Great documentary, I especially liked the cacophony of special effects, over-the-top dramatic music and the growly-voiced presenter who hams its up and pretty much shows no respect for a total disaster but turns it it into entertainment... go National Geographic, yay!
I doubt the man in 13:52 looking at the wave and sitting there as it comes to sweep him died by drowning, I would assume a wave crashing into a human llike that at that speed, with tha kind of force behind it is like getting hit by a speeding city bus.
this documentary is shit. full of false information. Like the fact that a 'huge' wave starts in the middle of the ocean. it doesn't start as a huge wave at all.
it took a day an a half for the Australian media to report this after it happened, hence why we have not bothered turning the tv on in over 2 years.. wld highly recomend it, who needs mind control!!!
I remember that Christmas Day (before church) Reading a small 12-15 line article in the Brief Section. All it said that there was a 9.1 near Indonesia and that no other info has gotten out....
I said SH** out loud, and got yelled at by my Mother. I looked dead at her, pointed at the article, and told my mother that I should of dropped and F bomb, there would be at least 100K dead from this. She didn't believe me.
Then she saw the images in the news the next day, then she understood.
Just an awful event. Thank God it hasn't happened since, or someone would be trying to convince us it was due to global warming, trying to con us out of money and control what we're doing.
This isn't the deadliest natural disaster in history or even recent history. Listverse's "Top 10 Deadliest Natural Disasters" has it as ninth. The deadliest was a 1931 flood that killed 1-4 million people. This doesn't even come close.

@Elemarth
where did it happen?
eurythorpe 11 months ago
@eurythorpe China. The deadliest floods always seem to happen in China.
Elemarth 11 months ago
@Elemarth well that has far less to do with the actual floods and much more to do with China's enormous population.
