Sorry I know she's dead and I'm sure she was a great cook and a wonderful mother, but she always was a horrible singer and musician. Paul should never have dragged her on stage. From what I've heard she never wanted to go in the first place. Anyways this is hardly a feminist anthem, with her singing about her place in the kitchen. I know this won't be a popular post, but I'm just being honest here....
This is the first time I've heard this song, or heard Linda sing solo for that matter, and I like it alot. It's got a catchy beat, and I the lyrics are smart and funny too.
Thanks for the post, I'm using it in my Speed of Sound playlist :-)
@FlamingoKicker Of course he did, it wasn't performed on that tour!! This song was on the setlist for the "Back To The Egg" world tour, not the Venus & Mars or Wings at the Speed Of Sound
But wasn't "Cook of the House" on Wings at the Speed of Sound? I know Paul sang alot of his songs from that album on that first tour. Maybe Linda didn't think she was ready to sing in public upfront yet?
Yep, this track is on the Wings At The Speed Of Sound but remember McCartney's world tour was sort of a quest to show everyone there was indeed music after the beatles so he took only his best material. It wasn't that Linda wasn't ready, remember on the very first Wings Tours of 1972, she sang lead on "Seaside Woman", a reggae song she wrote.

She gave it everything and just enjoyed herself. Critics on this clip are just soooo jealous that they never had the chance to have the spirit Linda had. Love this clip and love Linda's singing. How can anyone bring someone down for just having a go and enjoying themselves? Unbelievable!

Lovely Linda was just that..LOVELY in heart, soul & character. She IS what being a good woman & mother/wife is ALL about. She stood by Paul during the band's break up & legal wars..& his depression over it. She (in her wisdom) knew these lads (Beatles) loved each other dearly & would most likely fight equal intensity. Paul in turn gave Linda all the love she deserved. They loved & completed each other until the end..with Paul & their children by her side. Peace to you lovely Linda!
Who cares if she could sing. What a love story, Paul and Linda. He is the greatest rock star in the world, and he wanted to take his wife along. I found one like that. Not many are that lucky.
Ages ago... Was a massive fan of Paul as a teen. On holiday stumbled accidently into the backgarden of their farm. When I realised where I was I stood rooted to the ground and could hardly stumble. Linda was very kind and eased me up. Brief talk (= all I could manage), hand shake, that's it. Didn't even have a camera on me.
Lo que importaba de Linda no era qué tan bien cantaba, sino su entusiasmo y lo valiente que era de subirse a un escenario sin tener experiencia musical alguna...
I'm not into Haggis. But I Do love Linda

What a phrase! LOL!
Did you make it up or is it common in your language?
Seriously, she can't. But who cares? I've got an awful lot of respect for her to stand on a stage and sing solo to a crowd! She's got guts!
And she's a gentle soul. I didn't get a word out when I met them and she got me to calm down. So sweet.
