But that just makes it too busy. Again with the lack of melodic timing. The dancer just comes off as slightly forced; trying to fit in as many moves as possible. It just doesn't work. If you isolate the dancer's steps then you can tell that she is a good dancer. But when you put them all together with that timing and that music it just doesn't come across for me.
@huamingmiao , umm? pirouette, jette, arabesque, impulses, splits, backflips, braunies, contractions, tell me what didn't you see that you thought was missing?
@ennael7 I think @huamingmiao means that she exercises not dance, with that I agree...and for ballet dancer she is not very flexible. She is good and has potential...
Of course it was very good, but claiming it is the best ever cabaret jazz solo is going a bit far. It is simply not THE BEST if I'm being totally honest. Please don't take that as hate or even an insult, this is amazing.
And, I guess the title did get me to click when I otherwise might not have, so it's done it's job.
I have lost track of the reason for posting this comment... Well, I've written it now.
@douglasgn66 would love to see it. Please post it on your page . You have 68 clips but not 1 of them are of you dancing? I would be pleased to watch your clip of you dancing to " when your good to mama".
Great dance, but I think it could have used a stronger jazz influence, the ballet training is very apparent, and that song is such a strong jazz number...it needed that jazz attitude! regardless, a beautiful and very technically talented dancer=)
I made it. Stretch brushed satin lycra. , flesh insert, glittered with JonesTones glue and Ice White hoolographic glitter, Then finished with Maria George Schwarzkofy Crystals and Lazer cut Silver Glitter. The skirt is just the lycra cut into 6mm strips and glittered.
certainly a VERY good routine and dancer, she has a great smile and her routine was flawless. my only complaint is the title and the information given, and i might sound silly when i say this but i do not think that the routine was appropriate for that song. you see in the broadway/west end show and the film it is much more simpler steps that does not require that amount of skill, it is very much poses and jazz steps :)
one certainly can see the ballet background: softness, (don't know a correct word in English) 'preparation' for jumps, etc. Then there's yet another rather tyypical ballet dancer 'problem' - timing and accents: she was late more than once. But that's extremely common amongts ballet dancers doing show & jazz routines. All that said, quite a nice dance - no much complaints.
This is definately NOT the best Cabaret Jazz Solo!... My friends, i think you need to watch more videos and competitions around the World. My ex-girlfriend is gradauted from Julliard, and trust me, i have seen a lot better Dancers than this girl. I am sorry if i am honest, but i don´t play with what i like and love living for... "Dancing is not my Job... it´s my life".
well that's clrearly a ballet dancer but jazz is more about attitude and acting for good sake! besides she really didn't catch the speed of the music, didn't respect its moments and emotions. The dancing tecniques were fine but absolutely mechanical
but I think I'll take the judgement of The Royal Academy of Dance examiners who have never given less than an Honors with Distinction for technical ability in Advanced stream exams, in an International Exam format.
Keep commenting good and bad, I love reading them. I'm her mum and I think she's wonderful. She's no longer dancing as she is now a married mum and approuching 30. But some of her students are enjoying the same technical respect in the wider dance community.
It was a Caberet /Show style dance, not an acrobatic dance. If she were performing an acrobatic dance then her high kicks would have achieved past vertical but this was a dance with control in the technique. The ability to do a routine full of high kicks and nothing else does not make the dancer a "good" dancer, just a person who can kick high!!
As for comments about her technique, everyone to their own opinion and all comments are welcome,
I have watched numerous videos on here and there seems to be an opinion that if a person can "kick high" then they are a good dancer? High Kicks where a vertical split is achieved is a Rythmic Gymnastics movement not a dance technique. It is not a thing you will see performed by the great dancers of the Russian Ballet companies or The Royal Ballet, performing the classics.
hmmm weird, if you say she's a ballerina/amazing dancer, then how come her high kicks are so low? i mean, i do dancing, never been to a competition and yet my high kicks are to my shoulder-i aint even a prof. ballerina! bad training?
It was good!! Work on fouettes but good extension! I would say your ballet training hurt you a bit though, because you were a bit too light on your feet in some of the foot work for fosse. Liked the tumbling. Make sure that you don't just smile through all the sexy stuff though
She's great, but ballet and jazz dance styles are miles away... I mean, I like it and everything but I don't get the "best jazz" part. Maybe best ballet interpretation of a jazz song? lol I'm sure her scores are good, she's great, it's just the title I think people are confused about.

