Wow, I just watched this game on MLB Network. Well, actually, I got in my lil' pad just in time to catch (again, who caught that damn ball?!) the last three innings. So I definitely saw Boone rocket that piece again. Man...I still kinda hate myself for not watching that enitre game on Thursday night, October 16th, 2003. I turned it off after BIG POP-UP cracked that ball off of Boomer. But I damn sure saw those highlights on Friday the 17h of '03! I woke up at 4:30 in the morn and saw it on...
...fuckin' Headline News! I was buggin' out, man!!! I seriously could not believe that shit, yo. And I didn't even know who Aaron was like that (I had heard of Bob & Bret by that time). But I sure as fuck knew him by 10:00 o'clock that October Friday night (17th) back in '03. :-)
And it was obviously a day of mourning in DEAD-sox nation that day. And, not surprisingly by that time, shitty ESPN. They had to show HO-mar kicking a soccer ball in front of the green monster with Mia Hamm. LOL...
Pure Yankee greatness, son! Aaron's A.L. pennant-winning home run is easily a top 5 Yankees moment. Has to be. Damn...I miss the old stadium, too! But our great lives in the Yankee Universe goes on...
I wanted to ask a question about this wild-ass moment in The Stadium back in October of '03...when that ball landed in the left-field seats, who actually got it? It'd be funny as fuck if it's revealed some DEAD-sox fucker got it. 'Cause I know there were a crapload of 'em there that night. Lol!
Wow Unbelievable.I can't believe the Red Sox came back from three games to nothing.Ohh shit wrong year. The Yankees choked.Oh not the mighty Yankees. At least choke a little if you going to choke but not on the most epic moment when your pounding a team into submission and you become jelly gay and let a team like the Red Sox feast on you.Boy the Yankees truly suck !
@brsfan66 What are you talking about. The Yankees are the greatest team in sports history. No team in any sport has won as many titles as the Yankees. Be objective. I'm no Yankee fan, but rather a long time suffering Mets fan who roots against the Yankees every chance I get. 27 world series vs. 7 speaks all.
@kimmykola What about the Boston Celtics,Los Angeles Lakers,Montreal Canadiens all may have an argument on your comment about being the greatest ever.I don't think there was ever a bigger comeback in one series than you would see in 2004.
@brsfan66 No doubt the 2004 comeback was rare, a first in baseball, but it has been done in other sports before: 1942 Maple Leafs, 1975 Islanders, 2010 Flyers. Yankess 27 championships, Canadians 24 Championships, Celtics 17 championships, Lakers 16 championships. No baseball team can be remotely compared to the Yankess. The next closest is the Cardinals with 10 championships. The Red Sox only have 7, not even close. My Mets only 2. 2004 Red Sox great season, 27 championships great history.
@kimmykola I have to say you know your facts very well. The Sox did have there dynasty years in the early part of the century. They went from Babe Ruth to Bill Buckner in which i'm not downing Buckner where he was borderline to make it to the hall of fame if they beat the Mets in 86.There was a time that the Yankees and I don't if it is now but they competed win or lose in almost 50% of the world series since they won there first one in1921 I think correct me if i'm wrong.I do hate the Yankees.
@brsfan66 Exactly, they were in 39 of 79 fom 1921 to 2009. Won 27 lost 12. The Yankees have lost more World Series than the next most winning team has wins, the Cardinals, with 10 World Series wins. The Yankees have as many World Series wins as the next 4 teams combined. I agree Buckner was a great ball player, but will always be remembered for that one play. I like you hate the Yankees,I'm a Met fan and assume you are a Sox fan. We have a common enemy. Yet my favorite player is Ruth, go figure!
This was the first yankee game I ever watched! I was 8 years old and my mom and dad were watching it and told me that the yankees are playing for the AL pennant! They introduced me to all the players and ever since than, I have been a die hard yanks fan and have always hated the sox and marlins. BUCK FOSTON GO YANKEES!!!!
@MisterHockeyman Yeah man thats an awesome memory and I feel the same way! This year was my first year for everything baseball for me. The introduction of the great rivalry between the Sox and Yanks and my favorite player's first season and now 2009 WS MVP "GODZILLA" Hideki Matsui! This is my favorite Yankee game and I still have the 2003 ALCS CHAMPIONSHIP hat in my drawer LOL! Luv You forever Aarone Boone!
