  • funny alot of systems say they are better cause they do things different in all FMA is the same.

  • @Solareffects If you've ever trained with training knives, this wouldnt surprise you. Against the skin they can burn you, leave marks. If its got a pointy tip, well it still pushes it in. And if you apply pressure on it against muscles or bones it hurts like a bitch.

  • Im proud to be a Filipino just watching this but other countries are cool too =) !

  • new tecnique pleas

  • this looks fun, gona try this at the weekend. Yeah right!

  • has anyone every LIVED to tell his encounter with a knife fighter? MABUHAY ang PILIPINAS!!!

  • This looks very nice and I greatly respect eskrimadores, additionally I studied for years. The challenge I have with knife to knife training. Is knife to knife encoutner alomst never happens except on TV, pirate boats and little villages in 3 world countries.

  • lol i could of guessed dutch guys r so cool.

    "what im doing shlow".

    "the knife is allredy Disharmed.

    "i do Thish"

    ahahaha i love it

  • Great to hear you trained with GM Inting Carin, (VICAR Self Defence Club) God rest his soul, he was a great tutor, friend and asset to Filipino martial arts.

  • Frans: "It's very easy...." blam blam blam... dead, lol.

  • this video is taken on cebu near the lapu-lapu monument cool

  • Yes..i know these movements because, before study under one disciple of Gm Momoy, i was istructor of escrima latosa.

Doce Pares system is different, not San Miguel, but yes is different from this guy.

The problem is that now many people talk about philippines but, using the uniforms of DP or Philippino Escrimadors,but..

    M Claudio

  • varry good

  • I noticed there's Philippine flag on the sparring partner's sleeve....cool. BTW, im 29 years old. Is it too late for me to start this kind of training? Galing talaga ng Pinoy...

  • @molestoi

No one is too late to learn something new. Take it up man!

  • @molestoi

No one is too late to learn something new. Take it up man!

  • @molestoi I don't think that's too old. I'm 17 and I've done a few different martial arts; I'm currently taking some courses. In class there are some people who are way older than you. (Like even people around 50 and 60) And they, along with everyone else, seem to have a real good time, as well as get a nice workout. ^_^

I've never taken Eskrima knife fighting, but, heck, why not. Its never too late to try.

I'm trying to find a local school that offers this...Haven't had much luck so far. Lol.

  • My heritage goes back all the way to the begining of the Philippines. I want to learn this technicue

  • 5:27 =D just watch it . 5 stars !!

  • @mebested 5 stars indeed my friend.lol

  • dude is that the lapu-lapu memorial? i've been there! i heart the philippines.

  • Frans Stroeven, great tactics, when are you going to open a club in Australia.

  • i know im a noob, but do those knives have a special name?

if i go to k-mart, or sports authority, what kind of knife do i ask for?

  • @malleymyster I think you should practice with spoons first before you use knives lol.

  • this stuff is awesome, no nonsense, anyone know a good Eskrima School in Portland or?

  • aikido doessnt work here or any martial arts...

    filipino rules..

  • Damn. That is some crazy stuff!

  • he's like an inocent kid faced maniak: "sometimes i do this" "sometimes i do that" - talking about it as would talk about having a walk - i think he likes it in real.

  • Thank you (DP19) for your video. It was very informative and it simplified the art of knife fighting.

I am from Canada. It is illegal to carry "non-leathal" weapons (Example: Tasers, peppersprays, knuckle dusters) but, it's a "slap on the wrist" to carry a knife.

  • ...and...I'm there, I'm there, I'm there.

  • 4.02..He stabs him hard with the practice knife..Lol

  • Fantastic demo! 0.o

  • Excellent video. I'm impressed!!!

  • I concur. I've been involved with FMA in a couple of different styles now for a while and this is one of the best blade demo's I have seen. Very very good stuff.

  • these eskrima boys make knives fly rofl

  • He's damn good, Ive seen him in action in Holland!! :)

  • he learned all his style from the original doce pares of cebu....quick hands, good post.

  • Thats not true. Frans started training eskrima in the early 80's. He trained latosa under Bill newman, and later inosanto kali and other styles. In the late 90's he start training in cebu. So if you watch this clips good, you can see that his style looks different than original DP

  • excellent demonstration of techniques, great video nicely done.

  • Escrima is a very practical martial art. Because no matter where you are, you will always come across something that remotely resembles a stick.

I suggest everyone to add this style to their repitoire. Great weapon self defense martial art.

  • Sorry but I fail to see any defensive moves in this video ... only death blows. Scary art.

  • generally if a knife gets involved in a fight basic self defence automatically becomes a life or death situation. Stab him before stabs you. Pretty much the reason why you should rather run if you can than fight.

  • perhaps, but if you kill the other you will be charged with manslaughter.

  • dude, in the philippines, offense is the best defense, as my grandpa said, attack first donnot wait, thats why you cant see some filipinos who pushes somebody, they either punch and kick you and break your neck. or stab you. youre lucky if they will leave you breathing.

  • i would be scared even if he was holding a chicken drumstick, pinoy style martial arts is ice cold..Need ta learn dis video, den go practice on my nephew..maybe use the tv remote instead

  • It was funny the parts where he had already stabbed the guy multiple times but still continued to do dumog on him. But I know it was all for the purpose of instruction. Good job!!

  • New proposed rules from the U S Customs will broaden the definitions of illegal knives to include all Knife's that can be opened with one hand which will in effect ban ALL pocket knives nationwide that can be opened with one hand

please go to AKTI before June 18, to help prevent this, the only contribution asked of you is your voice

  • ...thanks guys for preserving this art!

  • Great technique. Even teaches variations. Must have had a godd Pinoy teacher. See the Philippine flag on the uniform?

  • i like filipino style

  • where is he from?

  • Hello Vutowski,

    HE is from Holland.

  • lol i could of guessed dutch guys r so cool.

  • haha super bad ass

  • back in high school my arnis teacher taught me that the best defensive style of stick fighting is running away from your enemy..

  • the beauty of eskrima is. take away the knife and all these techniques are still effective especially wuth the stick techniques.

  • Great stuff!

  • i like you style.!

  • his training partner is real good.... just be there for frans

  • Filipino style is awesome.

  • can i have a copy of your video?

  • wow, this guy is as smooth and watchable as Vunak, great stuff indeed

  • dat ziet er goed uit

  • you make the knife flow like water.

  • Very good, I like the looseness and adaptability.

  • amazing stuff, nice movement and flow. .. im gonna learn this now,

  • I wish there was somewhere I could learn this near my house, all they have is stupid karate.

  • if possible, save your cash, then get yourself to the Phillipines for six months intensive training

    Thats what many do

  • Look up Doce Pares and see if they have anything near you.

  • Very good stuff!
