  • Dear Aaron,

you're amazing ! I played classical piano for 4 years and then I started playing jazzpiano, but still my heart stops everytime I hear a few amazing piano songs - played so well, like you did !

Keep on that good work, so that I could enjoy this great work again !

Good luck in everything you do,

    Janette

    Willie Wandrag

  • Dear Willie,

Thanks for the compliment! I respond because if people take the time to comment on my video (be it a compliment or suggestion), I feel I should take the time to give them a response. I appreciate your encouragement and thanks for watching!

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • It is a rare pleasure to see someone not only playing with perfect technique but also feeling and emotion.

  • Dear wwandrag,

Thank you for the absolutely incredible compliments! Your comment on my interpretation is very meaningful to me as interpretation is more difficult for me to nail than technique. Thanks also for watching my video!

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • Dear lmarcus461,

    Aaron

  • You are incredible! Hope I get to meet you want day and watch you play! :)

  • Thank you so much, IanLeoTV!

    Aaron

  • Oh god, I'm so jealous. This kid has achieved everything (on the piano) that I DREAM of someday achieving; at the age of 12.

But still, I have to admire your playing - can't wait to see you perform when you're like 30 years old. Thank you, and good luck! =)

  • Thanks for all of your compliments, belegSJ, and thanks for your encouragement!

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • Hey, does anyone knows how long it takes to learn this?

  • Hello Aaron :)

I'm Mathilde and I'm 13. I am French but I learn English at school so it's normal if I make big errors ^^ My piano's teacher gives me this Chopin etudes and thte Rachmaninoff that you are playing in an other video ... It's WONDERFUL !! I love your songs ... Congratulations, it's very very beautiful ! :D

Like Kitty, I would like to be a pianist so ... I look your videos for more inspiration :)

I hope you will have success in your future !

    Bye, Mathilde

  • Dear Themusicienne,

I'm glad you enjoy watching my videos! Your encouraging words really mean a lot to me. I hope you continue to enjoy playing piano!

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • What an exciting performance. Really well filmed too!

  • Thanks, pondwatcher!

    Aaron

  • Oh, Chopin etudes...

Me and my teacher were deciding which one I should play. I already played Op. 25 No. 2, so we were deciding between this etude (Black Key), Op. 10 No. 4, and Op. 10 No. 9. I liked No. 9 :).

One thing I noticed about Chopin etudes is that the easier ones are still very intimidating, but don't turn out to be that bad. Now the harder ones are very intimidating, but are still REALLY HARD!

  • just love the way you play...

  • Thank you so much, tscholent!

    Aaron

  • Aaron,

My name's Kitty, I'm 16 and I think you are just incredible!! Definitely brought me more reason for me to be a concert pianist. I saw your other video from an international contest, and I rememeber playing the Beethoven Bagatelle it made me smile to hear it again, but I have to tip my hat to you for playing this amazing piece and that Rachmanninoff Prelude! I did a mini recital today and played Khachaturian's Toccata :)

I wish you all the luck for more success in your future,

    Kitty

  • Dear Kitty,

Thank you so much for your encouraging words! I'm glad you enjoyed my Chopin and Rachmaninoff, as I spent countless hours working on them (especially the Rachmaninoff). Thanks again and I hope you continue to enjoy playing piano!

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • wunderful!

  • Simply amazing ..

  • Thank you so much, MsIcelandgirl!

    Aaron

  • Dear Annrawwhhh,

I practice piano about 21 hours a week in the summer and about 15 hours a week during the school year. Thanks for watching!

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • @tbkurz no wonder your so good!!!! Piano should be your profession!!!!

  • Thank you so much, Daniel, and thanks for visiting my channel!

    Sincerely,

  • You're very talented and a very special human being, indeed. Thanks for sharing your videos, I'll subscribe so expect some comments from me. Take care.

  • Hello, Aaron. Thank you for sharing your beautiful performance.

I am french and also love playing Chopin, and especially his etudes. If i can give you an advice, you should listen more carefully to all the melodies on the left hand. When Chopin writes a note, it is always included in a melodic line (i don't know how to say it in english?).