@YanksBostonMets Yea I also wish I was there! And 2009 was the best year of my life!! My first time seeing the yanks win one! I miss Matsui a lot though :( Lets hope the yanks beat the sox in the AL east race and they capture #28 soon!
@MisterHockeyman Yeah same man! Remember in 2009 how they lost like 6 or 7 in a row then the yankees won the last 8 games LOL! Looks like thats going to happen again! Go Yanks!
You have got to be the most ignorant tool I have ever seen. Did you really just say that 90% of Yankees fans DONT have anything to do with New York? Yeah, you have just lost any future argument you may have.
WOW!!! i have to say that is an AWESOME video of that moment! It puts you right in the crowd at one of the most historic baseball moments EVER in the history of baseball!! That is one of those times that you remember where you were exactly when that happened, and to be able to have this video is really cool! Great job!!
Ahha you are a retard, how many mets took hgh and roids in those days, every fuckin team had tons of players who did it, plus in '03 bernie jeter matsui posada mariano preety much the best players were roid free, so shut your fucking dumbass piece of shit Met fan scum up!
You know what I love about this home run? Right after the ball landed in the stands, New York, New York came on the PA system just like after any other routine Yankees win. Simply awesome.
Winning 1 world series is great 2 amazing, but 27, i guess when u get that success people are always going come up with hateful things, like the ones spoken here. when you spend money on player you are not buying a championship, you are buying a talent, some team choose to sell their talents, not the Yankees that's why they are the iconic baseball franchise. oh and go Yanks
@bronxbomber38 Nope its not over, having a 200 million dollar payroll is a HUGE advantage. Players in the FA market are going to want to sign with u cuz u got the dough!!!! The yankees have 80 mill more than the 2nd highest payroll team. The redsox. So u and bomber55 can shove it it up your ass. You know u have the advantage of picking up any free agent u want, without competing with anyone else. Go sox.
@XxDaNiiiMaLxX you boston fans crack me up. Funny how with our money that "every" free agent wants your "3rd world country" red sox manage to take guys like Manny, Pedro, schilling, matsuzaka (even though he sucks ass), Crawford, etc. Yeah you guys sure can't compete in the free agent market. Please. Quit acting like u have the payroll of the fuckin pirates or royals. Oh and the Phillies managed to steal away cliff lee from us. Yeah nobody can compete at all.....
@XxDaNiiiMaLxX not to mention for this season u guys outspent every team in free agency. Get off your high horse hypocrite. John henry is wealthier than the steinbrenners....
@XxDaNiiiMaLxX yeah spending 50 million just for the right to negotiate and another 50 million to sign an unproven pitcher who's mediocre at best is being smart with money. Same with making Crawford the highest paid outfielder in history. So "smart". Again, u fucking boston fans act like u have no chance of competing in the free agent market when u have an owner who is wealthier than the steinbrenners. Stop acting like u have the pirates or royals ownership...
@MattyVfromCT Okay Dice-k was supposed to be a nasty pitcher, why wouldnt we want to negotiate or sign him stupid? And are u sayin Crawford isn't good????? HA, so fuckin what if hes in a slump dumb mother fucker. Okay hows this for being smart with money, Posada is being paid 13+k per year 1 mill less than Crawford. and it dont fuckin matter the yankees have 40 mill more than the red sox in their slary cap so stop runnin ur mouth ur wrong dumbass
@XxDaNiiiMaLxX once again u fail to see the big picture. My point is its not like the red sox can't compete in the free agent market. Boston is in the top 3 in MLB payroll every single year. U made Crawford the highest paid paid outfielder in history. Yes he's good but not worth being the highest paid outfielder ever. As far as dice k, the yankees were bidding on home too. Oh wait I thought nobody can compete with our money. Not only are u boston fans hypocrites but complete fucking morons...
@tommynicks actually Boston fans remember 2003 quite well, we remember Josh Beckett and the Marlins celebrating in Yankee Stadium
it's the Yankees fans who act as if Boone's HR won the World Series for them, the Yankees players seemed to feel the same way based on how they lied down against the Marlins
And people like you are judging the Yankees like a book when you say that. Don't judge the Yankees book by its cover without reading the entire story.
