People are really ignorant with their comments... comparing different styles to see which one is better. When in all actuality no one has a mutual respect for any of the various types of martial arts. People lack discipline which is why there is always continued bickering on who is better. A person who talks trash on other styles or forms of fighting really is not a very humble person. It shows the lack of character in one's self. Treat all martial arts with respect and dignity.
@EricGuitarlrd34 Too many that study MA just want to show off or get off on hurting ppl. Through mental focus, control and discipline comes humility because you know you could kill someone and do not seek confrontation. The dangerous ones only see the physical training and will use it instead of finding a peaceful resolution.
@RobZeroHero Because I appreciate both fighting styles. Through competition is how we improve ourselves. Taking in new ideas while respecting another's fighting style.
@EricGuitarlrd34 i agree, but technically kungfu is better, yes I agree its not the style but the user, but hey all styles originated in china "teen ha mo gung choot suew lum"
"all martial arts originated in shaolin" china is the birth place of martial arts. Been doing it before you whities knew what fisty cuffs was
@LAHrebirth No, the Chinese People learn from the Indian People, and mix it with there own experiences, than the Chinise teaching the Koreien, and the mix it up, and the Koreien teach the Japan, and the mix it up, that was the way of fighting arts.
I agree with you stranger....i've been a martial artists for 15 years and my main discipline is Wing Chun. I have found out over time that every martial art is different and every martial art is the same. There is not one martial art better than another. It all depends on the person using or applying the martial art. All martial arts are equal. People say that one is better simply because of how they use...and for the most part...they don't use it the right way.
Fajing or whatever is not going to help you explode upwards if the thai plum is secured firmly around your neck keeping your posture in check. The low round kick cannot be deflected with that particular kind of leg check if there is any kind of force behind it. I applaud the wing chun practitioner developing ideas to account for popular external styles of martial arts, but he needs to experience those techniques first hand from a real exponent to develop an effective defence.
@antant06 Very mature and logical response, I applaud you for differing from the usual mindless and thoughtless comments. The actual wing chun lineages that focus on the power through relaxation though, can generate tremendous power from pretty much any angle, which I have experienced personally.
I do agree that most chinese martial artists including wing chun masters are usually very close minded, studying other martial arts to learn how to deal with them is essential.
Ah, I see. When confronted by one who knows Muy Thai, you advance and reach for their ass as a form of flattery. When they are stunned by your boldness and have been thoroughly compliment, you then take the opportunity to dry hump their leg. Of course! It's all so simple now!
Fighting against a MT fighter is like fighting Mike Tyson. If they get one good hit on you, you will get knocked out. Unless you can end the fight very quickly, the MT fighter has the advantage because their powerful strikes. Of course you can go for submissions and takedowns, but unless you're fast you will get a knee in the face.
@uchio dont all martial arts teach u to be fast? why do people think muay thai is "stronger" kicks or strikes than other martial arts? muay thai seems like it swept the nation cause of ufc. ppl just like watching elbows and knees
@uchio The point of wing chun is to negate powerful strikes by hitting first in rapid succession. A powerful hit means nothing if you can't get it off in time, and Wing Chun's blocks are also incorporated into its offense. A hard hitting hook will be useless if its blocked and ten punches are thrown quickly to the nose, forehead, and chin before the MT fighter knows whats going on. The 1in. punch shows that you don't need to have huge strikes to be effective, just proper technique.
@zaiushko He's basically saying that MT using attacks in a straight line with very powerful strikes. So WC way to deal with it is to sidestep, misdirect MT attacks, and throw the other person off balance. The key is to not let the MT fighter control the distance and continually strike. Of course he still thinks that WC is better. He goes on to say that Chinese Kung-Fu uses softness to overcome strength. Personally I don't know. :)
Wing chung is useless, i went to a dojo here in las vegas called lomankam, and when i walked in there i saw two gay guys practicing this hog wash. just saying.
It only take 30 pounds of pressure to kill someone in 3 seconds. Just food for thought. Most people on youtube are just all talk and its as simple as that. The degree of idiocy I have observed on martial arts video is astronomical.
Muay Thai v Wing Chun..... Which would win? My guess is that it all depends on the student in question. No one martial art can say it's the best in the world. Sport martial arts is not the same as real life martial arts. I promise you the first guy to get a low kick to the other's knee will win the fight everytime. Break a knee fight over! Wing Chun is awesome I train in this but I am not stupid enough to say that makes me a better fighter. All arts have great abilities.