We often don't take care to the left hand when we play such a difficult right hand (i had the same problem when i played the fantaisie-impromptu).

  • Dear ChopinsReturn,

I'm glad you enjoyed my performance of the Black Key Etude! I also found that my left hand was the weakest aspect of this performance due to the difficulty of the right hand. Thank you for taking the time to critique me!

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • That was beautiful :)

Oh and what a sweet boy. It's nice of you to take time and reply.

It's wonderful song. Nice playing! Lovely.

  • Did it take you forever to master all of these pieces?

  • Dear JesseRela,

On average, I probably spend roughly nine months on a piece before moving on from it. Thanks for watching!

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • :) I'm so jealous of u >=( grrrr im only a year younger and i can't ddo anything close to this unless I practise it for a few months, and even then it wouldn't be anywhere near perfect! I'm doing third grade in piano at the min (AMEB)

  • Thank you for watching my video, stuntsquiral1! I hope you enjoy playing piano as much as I do. What pieces are you working on?

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • OMG! that is so perfect!! i salute you Aaron.. you're GOOD GOOD GOOD!

  • Thank you so much, jolenefsw! Thanks for watching!

    Aaron

  • So nice camera views.

    And a nice Chopin.

  • Thanks, Chrisy299!

    Aaron

  • I like your performance very much. Very Handsome too. Thanks for sharing this .

  • I'm glad you enjoyed it, colorpiano!

    Aaron

  • I feel sucks behind you!!!! :D

  • Thanks, 1almaz3!

    Aaron

  • G'day Aaron. Another dazzlling performance. I listened to the piece without watching you playing and I am sure that it sounded just as good as any recording of an adult concert pianist. Your technique is truly amazing and your control of dynamics and rubato perfect. Keep up the terrific work. Best wishes to your family to. Paul.

  • Dear Paul,

I'm glad you enjoyed my performance of the Chopin Etude! Thank you so much for the very supportive comments! I really appreciate it. Thanks also for watching my video!

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • wow - what a gifted young boy :)

BTW - loved u're brahms' raphsody (Gm) - such beautiful inner voices :)

    gr8

  • Thank you so much for your compliments, eyalli! I worked very hard on the Rhapsody so I really appreciate your kind words. Thanks for watching!

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • AWEOME! HOW do you keep your fingers from slipping off the black keys? lol I gave up on this piece because of that. lololz Those keys are too skinny. lol

    Excellent video. Congrats!

  • @lllllllllllllll88 - Sorry, I meant aweSome! lol typo because this video is so "aweSome" that I couldn't even type. lol

  • well done!

  • i am 12 and can play like that i mean in terms of speed but i am not until that standard..

  • aaron,

i think you have excellent technique and interpretive maturity for your age, which defines you as a prodigy. Personally out of opus 10, my favourite is number 4, which unlike this etude is one of a serious passion. I'm now playing it, and I would definitely like to see how you'd cope.

  • @chazzithebrit Black key at age 12 is pretty achievable. At that age, I played the arpeggio, black key, revolutionary, and ocean etudes.

Prodigious is knowing all the Chopin and Liszt etudes like a student I've seen in Portland.

  • Wow...

    6 flats... =O

    That's very hard

    I love Fréderic Chopin =)

You should play the Lizst's Transcendental Etude's xD

    Congrats Aaron ;)

  • many flats doesn't mean it's harder.

  • But this in particular is, because it's very fast and unusual to play, to lots of pianists.

    best wishes =)

  • Oh, and I checked out your website. Really cool! You've done a lot of stuff!

    ~Goobieproductions

  • Aaron,

Wow again!!! I could watch all you video's all day! I love it! This is a great video. I can tell it was taken professionally. Great work!

    ~Goobieproductions

  • fantastic!!

  • Thanks 40greenmusic!

    Aaron

  • ohgosh. you're so good. how do you move your fingers like that and hit the keys perfectly

  • Dear Aaron you are N1

  • Thank you, venkasemka!

    Aaron

  • Thanks venkasemka!