All i can say is, I am a New York Yankee fan, I really excited fot the Yamkees at that moment. Bur why did it have come against Dick Wakefield, although a Boston Player he is areally a team player, gives his all for team. Wishing there could be more pro's like that player was.
Too bad the Marlins suck. 1997 they should have lost to the Indians and 2003 you got lucky that Alex Gonzalez (Cubs shortstop) booted that routine ground ball. Don't me to sound like a sore loser, but the truth is that you guys got lucky.
ruined baseball? lmfao....again...ranger fan here but not so god damn jealous that blame the yankees for the state of my team....what a joke...keep on keepin on yankee fans. ur ok in my book.... hamiltons homerun derby performance should be one of the greatest moments in yankee stadium history btw... peace
im a texas ranger fan and it makes me sick that fans blame the yankees for their sorry ass teams not contending. f'n crybabies....the nationals and royals and A's owners are richer than the yankees',,,,theyre good for the game wether you like it or not...bought a championship? i think not...if it were that easy they woulda won the last 10 WS....F'n excuse makers
to these retards saying the yankees didnt buy the world series do you have downys? you named all the people that didnt have an impact on the season lollllll.........sabathia,burnett,teixaira(thats just last year) arod , swisher, damon so suck my dick you fuckin pussy yankee fans you fucks ruined fuckin baseball
@nykilla45- Ha ha ... Aww little Boston fan is crapping his pants :(. Well what would you want to expect ? We draw over 4 million fans a year. We accumulate over $450 million dollars in Yankee games. We got at least 1 thousand fans who follow them on away games. I mean for such a rich team in the nations most beautiful city, we deserve the best and that what we get. I mean we got people paying $800 Bucks to see the Yanks play. Don't be pissed of because your doing terrible and today we pwned U !
Every time the Yankees win the World Series, haters like you say they ruin the game of baseball.
And named all the people that didn't make an impact? Derek Jeter, Andy Pettitte, Jorge Posada, Mariano Rivera, Brett Gardner, Ramiro Pena, Robinson Cano, Francisco Cervelli, David Robertson, Phil Coke, Melky Cabrera, Joba Chamberlain, Phil Hughes and Alfredo Aceves also made an impact with A-Rod, CC, Tex, Swish and Johnny Damon by chipping in to the Yankees success.
Another jump to conclusions Yankee hater who doesn't have the cold hard, actual facts.
Yankees bought the 2009 World Series last year? EEEEEEE! Sorry, wrong guess.
Derek Jeter, Andy Pettitte, Jorge Posada, Mariano Rivera, Brett Gardner, Ramiro Pena, Robinson Cano, Francisco Cervelli, David Robertson, Phil Coke, Melky Cabrera, Joba Chamberlain, Phil Hughes and Alfredo Aceves are all home grown talent that were drafted and developed by the Yankees farm system.
So before you accuse the Yankees of "buying" world championships, look at all 27 World Championship rosters and tell me one by one where they came from and what method did the Yankees use? FA/Signings, drafts, etc.
@BroadwayBomber55 I say the same thing when people throw that tired argument at me about how the Yanks never develop talent and just buy everybody. They're just jealous that their teams don't have the great history that the Yanks do. The Yankees ARE baseball.
alright just stop. the series mvp was hideki matsui, FAR from home grown. teixeira is one of your top 5 players. CC Sabathia is your best starting pitcher by a mile. oh and that other guy, rodriguez. yeah he's not bad
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@BroadwayBomber55 You are a MORON!! Yes, the players you mentioned are indeed homegrown. But the Yankees can afford to sign and often OVERPAY to keep their own homegrown talent in addition to singing the most expensive free agents available. Ten years ago, no one would have offered Jeter close to the money the Yanks did to lock him up long term. So the Yanks were able to overpay their best homegrown player to never reach free agency, signing him to a deal that no other team could or would.
But you keep forgetting this: how do the Yankees drafted, developed, bring up their homegrown talent from within and keep them as Yankees like Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera? They put their own money back into their own team.
@BroadwayBomber55 Are you dense? I just told you how they keep their homegrown talent. LOL! They can afford to OVERPAY to keep their own guys long before they ever become free agents! They also have the most money to use in the foreign markets to sign players and also the most money to draft top picks and then sign those top picks. Other teams can draft a guy number 1 and risk not being able to sign him because the demands are too high.