@MrAkitaDog YOUR STUPID A FIGHT IS NOT OVER WHEN KNEE IS BROKEN A REAL FIGHT IS OVER WHEN YOU KO OR DEATH THERE ARE MANY TRUE FIGHTERS WHO HAVE THE WILL TO FIGHT WITH A BROKEN KNEE!!!! MUAY THAI IS NOT AN ART ITS JUST LIKE STREET FIGHTING YOU LEARN NOTHING FROM THAT! AND TELL ME 1 WHO BREAK WITH 1 KICK A KNEE? I DONT THINK A MUAY THAY IDIOT XD
@iamnarutobelieveit first off a fight is over when the knee is broken period u cant even stand much less attack. second at the correct angle and placement a knee can be broken or put under severe stress that will end the fight in one kick
THOSE WHO FIGHT, TRY TO FIGHT AGAINST A SHAOLIN MONK WITH MANY YEARS OF TRAINING YOU WOULDN'T LAST A FUCKING SECOND, WHIT YOUR STUPID STREETFIGHTING TECHNICS JAJAJAJAJ YOU DICKS
But Wing Chun ain't "mystical' or "secretive" system. That shit is garbage and it does NOT work, even in the streets against experienced fighters. Those vertical chain punching, chi sao are a fucking joke and centerline theory keeps people narrow minded. It is very easy to play circles around their system, which is what many MMA, K-1, and any full contact competitions have shown and proved.
watch my video when I talk about "please respect all martial arts, they serve there purposes" also "idiots that falsely claim and try to defend chinese honor when they arn't even chinese themselves and make up moves that don't even work on takedowns to claim they are authentically doing kung fu" wtf are those people doing? they are insulting my heritage and making the style and themselves look bad, theres no such thing as a bad style, only bad martial artists that go on youtube.
people are clearly misunderstood, the only people that try to claim superiority saying their martial arts is one art beats all are dick headed biggots that are spouting lies, from where I come from I feel very offended when so called "white sifu's" claim that the style they teach, be it wing chun or w/e can counter all when history has shown it doesn't, no style should claim superiority over anything! because there is no perfect style, there is only MMA to fix the holes in purist styles.
I don't bash or insult arts just because it doesn't work on MMA. There are arts that don't work on MMA but I don't bash or insult, such as Tai Chi, Taekkyeon, Kalari, Silat, Lucha Libre, Capoeira, etc since they're practiced for healthiness or for cultural art purposes that distinguishes them. None of these arts claim their superiority or claim that they're too deadly to be in the ring, unlike arts such as Wing Chun, Krav Maga, Aikido, Ninjitsu(ninja training), etc.
Krav maga actually do have a right to claim superiority over mma. in term of the real life situation that is. In competition, Krav maga is useless. yes i agree any experience fighter will beat a krav maga practioner, that is because in competition, "rules" are holding back 99% of what the krav maga guy practices.
In real life situation, Krav maga is free to use weapons, groin kick, eye pokes, etc. all of what they are very comfortable to use/do. no point system, just survival.
@davistran510 Haha, As I said before, Gracie Challenge was no rule challenge where ANYONE, including "deadly" kung fu, krav maga, aikido, ninjas can come and test out their skills. It was NO RULES, NO CAGE, NO REFEREE match. Guess what? You pussies can't fight for shit against experienced fighters. And you talk as if groin kicks are easy to execute, eye pokes are easy to execute. You won't be able to pull those off against experienced MMA fighters.
@EdDy4RheelZ the only thing I agree with you is that, yes shit WC people that whine about their style handicapped due to restrictions of lethal strikes are indeed shitty martial artists that are not able to use what they have which allows safety to flow in the cage. those people that resort to dirty moves to win cannot call themselves a proper fighter. but at the same time your talking out of your arse and your doing alot of disrespecting for a MMA fighter
@EdDy4RheelZ Thats funny, Steven Segal put Anderson Silva on his ass for not punching quick enough after telling Silva to hit fast. He doesn't do this MMA shit, he primarily studies Akido, an art that nearly everyone considers useless. If you're a life long practicioner of a martial art, its not about being the best "fighter". Its a way of life for alot of people, not a competition to determine who's a better meathead athlete. Most martial arts = self defense; not sport.