I was taught to never have my back to the audience adn her back was i dont get that im going to show this video to my instructor so maybe she will get off my back
far too delicate, I agree with those who said jazz is not her style. Roxie is greedy for attention, she's not afraid to play it very dirty, she's ready to do anything if it brings her fame and I didn't feel any of that in her performance. It felt like seeing a prepubescent girl hopping around gracefully... definitely not Roxie...
you know, for something said to be the 'best routine to Roxie Hart' , I didn't find it that great. Sure, her ballet technique is great, but there wasn't enough Jazz to it. Everything was fluffy and not sharp. Just my opinion, I'd rather see her do a ballet solo.
When you post a video to youtube, you are opening it up to discussion. And it doesn't all have to be good. Youtube has never stated that criticism is prohibited and I don't remember you doing so either.
@madfil2012 Please don't reply to me about anything that do not involve me personally... I would rather not have any dealings with your kind... you clearly are an internet bully you seem bored with nothing else to do with your time, except sit at your computer all day and comment on things you don't like... here's a tip!! Why don't you watch something that appeals to you so that you can have a more positive response.
evidently you have far more technical ballet knowledge than many Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) examiners.
This dancer has NEVER recieved a mark less than Honors for her exams. In fact her last exam ( the 1 before Solo Seal) she recieved an Honors with Distinction! So according to you these examiners don't know what their talking about??? heh!!
Add to that she is a 6 times winner of The Borovanski Medal, awarded to the Ballet examination candidate with the highest technical mark in Australasia!! maybe these examiners don't know as much as you either???
Really though, it's a good idea to know what your talking about before you shoot your mouth off again.
This video was posted for entertainment value , not to be technically critiqued by people who ARE NOT qualified Ballet examiners!
I'm sorry that I have obviously offended you so much. However, you probably shouldn't let youtube viewers' OPINIONS(I NEVER said that I was correct, I only said what I saw). I am sure that she is a wonderful dancer. You need to take a step back and think before you start attacking viewers.
First, as far as a good dancer, she is sweet but as far as the choreography it is all steps and no story to the music. Obviously, you know nothing about dance if you have to call me names.

