  • is the singer in this Sierra Boggess?

  • Man, this is actually really well written.

  • @athiraa in the musical she is ariels aunt, in the movie shes just the evil sea witch who got banished and in the original story shes just a sea witch, she wasnt banished, shes not evil or looking to rule the kingdom she just takes ariels voice in return for ariels three days to try to woo the prince, but if she doesnt shell turn into sea foam, the prince ends up marrying a girl he thinks saved him and ariel ends up almost killing him to save herself but instead doesnt and goes to heaven

  • @athiraa In the musical they are siblings, Triton and Ursula. -Sweet child-"You can't possibly mean... Aunt Ursula?" Though that arguably wasn't always the base for canon :) Some say Ursula was originally meant to have this background where she used to be bitter about her unrequited love for him. I personally prefer the canon established in the musical version.

  • just wonderful. This version is beautiful. I can relate to it....

  • this is why we have a replay button!

  • What is this from? The broadway version is a quartet with Sebastian and King Triron??

(sorry is you've already answered this!)

    I love this song!

  • I have a question... are Ursula and Ariel related? Like an aunt?

I saw that question in a quiz once. But never got the right answer, and in th musical Ursula sings that her father on his deathbed divided the sea into two, her and triton - who also got the trident. Are they siblings?

  • Well it said so on the dvd, but they took it out of the movie.

  • Really? cool. When you say that it said so on the dvd, you mean printed or actually in the movie?

Funny how they turn up half fish half octopus in the same family. And that means Ursula is her auntie, and somehow related to Melody too.

But hey! When Morgana shows up, it means that they, as sisters, Ursula was always their mother's favorite. Aka they had the same mother as Triton?

But of course Disney doesn't really think things through if you look at the tird movie about theagemistakes

  • ursula is realated 2 ariel, if u hear before the song poor unfortunate souls on broadway u'd hear "tell dear old aunty everything"

  • awesome in a way ^^

But still the complications with morgana in the sequel... but fun to know xD

  • ya. ursella and king triton are brother and sister. ut he kicked her out of the kingdom when she was caught doing black majic. its all explined in a couple of ursella's songs, for instance "i want the good times back"

  • @athiraa In the movie version, King Triton banished Ursula from his palace, and the sea witch wanted revenge. Simple as that. She could be either version, since there aren't precisions in the scripts revealed.

  • @athiraa Ursula is Triton's sister

  • Okay thank you very much :]

  • I bought the sheet music off amazon. I bought the whole book actually, but i also saw it for just the song other places. Just google Little Mermaid Broadway Sheet Music

  • If anyone has sheetmusic I would appreciate it if i could get it, please :]

  • i love it!

does anybody have the sheet music of this song?

  • Does it end like the disney movie but maybe a bit more inspired by Hc andersens original?

  • more along the lines of she gets her man..but is her own hero

  • Yeah Ariel is awesome because she saves him (!!) and also as you says she has the will to make her own dreams come true. I think the most disneygirls have the same ambitions..

  • in the story it was based off of she turns into sea foam. =(

  • You mean Hc Andersen? Well... she cannot kill him to save her own life (turning into foam) but instead she gets saved by the angels/air children and gets to make children happy for eternity and someday get a soul because of it. Happy/sad? Not in need of mr. Right. Sad? Hc Anderse based it on his own loveless life. Jenny Lind saw him as a sister, and he even tried homosexuality without success

  • No, ( Don't read more if you don't want to know) Ariel saves herself and Ursala never becomes a human.

  • Woah cool, female power XD But if I might see the musical one day I shouldn't read more :)

  • I love this version better than the final one, with it just being Ariel and Eric, except for the "shackles" bit. I prefer the line about the "silence" being broken instead. It fits into the story better.

  • I saw this production on Broadway and cried soo much

  • me too! :')

  • Comment removed

  • That's not her voice.

  • what do you mean..?

  • that's not sierra boggess's voice

  • yeahh, its not.

    its a demo version

  • @WATCHandLEARNxx nooo it's just the difference between broadway's track and the soundtrack's track. i bought The Little Mermaid Original Broadway Soundtrack off of iTunes and Sierra Boggess sings "then the silence would be broken", but the broadway version definitely is "all my shackles, they'd be broken" :P

  • It's Kerry Butler.

  • In another version of this song it is "Then the silence would be broken"...but not this one obv. Love this song!!

  • In Ariel's part, it's not "Then the silence would be broken." from what I hear, it's "All my shackles, they'd be broken."

Just saying :) great slideshow! I love this song!

  • heyy thanks for the tip! i'll change it :D i just got these of a lyrics website i didnt really READ these ahahah but thanks! i'll change it ASAP.