@davistran510 haha, as I said before, Gracie Challenge had NO RULES, NO CAGE, NO REFEREE challenge where winner is awarded $100k. They invited everyone from ninjas, wing chunners, krav maga, etc. Guess who were the only threats to them that ever had a chance of beating them? People with strong kickboxing background where they also have decent ground game, such as Benny "The Jet" Urquidez. They didn't fear wing chun, krav maga idiots.
@EdDy4RheelZ yeah your talking about "fear", you realise the guy who tried WC at the original UFC 1 to 10 was shit, and no single purist style is capable of effectively handling the 3 elements of real combat or MMA being striking / clinch / ground
you call krav maga shit when they are not allowed any lethal strikes or bringing a gun or a knife to the cage, each style serve it's purposes and krav maga is not designed for the cage environment more so in war stricken countries like israel.
@EdDy4RheelZ I do gracie jiu jitsu, and I'm heavily offended by your comments, yes they did do the gracie challenge because in the gracie's system of jiu jitsu they are confident their system of BJJ can beat even opponents bigger than they are disregarding what striking style they did because BJJ is the ultimate ground art and of styles that can't do it, they AUTO lose to BJJ and that was in UFC 1-10 it was until later on it became MMA because people adopted multiple system to cover the holes
@davistran510 why are you comparing a military martial art versus a ring sport? it's like comparing apples and oranges? krav maga is for killing people, weapon disarms and weapon functionality
MMA is a string of multiple disciplines combined together to cover striking/clinch/ground the 3 elements of combat
if you did your research, you'd know that krav maga burrowed alot of material from other styles to integrate into what it is? if that's the case you HAVE to accept that it is also MMA
@EdDy4RheelZ I don't like it when people from WC, aikido and ninjitsu claim they are too deadly for the ring, as an excuse for shit WC fighters in the past trying to use their style in the cage and failed, ninjitsu fighers can't even beat judo fighters (theres a video on that) krav maga is too deadly in the ring, how effective can you fight as a MMA fighter against a mob of people? how about armed opponents? krav maga is not really designed for the ring, because it is comprised of dirty fighting
@EdDy4RheelZ if you lived in israel where everyday there's a possibility of a palestinian wanting to kill you because your who you are, don't you wish you knew krav maga? did you know every person boy or girl hit age of 18 they must learn krav maga and serve in the military? you haven't lived in a country where just about everyone has an assault rifle and RPG's
@EdDy4RheelZ pfft you say you don't bash or insult martial arts because it don't work on MMA, so what's all that stuff you were ranting about below about "idiot wc fighters" "stupid aikido" "shitty krav maga" what was all that below if u were not insulting them because they didn't work in MMA where every claim u made was based on the realm of MMA?
Why do some muay thai practitioners think that they're martial arts is the best, stop saying shit like 'oh try that against him, or against that' just leave them alone. Every martial arts is good in thier own way and if you learnt muay thai from a REAL instructor you'd be kicked out for saying shit like and disrespecting other martial arts and clubs
@ItsNuckChorris Muay Thai fighters don't think their art is the best simply because it lacks ground game. But why I do not tolerate as a Muay Thai practitioner is shit arts like wing chun, aikido, krav maga that cannot prove shit in any type of full contact sports but yet, claim its superiority over muay thai.
@EdDy4RheelZ It's the way Wing Chun is set up. Small, soft strikes that really serve little purpose except to stun, and then some form of finishing move that is meant to kill, or severely injure. Those finishing strikes are banned in full-contact sports, so on a sporting field, Wing Chun is reduced just to the small strikes, which, aside from their disorienting value and their small contact area (increasing pressure, but not with gloves on), are not particularly useful.
@ZomBLord That is such horse shit. Those so called "small soft strikes" can be done in full contact competitions such as MMA. MMA gloves allows them to use their hands and fingers too. MMA allows usage of fingers too since they're necessary for wrestling and grappling. Those "finishing strikes of WC" do not work against experienced fighters whose bodies are conditioned to take hits. It only works on noobs and dummies.
@ZomBLord finishing strikes? what are you guys on about? you know that a finishing strike could just be a punch to the face right? in the case of muay thai it could be any sort of move that results in injury or knock out, same goes for wing chun, why are you guys bickering over presumptuous claims like "finishing strikes this" and "blah blah that"?