    Aaron

  • Aaron.

I am sorry..I forgot to ask: Have you ever had the pleasure of playing Schumann's uniquely eclectic, but beautiful and artistic 'Carnival, Opus 9'?

I would love to see a video of you playing that fun piece!

  • Aaron,

Wonderful interpretation of Chopin's Etude !! I am sure you received quite a few bravos after that performance.

Many people say that Franz Liszt's etudes, such as the trio: "Trois etudes de concert" are compositionally harder than Chopin...but it is my opinion that Liszt's etudes actually "fit the hand" better...and thus are easier to play than Chopin. Chopin's Etude in G is noted for it's near impossible hand placements in places.

At any rate...thanks for the superb rendition!

  • Dear pragmaticus123,

Thanks so much for your compliments regarding my technique on the etude. Actually, I am working on a Liszt concert etude now, and I would agree that it "fits the hand" better; however, it is much more musically difficult than the Chopin. I have not played the Carnival Op. 9, or any Schumann recently, but it is definitely an interesting piece.

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • Dear Aaron, This is Irene. I am 12 y.o, I love piano and other insment I know how to play everything that I have. I have a piano teacher she's a very good teacher of mine, but she died at december 28 2009 that time im on my vacation & i have been know that she died at january. I just could not believe she died but, her sound of playing never died in me. I hope you know what I mean =). Your playing was very great. It's my very favourite song of Chopin even if he died, his song still alive in you

  • well not saying that its not good but i have the hint of awkwardness in it and not quite matching up to the sounds and keys so i might say that its fake. not in a mean way at all.

    sorry aaron,sincerely yours: ~islandheart1~

  • islandheart1:

So...you don't imply in any "mean way at all" that Aaron's rendition of Chopin's very difficult 'Etude in G' is a fake??

Has it ever occured to you that the video not matching the sounds is because the vid to music dubbing is out of sequence. This particular video HAS had video of the piano hammers, and close-up of the keys dubbed in...that is obvious...but it is NOT a fake.

Please note that this recorded performance was a well known judged piano competition. No fakery.

  • Bravo!!

  • Aaron, I love your talent, you're a God's gift to music, and thanks God He gave you that great talent.

  • Dear bobbiegirl1000,

Thank you so much for your amazing compliments and for watching my performance!

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • You are amazing kid, truly amazing.

  • an interesting musician and pianist from the very beginning on.... lots of work still in front of but already a lot behind....

with the necessary effort the next years there is the hope to win a competition of international value.... the musicality is there , its a question to chose the right works to learn now to achieve that goal....

  • Hello Aaron! This is Aaron from SMU (the one that was playing a Prokofiev Sonata and Mephisto Waltz). This Chopin was great, especially for your age. See you next year!

  • Dear Aaron,

I'm glad you enjoyed the Chopin! I hope to see you soon!

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • Wow, that was great. I don't play piano myself, but i enjoy listening to classical pieces such as this one! Keep up the good work!

  • Dear DaveMoustache,

I'm glad you enjoyed the video and that you like classical! Thanks for the encouraging words!

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • ok ive been watching all these "prodigies" and i say nothing of the sort

until this you are simply amazing god has given a gift i pray you continue to use it

ps i also play the piano (although nothing as magnificent as this) and i find some comfort that you do not sightread music well because i cannot read music

  • Dear soccerocarinamlg.

Thank you so much for all of your great compliments! Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment no my video!

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • Black key isn't that hard. I played when i was 9 and more sticcatto

  • OMG, now i feel horrible on piano XD i must stop watching these amazing people .. x'D

  • Wow, I'm impressed that you take the time to respond to everyone on Youtube - I'd rather you be practicing or playing ball with that time! You are going to be terrific as your career takes off - (and your hands get bigger - no end of possibilities in sight!)

    good luck and success!

  • Dear 3screamingkids,

Thanks so much for all of your encouraging words! I hope you continue to watch my videos!

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • professionally well done, again.

  • Thank you so much 7FishyFoe9!

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • How long does it take you to learn a piece like this?

Are you one of those crazy sight-readers who can play anything they see?

