yep, good times, tv bloopers and practical jokes, gimmie a break, punky brewster, and the real ghostbusteers all eded with this logo and song...hearing this takes me back to a winter afternoon in 1986, and whenever i heard this i knew dinner time was coming soon...
I recently spotted this variation on some local reruns of S1 of "That's My Mama!" when this logo plastered the CPT '74 Pretzel.
On That's My Mama! these days, some eps. keep part of the '80s reruns feel thanks to this CPT logo seen here and sometimes is followed by the SPT Shiny Bars of Boredom logo.
FYI, Coca-Cola owned Columbia Pictures and CPT from April 1982 to November 1989. I agree with you. It is very cool, and I love this logo. The first time I have seen it it was at the end of the 1982 made-for-tv movie, The Blue and The Gray, starring Stacy Keach, Lloyd Bridges, and Gregory Peck, and a few others. I have the DVD copy of that film. It uses a higher pitched version of the jingle used in the 1976-82 version of CPT logo.
lol hey don't feel bad. Espically when theres like a delay after the shows over and then all of a sudden BAM CP's logo! That defently can make your spine go to chills.
Sometimes the CPT '82 logo still pops up on a few eps. of local reruns of "What's Happening Now!!" from the 1st season 1985-86.
Also, some reruns of "That's My Mama" have this logo plastered over the original 1974-76 CPT "Pretzel" logo and sometimes it would be followed by the SPT "Shiny Bars" logo.
Heck Yeah! This is my favorite logo, because the Coke logo was on the bottom of the screen. The reason for that is because Coca-Cola was owning Columbia Pictures and Columbia Pictures Television (CPT) from April 1982 to November 1989. Look it up on Wikipedia. That is how I knew about this.
In 1976 Suzanne Ciani composed the Columbia Pictures and Columbia Pictures Television theme jingles. That includes this scary one so she is held responsible for these continuous nightmares across America's Family homes!!!
It was December 18, 1987. December 21, 1987-1991, it was "A Unit of Columbia Pictures Entertainment, Inc." And from 1991-1992, it was bylineless by SPE.
@JHollowayNetwork I meant plaster

This logo usually gets plaster by the Columbia TriStar or Sony Pictures Television logos but it may still pop up on old prints of shows.

yeah i would automatically put this one in the scary top 5 of 80's logos but The Paramount Blue Mountain will be #1 hands down in that cateogory.

Actually, this version ended in 1987, not 1988. CPE didn't exist until Dec. 21, 1987

When shows originally with this logo are now rerun, it is replaced by the Sony Pictures "Shining Bars" logo.

I love the Torch Lady logo a little better than the Sunburst logo. I think the Sunburst music sounds a lot better with the Columbia Torch Lady Logo!

I got over my crippling fear of this logo, a long time ago, but the jingle will always send chills down my spine if I hear it unexpectedly.

This used to scare me as a kid, especially if it appeared after a DIC logo (Vortex and Kid in Bed), but not now.
benschlechter 5 years ago
This logo never scared me as a kid. If anything, I thought it was pretty cool. To me, it looked like that lady was squirting water.
A side note:I don't remember Coca-Cola ever owning Colubmia Pictures.
samsticka 5 years ago
Yes. Coca Cola bought Columbia Pictures in 1982 and sold it to Sony in 1989. (I think) Forgive me if I am wrong.
