I just watched you journey up to this point and it is an inspiration to me! I have an underbite as well, and I'm scheduled to have my surgery within the next year or so. I'm still in school and the whole process is a little frightening, but your videos and lots of others have given me hope. For me, confidence is a big issue, and I'm very self- conscious of my bite, but seeing the end result and how happy you look definitely makes me want to go through with it! Thanks again!:)
Your so awesome I'm getting double JS this Fri and been avoiding the thought, but watching your videos is really helpful your so positive! Hope I have perfect teeth just like you(:
I have to make an decision if i'm doing the operation or not and i'm really scared of it... But when I see videos taken by people like you it gives me courage to do it !!
You look so great man !! So happy for you, i got the same problem as yours and im gonna find out on monday if im going to have a surgery thanks for posting all your videos its so inspiring ... More success to you !!
Hello about underbite jaw surgery.I will ask some questions about surgery.I will be happy if you answer my questions.I have underbite problem ,too.class 3.As a person had this surgery do you recommend it?I m very confused and afraid of surgery. As ı see ıt is very hard operation. Also, did you have pain after operation? And did you have difficulty to breath when your mounth was closed? And how long was you obligate to close your mouth?
absolutely loved your video, thank you man. My surgery will be like 5 or 6 months from now, so it's still a while. But time flies by right. I think I will keep watching more of your videos as the surgery comes closer. I bet I will be terrified some days before, but i know its for the best
When I googled Dr. Stephen Rimer your videos came up. I'm scheduled to see him on monday and am scared sh*tless about starting this process. Seeing your results make me feel confident about going to him...any reason i shouldn't? did you have any problems post op? thanks for any feedback
my surgeon said that it truly takes about a full year for it too heal i did not know that scared me a bit at first but i'm getting through it my dad calls me a trooper all the time
so right after 6 weeks you were able to eat normal food? Oooorrr does it depend on how your healing? same thing with talknig normal again lol
thankyou, im sure you uderstand how much this helps. 11 years in this long process and I get my braces put on this month, moulars and anchorage plates the following month then its the road to surgery!
Uh man, you made me cry at the end. I am looking forward to getting my surgery done. I need a 20mm advancement. Im located in fl as well. Anyways thanks a lot for your videos and your teeth and jaw look GREAT!!!
your teeth look awesome. Its been about 4 days since my surgury. Did the post-op elastics put your top jaw flush to your mouth like that or did the surgery merely do it. because my top jaw is still kinda slanted, and jagged but with these new elastics i think my top jaw will become straight like yours.
One of the best "after surgery" videos I've seen. You look and sound amazing and more importantly, very happy! Congrats. I'm 13 days post-op and am looking forward to the following months!
You look GREAT !! I will be having the exact same surgery in about a month. I'm so nervous, but your videos have helped sooth my worries.. I can't wait to have an over bite !!! woohoo
WOW you look GREAT!!! I've got a class 3 underbite with a cross bite and just found out today that I am ready for surgery. Thank you so much for posting your recovery. I'm a bit nervous as I sit here at 1am unable to get surgery out of my head. You look great and I think I can deal with this : ) I can't wait to have an over bite woohoo !!!
I'm deciding whether i should go about all this now.. i'm a bit older(24).. would have to go through all the braces/ rubber bands/ surgery.. etc.. might take years. plus don't know if i can afford it all..
Months ago I was wandering whether to do the surgery or not. I started to see videos on youtube... among all the videos I saw, yours were definitely the ones that made me decide to DO IT.
I'm still on pre-surgery phase (braces, teeth extractions etc), but just can't wait for my day.
As your videos and history meant a lot in my decision, I just had to come here to say: THANK YOU SO MUCH!
wow, you look great . I did my surgery before 12 weeks and i will remove the final wires after 4 days , thank gad.
the best thing of this opertation was lossing wieght, i lost 22 kg (from 90 kg to 68 ). my friends did not recognize me and first and thought i was my young brother :P
Hi Shaun, I'm from the UK and having this exact same surgery early 2010 although my bite is out by about 6mm (4mm upper 2 mm lower). Have been really nervous about the prospect of this procedure but your video blog has helped a lot so just wanted to say thanks and best of luck.
Well done. This video says it all....Great result. Yrs was the first video diary that i saw through the beggining of my journey, had my braces on now for a yr and am eagerly waiting the date of my surgery. Wot an inspiration you have been..Thankyou! Not sure if i will b posting videos of my journey but will definately do a stills compilation, can't believe how many people go through this kind of surgery, but thankyou for sharing yr journey, i'm sure it has helped many others too. All the best x
Omg!! this video is like perfect timing for me!! your vids are so helpful thanks so muchhh..you reallly have help me come through thiss..It's been three weeks since I had mine done..had it on july 20th!! I put up a b4 and after vid..u can checkk it out if you want.
I got the surgery six and a half weeks ago, so about a week ago I began chewing foods again. While it's nice to be eating again, my front teeth are somewhat sensitive, and they don't feel very strong ( I dont think I could bite through a carrot with them at all yet). I was wondering if you experienced this? and if you did, how long it took until you were confident that your front teeth were up to the challenge?
I had my lower jaw moved fwd, a few months after you, and have been following. I found chewing gum helped me gain some more muscles in my face back. After months and thinking all was fine, I chewed a piece of gum and looked like an idiot. Felt like I was frowning. But kept at it for a week or so and I was fine.
My surg wasn't nearly as intensive as yours so I'm glad you've had such great results!

Don't sweat it at all. Had mine in June of last year. Braces coming off in the next couple of months. DO IT. Have no fear it really is worth it.

Did your university insurance help you pay for surgery, or did you have a separate private insurance company?

Hey man I just watched all your videos! You look great! I just have a few quick questions...
1) Was your mouth "wired shut"?
2) Did they operate all on the outside of your mouth or on the inside? (Meaning did they make cuts on your face or in your mouth)
3) Did they put metal plates on your jaw? or was it just wired, like asked in number 1?
