nice to hear this in full - my original had a scratch through the first 2 mins. or so - i still listen to this expecting the tune to jump to the next line! lol
the thing that gets me in this track is that it sounds 'strange' or off-kilter, but it's played so tightly, i.e it's meant to be like that. the sound is basic and simple but the playing is very clever
'angular guitar' is the phrase i'm looking for, instead of just strumming plain chords
the orig do it lp is a masterpiece. the rest is unlistenable. i loved the ants until about 79...then it was just too embarrassing to be seen in those old adam-designed tee shirts. still - this first lp ranks as one of my favorites.
reminds me of my old mate Tony, who had a blue car and gave us a lot of trouble. The car that was.We used to torment people around North Devon in it back in the day..What happy times we had, silly yet happy.
@doggreen1000 Kev Mooney played bass on about half the songs on the Ant's multi-million seller 'Kings of the Wild Frontier' and a couple of B-sides. All during Adam's succesful period. Andy Warren played on Dirk Wears White Sox.
I used to be an ant fan ,,,, but I was in a pub ,,,wow yeh ,he came in with a bloody gun , everyone shit themselves then the pigs came.but I will still be a fan
Feckin' love this song. <33333. ''Have you ever had to ride in a light blue car....have you ever had to stop and wonder who's the slave and who's the master....''
@fuckamericanidiot have you ever had trouble with your auto-mobile, have you ever had to push, push, push, push. Dunna' nunna nuh nuh, Car trouble oh yeah.
I'm a fan of the pop stuff, but this reminds me of Siouxsie and the Banshees a bit. Not that that's surprising, considering where the Ants started. :D Awesome track.
been listening to this album since 82 when i was in 2nd year. once i got over the fact it was NOTHING like the pop stuff, i saw it for what it was. incredible.
The backing band more or less deserted him. They couldn't resist joining up with Malcolm McLaren to form Bow Bow Wow. Bet they were kicking themselves....
only the bassist, Andy Warren, had dignity (although i didn't listen more than one Bow Wow Wow song, watching that beach video on VH1), he joined Monochrome Set, who were a more experimental version of 1977-80 Ants
im a big Killing Joke fan but they totally nicked the drums from the beginning of this for `Follow The Leaders`

Dark and nasty. Got it with my Xmas money early '82. Aged 13. Not exactly Prince Charming, is it?
In the Top 5 album sleeves to me, and a damned near perfect bit of vinyl.

This song reminds me of the time I drove my light blue iroq to santa barbara. The tranny give out on me, the piece of crap. Its a sad but true story.
