  • Japan is a vegetable crop and fishing nation. Ingredients for pizza are largely farm animals.

Given those two facts, why do you think pizza cost more in Japan? LOL

Unless you don't know much about how the economy works, then I don't see why that is not obvious.

  • I'm not sure, but the "feels good to be safe" is there because I hear japan is quite against GMO's. Which I know America has loads of. I don't think it has anything to do with nationalism. I could be wrong tho.

  • omg thay are not like usa? omg.

    It's Japan not USA

  • Do u actually live in Japan? I alwayz liked to go there but i dont know how many USD i need like to be for a week there. Learning japanese is easy? i want to learn it its cool :)

  • Horse meat? Now that's just totally unecessary... Native american don't eat horses, they ride them!

  • In Canada, theres T&T its a very asian super market and it has alot of those funky tofu stuff so we're not that off ... i hope ._.

  • This guy is kind of annoying >.<

  • I ate raw horse meat when I was in Kagoshima city! It was really gross haha

  • yamaei ? what is the food you are saying gives you energy? i can't find it o.o

  • im glad that i don't have to pay nearly a quarter as much for grocery bills here in canada, although our income is equivalent to Japans....

    but japan is fun.

  • "im so hungry i can eat a horse".....when they mean that they REALLY ment it! lol

  • "born and raised in Tokyo Japan" :( I'm so jealous LOL

I'm half Japanese and visit for like 1-2 months a year to Yokohama D: but I would love to live there :'(

  • Anyone knows what's written on the top of the video? 外国人が見るスーパートは。 I understand every word but put together I don't get the sentence so any help please!

  • horse meat doesn't sound that bad, and besides i'm chinese

  • You find the food safety sign as just an overt nationalism in Japan?

Have you ever heard of residual post-harvest pesticides? And how about their freshness? How about the word "China-free"?

So you are fundamentally just another gaijin who never learns anything, after all.

  • After I wrote my previous comment,

Today I accidentaly found hamburger buns at my nearest supermarket, lol

about 130yen,for 4 buns in one package.(the manufacturer is "Nichiryo")

    The size was bit small,though.

  • Why Japanese supermarkets don't sell hamburger bans? That's because us Japanese people don't make hamburgers at their(our) homes like the american people do.They(We) usually go to McDonalds or MosBurger etc.when they(we) want to eat hamburgers. But probably you can find hamburger bans at Costco stores in Japan. They sell it,I guess.

  • omg i could never eat a horse D=

  • What's with the bell ???, it gets annoying after a while, so much for a relaxing shopping experience....

  • lol where i live a 50 kilo bag of rice costs 30 bucks lol Tokyo is INSANE with prices i saw that XD

  • Why would you want to eat hamburger in Japan when you have awesome Japanese Food????

  • @AbdulSheik1 EXACTLY!! when I first moved to Yokohama I went crazy and ate tons of sushi, sukiyaki and ramen. yummy :) somehow Americans are surprised that there is no crappy food in Japan.... Japanese are slim and healthy cuz they eat lots of veggies and sea food instead of hamburgers and hotdogs

  • savages don't they know you treat a horse like a women and a women like a horse

  • Domestic goods = expensive.

  • I think that almost Japanese SuperMarket don't have some hamburger buns and pattys.

I don't like especially make hamburger patty by ground beef.

Please tell me where can I get hamburger patty.

  • i love japan like all the world <3

  • FYI native americans don't eat any meat raw uless your referring to jerky

  • Don't get me wrong. I love your channel and videos, but any music can be a bit off-putting. I love these tours around Japan, enabling foreigners to see what is eaten, etc. :) :)

  • I like these informative videos, a lot. The music can be a bit distracting, but ... thanks for sharing anyway!

  • Guess they like their low carb diets! No buns for you! :P LOL

  • No hamburger in Japan huh?:P

Is that why they live 100 years? :P

  • AIRSOFT MOVE VIDOS

  • cool video maan,i will search 4more on tube,lol

  • Interesting over there

  • In Bulgaria we also eat horse meat and its quite tasty. Its not really like a taboo in our country its pretty normal so you should try it tastes rally good. :)

  • Is there TESCO in Japan? XD

  • Is that so important for a supermarket to sell hamburger buns and cheese?

  • WWWOOOWWW!!!!! NO WAY!!!

Here a bag of rice (1kilo) costs like US$1.50!!

  • I would use "American" cheese white or orange not cheddar

  • que padre tendre que hacer uno de mexico great stuff man keep it up I always wanted ot know more about japan

  • in bavaria you can buy horse sausages

it tastes not very different than normal ones

  • Am I wrong here, but do they always say impossible instead of no. I really never hear a Japanese person give a firm no.

  • so are there loads of hosts in Japan / Tokyo? Or do you just hang around those places ? o.O

  • i dont understand what you meant when you say Canada and US doesnt have a large tofu section in supermarkets. Clearly if you live in Canada you would have been into T&T a pure chinese supermarket. They have more than just one aisle for just tofu made food.

And second, really that comparison was terrible. White people dont eat tofu at all.