@EdDy4RheelZ yeah the fact that your on about "small strikes" what are you implying? wing chun is a soft style in your opinion? what do you know of wing chun? lol lots of people using assumption to bicker at each other, you can also email me questions in regard to how wing chun and MMA should interact with each other... seriously
@ZomBLord small soft strikes? ... what do you know of wing chun? I've used wing chun for MMA before and in full contact sparring, how is wing chun reduced to small strikes? and I've done it with gloves on, you know what? why don't you email me your questions in regards to how styles and MMA interact with each other, and I'll do my best to answer your questions on a video>? this would stop the bickering once and for all and also done so with my research I got from last 5 years...?
@EdDy4RheelZ Striking arts like Muay Thai and Western Boxing, however, emphasize the punch, putting full force into that. The punch is legal, so, unless one abandons training, a MT/WB striker will always have more power in the ring.
However, Muay Thai is also somewhat weakened, due to the inability to strike with the elbow, one of your discipline's strongest weapons.
So a boxer, who only hones skills that are legal, will not have the same handicap that other arts have.
@ZomBLord By this speech, it's very clear that you don't know anything about Muay Thai. Muay Thai allows elbowing and kneeing. It's the major concept of Muay Thai that differentiates them from Japanese kickboxing and American kickboxing. Usage of elbow of knees is their main signature of the art.
@EdDy4RheelZ I know that elbows and knees are the signature of the art. I said that they are illegal in most sport competitions, so you're handicapped against Western Boxing. This doesn't mean Western Boxing is in any way superior to Muay Thai, it just means they can use their full capacity, where you cannot.
@ZomBLord I never stated or implied anything about western boxing or muay thai being superior to each other. As I stated in the past, from my experience of street fighting, ring fighting, and watching others fight, only type of fighters I respect are those who have strong background and experience in kickboxing type, such as boxing, muay thai, sanshou, savate, kyokushin kumite, or wrestling/grappling type background, such as bjj, sambo, judo, greco-roman, shuai jiao, ssireum, etc.
@EdDy4RheelZ in other words your talking about MMA? why has nobody in this string of arguments mention anything about MMA when MMA is the answer to you two's bickering?
@ZomBLord Look at Buakaw Por Pramuk and Alistair Overeem. They're Muay Thai fighters. They don't make excuses and they enter K-1 regardless of elbows not being allowed in K-1. They can hold their own and they're successful regardless of restrictions. Good fighters don't make excuses and great fighters scavenge for challenges and fights to toughen themselves up and are willing to follow any rules to compete and prove themselves.
@EdDy4RheelZ I'm perfectly aware of that. I wasn't insulting your discipline, merely stating that it was slightly more impeded in the ring than just plain old boxing. You're very defensive; I rather like Muay Thai, and I think it's a very good system. I just don't think it's inherently superior to any other style.
@HomasterX That's impossible. There will always be fighting styles designed to work within the rules that are more effective than styles designed outside of the rules.
A multiple opponent brawl makes BJJ a bad idea, hand boxing deprives Muay Thai of their powerful low kicks, knees and elbows, the various eye-gouges, face and throat ripping of Hung Gar are banned in legal competition, the light, low-area punches of WC are useless with any kind of padded gloves... the list goes on.
Winning concept currently seems to be Muay Thai (stand-up), Wrestling (take downs), Brazilian Jiu Jitsu(ground combat). With the brilliant exception of Fedor Emilianenko (Best MMA fighter ever) who used Sambo (russian army combat) mainly and Judo as backup.

EricGuitarlrd34 2 weeks ago 43
@EricGuitarlrd34 Too many that study MA just want to show off or get off on hurting ppl. Through mental focus, control and discipline comes humility because you know you could kill someone and do not seek confrontation. The dangerous ones only see the physical training and will use it instead of finding a peaceful resolution.

I applaud the wing chun practitioner developing ideas to account for popular external styles of martial arts, but he needs to experience those techniques first hand from a real exponent to develop an effective defence.
antant06 2 weeks ago
@antant06 Very mature and logical response, I applaud you for differing from the usual mindless and thoughtless comments. The actual wing chun lineages that focus on the power through relaxation though, can generate tremendous power from pretty much any angle, which I have experienced personally.
I do agree that most chinese martial artists including wing chun masters are usually very close minded, studying other martial arts to learn how to deal with them is essential.