Just curious - wonderful job by the way! :D

  • Dear colinlikeschapstick,

To learn the notes, it probably took me about a month, but the dynamics took a whole lot longer to learn. I am not one of those people that you are talking about (although I certainly know what you mean), but it would be really nice if I was. Thanks for watching my video!

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • I literally had my mouth open the whole time! WOW! That was...wow! *speechless*

  • Dear Annija089,

I'm so glad that you liked my performance of the etude! I really appreciate it as I worked for a very long time on perfecting it.

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • Some of the camera angles were really obnoxious to be completely honest. :/

    Other than that, the playing was quite good;

  • Dear pepper,

I would agree with you that some of the camera angles were very unusual. I did this video for some college students that were filming this for their graduate masters program in film. They gave us this film as a thank you for the time I spent with them. I appreciate the work they did but know that is is different than a standard filmed piece.

    Aaron

  • Anyway, I really like your playing! It's a very clean interpretation and sounds very professional! You are really talented:D

  • Thanks pebbli84, I appreciate your support and am glad that you like the piece!

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • LRSM is the Licentiate Diploma from ABRSM.

What level are you at now??

  • Dear pebbli94,

My current teacher doesn't test using the Royal Schools of Music testing. I think that the last time I tested for it was when I was seven years old. So, I have no current certification.

    Aaron

  • pretty 'clean'...im already trying to play rondo alla turca

  • Thanks hermesatolympus! I hope you enjoy that piece as much as I do!

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • A flawless performance! Thank you.

  • Dear gerardbedecarter,

Thank you so much for all of your encouraging and for watching my videos!

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • What diplomas have you attained so far? I'm guessing LRSM?

  • Dear pebbli94,

I have not earned any diplomas, but what is LRSM? I have never heard of it.

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • I don't think I could ever be so good though:P

  • Dear KeaneKiller,

Thanks for all of your compliments! I really appreciate it!

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • no way! this is so amazing!! Makes me want to learn to play piano!!!:D

  • Dear KeaneKiller18,

I'm so glad that you liked my performance! Thanks for watching my video!

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • how much hours in day do you practise??

i like your technique!! well done

  • Dear LabinotBahtiri,

I"m glad you enjoyed my video! I don't have a specific amount of time that I practice every day, but I usually do around 15 hours a week.

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • Awesome!

I wanted to play this piece, but my teacher said that i have to play an other piece for the piano competition... Ok, after that i´ll learn it ! : )

  • Whats with the odd camera angles? I'm trying to watch a performance...

  • Dear c2043588,

I agree that there are some strange camera angles during my performance. This video was done by graduate film students as part of one of their projects at school. I'm not sure if they had any experience filming pianists.

    Aaron

  • You are right. Intrusive camera directors spoil many things. Close ups and meandering ruin things, for me anyway.

I am surprised they have to learn how to do it.

I love Chopin's music but most is too difficult for me.

  • heyy. you are awesome.

im 17 and just started playing the piano two months ago.

    thanks for the inspiration !!

  • Comment removed

  • Aaron, dont let any one to tell you, that you are the second Rubistein or Horowitz, the second is no good. You are you and no body els. Good luck.

    Daniel Morales

My mom started me in piano at the age of three.

    Aaron

I started learning this piece at the beginning of 7th grade (when I was 12). Thanks for watching my videos!

  • What's your favorite recording of this piece?

  • My favorite recording of this piece? That's hard to say, MrPfund, but maybe Horowitz's because it's very clean and different.

    Aaron

  • Your sound is getting mightier... i like it that you feel the music, or at least make me feel it :)

  • Dear acerflots,

Thank you for your compliments regarding my performance! I'm glad that you like my sound!

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • My favorite etude by Chopin and you play is so beautiful.

    Sincerely,

    Aaron

  • That is very good! You're gonna be great!

  • He already is!

  • No he's not. He's 12, he can't be great. He will, so he's one of the most talented childs I've ever heard of

  • I suppose you mean he's great, but one day he'll be greater?

  • Thank you!

    Aaron

  • Great musician!
