessive regulation... but they could only correct so much of the damage the left has caused.

The reason he kept the tax rate high was to try and pay of the debt, which was accumulating due to an increase in social programs and military spending due to past wars and the Cold War. He did not raise taxes so he could spend more money. That is the difference between Ike and someone like Obama.

That's the problem. The manufacturing base is gone!! Service jobs are not going to cut it. What we need is the Fair Tax to bring in companies from overseas and set up shop. The Stimulus is not going to create long term jobs. This President just doesn't get it. How is 99 weeks of unemployment benefits creating jobs. seems to me alot of people will stay home till the money runs out. These politicians are clueless!!!!

This started with the Democrats (LBJ and Dem Congress in the 60's) Remember LBJ's "Great Society" ! This started the Entitlement bandwagon. They passed the Social Security Act of 1965 to help fund it. That allowed the Federal Govt to place SS Tax Revenue into the General Accounting Fund and spend it on these welfare programs!! Imagine doing that to your 401K!! This year the Fed Govt has to borrow money to pay SS payouts! So far $50,000,000,000.00 for the first six weeks of this year

Wrong, since the 50's entitlement spending as part of the federal budget has increased from less than 25% of the Budget to 70% of the Budget. This mostly started in the 1960's with LBJ's great Society in which the Democratic Congress and President used Social Security Tax Revenue to help pay for Federal Spending. Only 1 time in the past 50 years has the Federal Govt balanced a budget and that was in 1969. All the rest used SS Tax Revenue to help pay for it. This year SS is bankrupt!!!