wow this is really nice, i really enjoyed watching it, i love her ponche 2:50.
such amazing technique and ALOT of character. where are these comps? country, state etc.
congratulations you are a beautiful dancer. I'm 21 and have only been dancing for 3 years, my technique is improving but i would love to be able to pull off some of the stuff from this routine!!!
keep your shoulders down, i believe there needs to be more ballet training because the enthusaism and the charaacter was highley efficent. more technique and smoother transistions would be an asset to the piece
I really enjoyed this. Im a dancer myself now, for 11 years and i think you used great technique, employed great character and varied the movements greatly. I think you did really well , good job.
PS. to those of you with negative comments just dont post them.
I love this! She's such a good dancer, needs a little more flair and attitude, but this is really neat! I particularly love this song, I'm currently going through an obsession with Chicago!
LOVE IT!!!!! I just put my 13yo in Jazz Dance classes but i am not happy with what i saw on there competiton tapes, i want her to excel but it's very costly! This young lady is great!!!
Good teachers should not be costly ,because they should be teaching for their love of dance. Rather than taking your daughter to a highly recognized dance school where they charge by their reputation, take her to a Ballet school.
All ballerina's are able to dance jazz but no jazz dancer ,no matter how good at jazz ,can put on a pair of pointe shoes and dance repetoire enpointe! Thats why they are not expected to perform enpointe on shows like SYTYCD.
@TheMakeupMistress Sorry, I wasn't replying to you. It was to the poster because she replied to one of my comments very rudely. I didn't even mean for my original comment to sound rude. It was only a comment. And I'm not usually like that. I was just being really rude that week. I'm sorry to anyone I offended
(: i have to pick a piece of repetoire to perform for an A level dance, and i chose to do this (: its an amazing dance.. do you know the choreographers name by any chance? if so could i know it for my coursework it would be a big big help (: and did she have an inspirations for the dance?
agreed....too much ballet, but I agree, also with the poster, that ballet is like piano is to music, ballet is a necessary foundation for most forms of dance.
@sirmixalotsbutt This isn't her best dance in my opinion either but what you can't see from this video is her incredible stage presence and ability to connect with the audience. This has always made her stand out from the crowd. There is no denying she is a talented dancer but she is proof that there is so much more to a performance than simply technique.
umm it didnt love it but it was good! you deff suprised me in some of your tricks.. i kind of didnt really see it coming.. great job tho! keep dancing :)
you can tell you are ballet trained by your choreography.. your technique is flawless but i think a jazz routine needs to be unpredictable, and that wasnt. it was amazing though! jazz moves also dont always need to be perfect, try throwing in a flexed foot or two to make it interesting and more original :)
Well, im the dancer in this vid! My proud mum posted it- id prefer her to remove it but hey? who cares? just ppls opinions... all read, absorbed & thanked! its nice ppl comment- be it good or bad-im a big girl & have heard lots a advice/criticism/praise throughout my life all of which helped me to be who i am today! 3 qualified judges scored 97.6-again 3 opinions- i love to dance & perform-thats what matters! were not all perfect all the time! P.S tan so so REAL- PERTH sunshine mate! cheers x
She's a good dancer no doubt... but the chore (for me) was all wrong.. its just seemed to be trick after trick after trick.. there is no flow...and no real storyline though her movement....the routine reminds me more of an acro performance rather than a jazz number...with a bit of cheesy miming thrown in :(
lovely control and tecnique in her tricks though :)
Whatever! She's showing her technique in a competition. Not acting in the show! Maybe she is a little stiff, but she will loosen up as she grows. You go, Girl! You are off to a great start! <3
I'm sure some people like this and she undoubtedly has talent but for me it was cheesy in the extreme and the ruination of what is a perfectly good routine in the show, infact in the show it is a better routine. This reminded me of a miming drag act and they are meant to be funny which makes it hard to take this seriously.
Hey, you have your opinion I have mine, the difference is I guess I can handle people not agreeing with me. By the way, I'm right up there, after you Ginger!
there are soo manyy haters on youtube sometimes.....allll her moves had greatt finishing and everything flowed wonderfully...with great jazz choreography thrown in with a lil gymnastics for tricks...nice !
Also, just because the music speeds up, doesn't mean the dancer has to as well.
huamingmiao 3 weeks ago

keep your shoulders down, i believe there needs to be more ballet training because the enthusaism and the charaacter was highley efficent. more technique and smoother transistions would be an asset to the piece

6 times ACID Borovansky medal winner.
Royal Academy of Dance Advanced major grade( the 1 before Solo Seal) ,honors with distinction. How much more technique do you require.

This was almost flawless in my opinion :)

ennael7 2 years ago
she needs to stay in the ballet area.
jazz need to be sharp, and attitudey.
i didn't see any of that. i just saw walking around, singing, with occasional leaps and splits. :)
kletsdance 2 years ago 34
Silly comments like this should be ignored! OR did you inadvertantly post this comment to the wrong video?
What there IS NOT, is walking around. It is sharp, has technique, a large variety of movements and masses of sassy atitude.