@BroadwayBomber55 Even the Phillies-a big market team-lost out on JD Drew not too long ago because they drafted him number 1 and couldn't meet his signing demands. It happens all the time, and teams with less fiancial flexibilty often skip over top picks rather than drafting them and risk not being able to sign them. This NEVER happens to the Yanks. So stick HOMEGROWN up your ass!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@BroadwayBomber55 Let me list all of the former Oakland Athletics homegrown stars who now play for other organizations. Or Royals. Or the Expos when they lost Pedro Martinez, Vlad Guererro, Larry Walker, Marquis Grissom, Delino DeShields, Moises Alou to name a few!!!! If that were the Yankees, all of those guys would have been locked up or traded for top expensive talent like the Soriano for AROD deal. GET A CLUE!!
And who's fault is it? It's not the New York Yankees.
Had the owners of the Expos, A's, Royals took advantage of their revenue sharing money from the big market clubs and had owners who commit on putting the revenue sharing money back into their own team, none of this would've happen.
I think you're the moron who needs to get a clue, not me.
@BroadwayBomber55 HELLO? The Twins have just increased payroll by 50 percent and sign Maurer to a monster deal. The A's are almost always competitive. Yes, there are a few very poorly run franchises who don't put money into the team like the Royals and the Pirates-but they are the exception-not the rule, and that doesn't excuse what the Yankees do! I mean, give me a break! The Expos were losing all of their talent before the revenue sharing even existed!
Respond to this video... Teams can spend money, even the money they get from revenue sharing, but it doesn't mean they have endless funds like the Yanks do. For the Twins to lock up a Joe Mauer, they have to cut costs elsewhere and stay within a budget!!! Even the METS and Phillies etc have a budget and a limit that they can and will spend!!
@BroadwayBomber55 Teams can spend money, even the money they get from revenue sharing, but it doesn't mean they have endless funds like the Yanks do. For the Twins to lock up a Joe Mauer, they have to cut costs elsewhere and stay within a budget!!! Even the METS and Phillies etc have a budget and a limit that they can and will spend!!
Management's commitment to winning by putting their money back into the team.
Fan base of 3.5 million buying tickets, parking, food, souvenirs, etc and millions more at home (cable, radio, internet) to pay for the 200 million dollar payroll.
@BroadwayBomber55 You really are DUMB. And you know what is worse than the Yankees? Yankee fans! It takes no pride or character to be a Yankee fan. You are rooting for a team that is SUPPOSED to win. It is like rooting for a 14 year old boy to beat up a 10 year old girl! It is like rooting for the big bully. When you win, you are supposed to win, so what is there to get excited about? You are latching onto something that makes you feel important because you have no life of your own!
2003 was my first year getting into baseball. This is and will forever be the greatest Yankee game I have ever seen!!! YANKS world CHAMPS 2009!!! RED SOCKS SUCK!!!
what happened the 86 years before, thats right. what happened this past year, thats right, who has 27 world series, thats right, who has a better stadium, thats right, who leads the all time series, thats right. THE GREAT BAMBINO!!!!!!!!! YOU BOSTON FUCKER!!!
@RSN1616@RSN1616 the only thing in the last 92 years that you can say boston did something good...keep going to that fine...they will just win another...even when boston has the third highest payroll they cant get a championship for 86 years please...even the mets won 2 in less then 20 years
@RSN1616 oh yeh didnt manny and ortiz test positive for some female steriods or some shit...yeh i forgot manny was an mvp for that year for them and also ortiz knocking those hr's yeh if riods was never created they still be looking for a title

@MattyVfromCT most money we've spemt since dice-k in 2007. Just called being smart with money fuckin moron
XxDaNiiiMaLxX 9 months ago
@XxDaNiiiMaLxX yeah spending 50 million just for the right to negotiate and another 50 million to sign an unproven pitcher who's mediocre at best is being smart with money. Same with making Crawford the highest paid outfielder in history. So "smart". Again, u fucking boston fans act like u have no chance of competing in the free agent market when u have an owner who is wealthier than the steinbrenners. Stop acting like u have the pirates or royals ownership...