  • jap rice are expensive due to very little import of rice from other countries, and japan has very little space for farming rice at all with the increasing demand. And ofcourse inflationary issues with Yen.

  • I heard an urban myth that the horses for that raw horse meat (basashi) comes from the dirt cheap wild horses rounded up by the state and fed govts in the US west! Great video!

  • i love japan and all his stuff :)

  • Huh...Raw horse meat.... :D I can live with it.

  • I REALLY want to go to japan one day. The only problem would be the language barrier... IT WILL HAPPEN!!!

  • Keep up the good work, very interesting videos.

    Thanks,

    Phil

  • good horse...good horse.....what a life u've been through

  • I agree with the others. You are handsome...

  • 2:02 the lady seems so sweet.

  • @saberbazer That's ok, they can't get enough of us so everything works out.

  • when i pass my exam my dad is going to take me on a trip to Japan for a week.

i live in The Netherlands (europe) so Japan is on the other half of the world for me.

and its just so different then my western culture. i want to experience it :O

  • in the cayman islands where i live rice cost wayy more than that. fuckers rip me off. i love rice.

  • @martiniforlunch92 for thousand of century...We had killed for rice, for rice plantation, for rice copyright and rice identity...I see no difference if you kill the fucker for over pricing...KILL FOR RICE!

  • @Insomaniaartist wow that wasn't extremist or anything....

  • @martiniforlunch92 RICE for SPICE? the indian said... FUCK YOU!!! the Asian Reply!!! YOU FUCK, wait til we make them super expensive and your spice will worth dog shit!!! HAHAHAH i know but watching this guy talk about rice... make me wanna go pro-rice...

  • @Insomaniaartist you make no sense...

  • @martiniforlunch92 how could i... when we didn't actually greet each other and introduce our name... It's just like you had met a happy person in a bar and he offer to tell you a joke or two.

  • Aww Haha @ 0:31 The asian guy is soo Kakkoii. Haha!

  • I eat horse every day on my bread. Not raw though lol.

  • This video is very interesting.

And the comments make me laugh:-)

I wonder why many comments are from Holland though...

Anyway, good job. Keep on making this kind of cultural videos.

  • hmm....Rice is about the same price, nowadays. in the 10-50 price range, depending on the size.

  • people eat horse meat in switzerland all the time! yuck :O

  • who the hell needs to buy taco shells and hamburger in japan. you're in japan, eat sushi and rice.

  • i like your haircut

  • yeah and asian ppl cant get enough of europe or america

  • Everybody keeps saying how ''insane'' it is that they don't have proper hamburgers, pizza's, etc. But let's think about it for a second.

If someone from Japan came for instance to The Netherlands, they too would be freaked out by how expensive our sushi is, and that we nearly don't have tofu in our supermarkets.

It's normal for a country to have more of this and less of that. It's not insane at all.

  • Well you dont get a ham bun cause its not a f*ing fat america!

  • @adomolis Hey, you don't have to be rude. You're not so great yourself. Just cause this guy is a twerp doesn't give you the right to be.

  • I love these details oriented videos. I like knowing every little thing about living in Japan, as that country has always fascinated me.

  • You are in Japan. What do you expect ?

    An american supermarket.

    Give me a break

  • i just want to say thanks for making these great videos. this is the first one i watched... but i know the other ones will be good. lol

  • OMG HAHAH i took a picture with the old dude that's wearing the goldfish bowl earrings.. AHAHA CRAAZY!

  • horse meat mmmm taste like chicken lol

  • 楽しかったです!

    私もスーパー大好きなので・・・笑

    素敵な動画をありがとう^^

  • i swear this guy is so Negivite.

The rice is that much because theres different types for different dishes, and its quality not the shit ones that they have in the states/canada

  • Have you tried looking at CostCo in Japan? They usually have hamburger buns.

  • Why is the rice so expensive?

  • @Soralella71 Japanese grow their own. THats why

  • @Soralella71 Because the rice, can be of different quality, and different Ingridients, to make it more richer, etc. No offense to him, but I dont think the guy in the video is that smart. Only because he was surprised that they didnt sell Hamburgers in a Japanese supermarket. He is an Japan. Its not the same way you make stuff in America.

  • @SpazzyxxGenina He knows it's not the same way...he was just making it sound like he just found out about that fact, just to make the story interesting. He knows it's not the same market demands and consumer choices as in America and stuff...he acted surprised just in order to bring interest in us.

  • Question: If your a foreigner do those rules apply? The sitting down and exchanging business cards deal? Or do they expect you to know all of these mannerisms and rules? Thanks for the vid.

  • Japanese rice firmers are propected by government. that's why price is high.

  • you're supposed to eat that horse raw? not cook it at home?

  • Those rice prices are same in Hawai'i

  • For the horsemeat.....In Holland we put sliced horced meat (not raw...smoked) on our bread, so eating horse meat doesn't sound that strange to me....And for the rice....WOW...Those prices are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay up there.....Better switch to Surinam rice!! Great in taste, but way better in price!! (But I don't suppose you can get Surinam rice in Japan...Damn!!)