Fighting against a MT fighter is like fighting Mike Tyson. If they get one good hit on you, you will get knocked out. Unless you can end the fight very quickly, the MT fighter has the advantage because their powerful strikes. Of course you can go for submissions and takedowns, but unless you're fast you will get a knee in the face.
uchio 3 weeks ago
@uchio dont all martial arts teach u to be fast? why do people think muay thai is "stronger" kicks or strikes than other martial arts? muay thai seems like it swept the nation cause of ufc. ppl just like watching elbows and knees
Shanksor88 3 weeks ago

Those vertical chain punching, chi sao are a fucking joke and centerline theory keeps people narrow minded. people are clearly misunderstood, the only people that try to claim superiority saying their martial arts is one art beats all are dick headed biggots that are spouting lies, from where I come from I feel very offended when so called "white sifu's" claim that the style they teach, be it wing chun or w/e can counter all when history has shown it doesn't, no style should claim superiority over anything! because there is no perfect style, there is only MMA to fix the holes in purist styles.

Lifeisgood8899 1 month ago
I don't bash or insult arts just because it doesn't work on MMA. There are arts that don't work on MMA but I don't bash or insult, such as Tai Chi, Taekkyeon, Kalari, Silat, Lucha Libre, Capoeira, etc since they're practiced for healthiness or for cultural art purposes that distinguishes them. None of these arts claim their superiority or claim that they're too deadly to be in the ring, unlike arts such as Wing Chun, Krav Maga, Aikido, Ninjitsu(ninja training), etc.
EdDy4RheelZ 1 month ago
@EdDy4RheelZ
Krav maga actually do have a right to claim superiority over mma. in term of the real life situation that is. In competition, Krav maga is useless. yes i agree any experience fighter will beat a krav maga practioner, that is because in competition, "rules" are holding back 99% of what the krav maga guy practices.
In real life situation, Krav maga is free to use weapons, groin kick, eye pokes, etc. all of what they are very comfortable to use/do. no point system, just survival.
davistran510 1 month ago
@davistran510 Haha, As I said before, Gracie Challenge was no rule challenge where ANYONE, including "deadly" kung fu, krav maga, aikido, ninjas can come and test out their skills. It was NO RULES, NO CAGE, NO REFEREE match. Guess what? You pussies can't fight for shit against experienced fighters. And you talk as if groin kicks are easy to execute, eye pokes are easy to execute. You won't be able to pull those off against experienced MMA fighters.
EdDy4RheelZ 1 month ago
@EdDy4RheelZ the only thing I agree with you is that, yes shit WC people that whine about their style handicapped due to restrictions of lethal strikes are indeed shitty martial artists that are not able to use what they have which allows safety to flow in the cage. those people that resort to dirty moves to win cannot call themselves a proper fighter. but at the same time your talking out of your arse and your doing alot of disrespecting for a MMA fighter
HomasterX 1 month ago
@EdDy4RheelZ Thats funny, Steven Segal put Anderson Silva on his ass for not punching quick enough after telling Silva to hit fast. He doesn't do this MMA shit, he primarily studies Akido, an art that nearly everyone considers useless. If you're a life long practicioner of a martial art, its not about being the best "fighter". Its a way of life for alot of people, not a competition to determine who's a better meathead athlete. Most martial arts = self defense; not sport.
CarsGunsBooze 2 weeks ago
@davistran510 haha, as I said before, Gracie Challenge had NO RULES, NO CAGE, NO REFEREE challenge where winner is awarded $100k. They invited everyone from ninjas, wing chunners, krav maga, etc. Guess who were the only threats to them that ever had a chance of beating them? People with strong kickboxing background where they also have decent ground game, such as Benny "The Jet" Urquidez. They didn't fear wing chun, krav maga idiots.
EdDy4RheelZ 1 month ago
@EdDy4RheelZ yeah your talking about "fear", you realise the guy who tried WC at the original UFC 1 to 10 was shit, and no single purist style is capable of effectively handling the 3 elements of real combat or MMA being striking / clinch / ground
you call krav maga shit when they are not allowed any lethal strikes or bringing a gun or a knife to the cage, each style serve it's purposes and krav maga is not designed for the cage environment more so in war stricken countries like israel.