MattyVfromCT 9 months ago
@MattyVfromCT Okay Dice-k was supposed to be a nasty pitcher, why wouldnt we want to negotiate or sign him stupid? And are u sayin Crawford isn't good????? HA, so fuckin what if hes in a slump dumb mother fucker. Okay hows this for being smart with money, Posada is being paid 13+k per year 1 mill less than Crawford. and it dont fuckin matter the yankees have 40 mill more than the red sox in their slary cap so stop runnin ur mouth ur wrong dumbass
XxDaNiiiMaLxX 9 months ago
@XxDaNiiiMaLxX once again u fail to see the big picture. My point is its not like the red sox can't compete in the free agent market. Boston is in the top 3 in MLB payroll every single year. U made Crawford the highest paid paid outfielder in history. Yes he's good but not worth being the highest paid outfielder ever. As far as dice k, the yankees were bidding on home too. Oh wait I thought nobody can compete with our money. Not only are u boston fans hypocrites but complete fucking morons...

Too bad the Marlins suck. 1997 they should have lost to the Indians and 2003 you got lucky that Alex Gonzalez (Cubs shortstop) booted that routine ground ball. Don't me to sound like a sore loser, but the truth is that you guys got lucky.

BroadwayBomber55 1 year ago 43
@BACKoffFilms
So before you accuse the Yankees of "buying" world championships, look at all 27 World Championship rosters and tell me one by one where they came from and what method did the Yankees use? FA/Signings, drafts, etc.
BroadwayBomber55 1 year ago 13
@BroadwayBomber55 yeah you have the money to keep all of them with huge contracts. thats the actual fact

So the Yanks were able to overpay their best homegrown player to never reach free agency, signing him to a deal that no other team could or would.
savboy1976 11 months ago
@savboy1976
But you keep forgetting this: how do the Yankees drafted, developed, bring up their homegrown talent from within and keep them as Yankees like Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera? They put their own money back into their own team.
BroadwayBomber55 11 months ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@BroadwayBomber55 Are you dense? I just told you how they keep their homegrown talent. LOL! They can afford to OVERPAY to keep their own guys long before they ever become free agents! They also have the most money to use in the foreign markets to sign players and also the most money to draft top picks and then sign those top picks. Other teams can draft a guy number 1 and risk not being able to sign him because the demands are too high.
savboy1976 11 months ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@BroadwayBomber55 Even the Phillies-a big market team-lost out on JD Drew not too long ago because they drafted him number 1 and couldn't meet his signing demands. It happens all the time, and teams with less fiancial flexibilty often skip over top picks rather than drafting them and risk not being able to sign them. This NEVER happens to the Yanks. So stick HOMEGROWN up your ass!!
savboy1976 11 months ago

@BroadwayBomber55 Let me list all of the former Oakland Athletics homegrown stars who now play for other organizations. Or Royals. Or the Expos when they lost Pedro Martinez, Vlad Guererro, Larry Walker, Marquis Grissom, Delino DeShields, Moises Alou to name a few!!!! If that were the Yankees, all of those guys would have been locked up or traded for top expensive talent like the Soriano for AROD deal. GET A CLUE!!
savboy1976 11 months ago
@savboy1976
BroadwayBomber55 11 months ago

@BroadwayBomber55 HELLO? The Twins have just increased payroll by 50 percent and sign Maurer to a monster deal. The A's are almost always competitive. Yes, there are a few very poorly run franchises who don't put money into the team like the Royals and the Pirates-but they are the exception-not the rule, and that doesn't excuse what the Yankees do! I mean, give me a break! The Expos were losing all of their talent before the revenue sharing even existed!
savboy1976 11 months ago

Respond to this video... Teams can spend money, even the money they get from revenue sharing, but it doesn't mean they have endless funds like the Yanks do. For the Twins to lock up a Joe Mauer, they have to cut costs elsewhere and stay within a budget!!! Even the METS and Phillies etc have a budget and a limit that they can and will spend!!

Um, how do the Yankees have a higher payroll:
Great drafting and player evaluation.
Management's commitment to winning by putting their money back into the team.
Fan base of 3.5 million buying tickets, parking, food, souvenirs, etc and millions more at home (cable, radio, internet) to pay for the 200 million dollar payroll.
Case closed. I win, you lose.