  • @gyqz Eten we paardenvlees? Neeee D: Alhoewel, paarden stinken, dus ik vind het niet zo erg..

  • @Megamuis hahahahahahahaha...honden stinken ook......die ook maar op brood?? LOL

  • thanks

  • the guy at 00:13 looks like a real like master roshi

  • I would love to live in Japan, and soak in so much of the culture, I love japanese food, I think it's better than chinese.

  • OH my GOD! I love your show xD

I've been to Tokyo one week ago... damn... why haven't I found your channel earlier xD I guess that would have made many things easier *gg*

TOKYO ROCKS!! And so do you! =D

  • @miramar9999 I know right?

  • great stuff, thanks for sharing with us,

    also please explain whats genmai

  • LOL the talk overs

  • i love Japan and I love you for showing me Japan

  • the bell is so annoying

  • Comment removed

  • what is genmai?

  • ive never had genmai but from my understanding it is various whole grains people mix with there rice. Its healthy and high in figer which is why it gives you lots of energy. Alot like brown rice.

  • I feel so awesome for being able to read and understand the whole thing atop the video including the Kanji lol! While studying it's like *sigh*.."Mendokuse..." but then you use it practically and it feels good lol...A Youtube vid of all places.

  • I live in Cherry Hill New Jersey, and in my area I have three asian markets. They all have a great selection. One has a tofu section as big as in this video. But I guess this store is the exception to the normal. Most areas in America do not have the selection.

  • Well, it's cute. But... since I'm one of THOSE native americans you speak about, I'm VERY curious how you associate raw horse meat with us. That is a European thang, buddee. France sil vous plait.

  • hey guys! can someone explain to me what tofu and marshmellows are? sorry for the inexperience but we dont have that in greece....

  • i don't know how you were able to video in a market. i take a picture and i get 2 guys in my face waving their hands. no picture, no picture.

  • I'm probably not gonna move to japan, but I'm hoping i can go there for college.

  • i like your videos. Your young and fun. not like your typical boring, old school, nerdy travel videos. how long have u been living in japan? and do u still live there?

  • hehe thanks for the video you are extremely cute :)

  • man you suck for that. i'm moving to japan

  • horsemeat so??? tartar is also horso

  • That food safety sign is regarding the produce made in China which was used to be a big issue about a year ago.

I think it avoids to say so because of diplomatic issue.

  • local japanese stuff, AWSOME!

  • song?

  • make a video about where the best looking girls are at

  • The guy looks like a Japanese John Leguizamo.

  • i think the guy is hot

  • Random kittens at the end...

  • U r great man !!! I love Japan !!! :D

  • In japan, hamburger is not a main food.

    So, u wanna eat hamburger,

u should go to hamburger shop.

  • Mos burger? >:D

  • what is genmae and how would you eat it? do you put it in a dish or something??

  • kokusan(made in Japan), safe and safety. it means it's better than the poinsonous chinese imports. the chinese are like parasites in japan. they steal jobs and commit crimes.

  • lmfao at the hamburger w/ cheese and no bun!!! the kitties were cute!

  • Broccoli made in japan is not nationalist! They just know better not to eat crap.

Broccoli from America is Frankenfood eating food in the U.S. is like living off of pringles.

  • WHAT YOU NOT LIKE HORSE MEATS?

    YOU HAVE THE WISDOM!

    watch?v=kGsekjHxZus

  • what race are you? blue eyes? wtf?!

  • I had trouble finding marshmellows in Japan, maybe because I was in the country side?

Btw, that is a BITCHIN' MOTORCYCLE!

  • You explained "kokusan(made in Japan), safe and safety" for broccoli as bad Japanese nationalism. You should be more aware of issues with imported food products from China. I'm glad you introduce our society but I'd like you to be more careful of the background not to send wrong massages to YT viewers.

  • Yes, food security is important - for any country!

Otherwise this video is good! Great tip about the genmai!

YOU HAVE THE UNCLE RICE WISDOM!

    *SOUNDS GONG*

  • Do not narrate/translate the spoken japanese parts, put subtitles or just leave it as it is.

  • omg...u are so fit...how could u do that?

  • no hamburger buns???!! what a weird and crazy country! how unamerican!

  • maybe its cus it aint america?

  • I love the sub-over voices lol. I remember when I was younger I thought Japan went by the $ too. So I thought there one bag of food or one shirt actualy cost 2-3000$. LMAO! What is with the ringing bell!?!?!?!? Love your videos!!!

  • Whenever I try to videotape in the grocery store in Japan, they always yell at me and tell me to turn it off, what gives?

  • u know i suffered with that too, but ive found 1 grocery store here in Chiba, where I live, that sells hamburger buns!! Pack of 4 :)!! They r not as good as the ones i used to buy in Brazil, but better than nothing. U can try buying them from brazilian supermarkets ^^!!

  • Thats because there main source of carbs are from rice which is the case for most of Asia. Their food is much healthier with more meat and veg and less breads.

  • ur hot

  • horse is my fav animal and horse meat is my fav meat.