LOVE IT!!!!! I just put my 13yo in Jazz Dance classes but i am not happy with what i saw on there competiton tapes, i want her to excel but it's very costly! This young lady is great!!!
TheMakeupMistress 2 years ago
Good teachers should not be costly ,because they should be teaching for their love of dance. Rather than taking your daughter to a highly recognized dance school where they charge by their reputation, take her to a Ballet school.
All ballerina's are able to dance jazz but no jazz dancer ,no matter how good at jazz ,can put on a pair of pointe shoes and dance repetoire enpointe! Thats why they are not expected to perform enpointe on shows like SYTYCD.

Thanks!!! I will look into that!!!

@madfil2012 ...? what are you talking about and why are you replying to me?
TheMakeupMistress 1 year ago
@TheMakeupMistress Sorry, I wasn't replying to you. It was to the poster because she replied to one of my comments very rudely. I didn't even mean for my original comment to sound rude. It was only a comment. And I'm not usually like that. I was just being really rude that week. I'm sorry to anyone I offended

Yeahhh i know thart (:

Hey.
(: i have to pick a piece of repetoire to perform for an A level dance, and i chose to do this (: its an amazing dance.. do you know the choreographers name by any chance? if so could i know it for my coursework it would be a big big help (: and did she have an inspirations for the dance?
Anyways AMAZING dance (: I Love performing it.
Thankyou thankyou lots x
MinnieBiscuits 2 years ago
The dancer , choreographed this piece herself.
ennael7 2 years ago
Amazing dancer, but it needs to be roughened up a bit as at the moment it is too balletic. Jazz needs a bit of attitude.
dannyelly91 2 years ago 3
agreed....too much ballet, but I agree, also with the poster, that ballet is like piano is to music, ballet is a necessary foundation for most forms of dance.
enoebel 2 years ago
she's very good but i do agree she's to stiff for Jazz loosen up just a bit

she's not the best dancer but he tecniqe is extremly good but her kicks could be higher and she needs to extend her leaps more.

i wouldn't say its the best dance i've ever seen

This has been flagged as spam show
@sirmixalotsbutt This isn't her best dance in my opinion either but what you can't see from this video is her incredible stage presence and ability to connect with the audience. This has always made her stand out from the crowd. There is no denying she is a talented dancer but she is proof that there is so much more to a performance than simply technique.
Dansta5 1 year ago
it is obvious that she is ballet-trained because her movements are too stiff for jazz...she's good though

umm it didnt love it but it was good! you deff suprised me in some of your tricks.. i kind of didnt really see it coming.. great job tho! keep dancing :)
dsnydewgirl 2 years ago
you can tell you are ballet trained by your choreography.. your technique is flawless but i think a jazz routine needs to be unpredictable, and that wasnt. it was amazing though! jazz moves also dont always need to be perfect, try throwing in a flexed foot or two to make it interesting and more original :)

P.S tan so so REAL- PERTH sunshine mate! cheers x
dance12min 2 years ago
She's a good dancer no doubt... but the chore (for me) was all wrong.. its just seemed to be trick after trick after trick.. there is no flow...and no real storyline though her movement....the routine reminds me more of an acro performance rather than a jazz number...with a bit of cheesy miming thrown in :(
lovely control and tecnique in her tricks though :)
SimoneRockPrincess 2 years ago
I think its awesome that you are trying other styles and i know that its hard to lose that really stiff ballet look :P
GOOD for YOU! =)
MsBunhead 2 years ago
Whatever! She's showing her technique in a competition. Not acting in the show! Maybe she is a little stiff, but she will loosen up as she grows. You go, Girl! You are off to a great start! <3

I loveee it!!
Erilove14 2 years ago
I'm sure some people like this and she undoubtedly has talent but for me it was cheesy in the extreme and the ruination of what is a perfectly good routine in the show, infact in the show it is a better routine. This reminded me of a miming drag act and they are meant to be funny which makes it hard to take this seriously.