HomasterX 1 month ago
@EdDy4RheelZ I do gracie jiu jitsu, and I'm heavily offended by your comments, yes they did do the gracie challenge because in the gracie's system of jiu jitsu they are confident their system of BJJ can beat even opponents bigger than they are disregarding what striking style they did because BJJ is the ultimate ground art and of styles that can't do it, they AUTO lose to BJJ and that was in UFC 1-10 it was until later on it became MMA because people adopted multiple system to cover the holes
HomasterX 1 month ago
@davistran510 why are you comparing a military martial art versus a ring sport? it's like comparing apples and oranges? krav maga is for killing people, weapon disarms and weapon functionality
MMA is a string of multiple disciplines combined together to cover striking/clinch/ground the 3 elements of combat
if you did your research, you'd know that krav maga burrowed alot of material from other styles to integrate into what it is? if that's the case you HAVE to accept that it is also MMA
HomasterX 1 month ago
@EdDy4RheelZ I don't like it when people from WC, aikido and ninjitsu claim they are too deadly for the ring, as an excuse for shit WC fighters in the past trying to use their style in the cage and failed, ninjitsu fighers can't even beat judo fighters (theres a video on that) krav maga is too deadly in the ring, how effective can you fight as a MMA fighter against a mob of people? how about armed opponents? krav maga is not really designed for the ring, because it is comprised of dirty fighting
HomasterX 1 month ago
@EdDy4RheelZ if you lived in israel where everyday there's a possibility of a palestinian wanting to kill you because your who you are, don't you wish you knew krav maga? did you know every person boy or girl hit age of 18 they must learn krav maga and serve in the military? you haven't lived in a country where just about everyone has an assault rifle and RPG's
HomasterX 1 month ago
@EdDy4RheelZ pfft you say you don't bash or insult martial arts because it don't work on MMA, so what's all that stuff you were ranting about below about "idiot wc fighters" "stupid aikido" "shitty krav maga" what was all that below if u were not insulting them because they didn't work in MMA where every claim u made was based on the realm of MMA?
HomasterX 1 month ago
Why do some muay thai practitioners think that they're martial arts is the best, stop saying shit like 'oh try that against him, or against that' just leave them alone. Every martial arts is good in thier own way and if you learnt muay thai from a REAL instructor you'd be kicked out for saying shit like and disrespecting other martial arts and clubs
ItsNuckChorris 1 month ago
@ItsNuckChorris Muay Thai fighters don't think their art is the best simply because it lacks ground game. But why I do not tolerate as a Muay Thai practitioner is shit arts like wing chun, aikido, krav maga that cannot prove shit in any type of full contact sports but yet, claim its superiority over muay thai.
EdDy4RheelZ 1 month ago
@EdDy4RheelZ It's the way Wing Chun is set up. Small, soft strikes that really serve little purpose except to stun, and then some form of finishing move that is meant to kill, or severely injure. Those finishing strikes are banned in full-contact sports, so on a sporting field, Wing Chun is reduced just to the small strikes, which, aside from their disorienting value and their small contact area (increasing pressure, but not with gloves on), are not particularly useful.
ZomBLord 1 month ago
@ZomBLord That is such horse shit. Those so called "small soft strikes" can be done in full contact competitions such as MMA. MMA gloves allows them to use their hands and fingers too. MMA allows usage of fingers too since they're necessary for wrestling and grappling. Those "finishing strikes of WC" do not work against experienced fighters whose bodies are conditioned to take hits. It only works on noobs and dummies.
EdDy4RheelZ 1 month ago
@EdDy4RheelZ "Those 'finishing strikes of WC'" are the exact same ones as the ones in Muay Thai...
The damage done by the light strikes comes from the small contact area (sometimes just one knuckle). The gloves increase contact area.
And I never said anything about fingers... dunno where you got that idea from.
ZomBLord 1 month ago
@ZomBLord finishing strikes? what are you guys on about? you know that a finishing strike could just be a punch to the face right? in the case of muay thai it could be any sort of move that results in injury or knock out, same goes for wing chun, why are you guys bickering over presumptuous claims like "finishing strikes this" and "blah blah that"?
HomasterX 1 month ago
@EdDy4RheelZ yeah the fact that your on about "small strikes" what are you implying? wing chun is a soft style in your opinion? what do you know of wing chun? lol lots of people using assumption to bicker at each other, you can also email me questions in regard to how wing chun and MMA should interact with each other... seriously
HomasterX 1 month ago
@ZomBLord small soft strikes? ... what do you know of wing chun? I've used wing chun for MMA before and in full contact sparring, how is wing chun reduced to small strikes? and I've done it with gloves on, you know what? why don't you email me your questions in regards to how styles and MMA interact with each other, and I'll do my best to answer your questions on a video>? this would stop the bickering once and for all and also done so with my research I got from last 5 years...?
HomasterX 1 month ago
@EdDy4RheelZ Striking arts like Muay Thai and Western Boxing, however, emphasize the punch, putting full force into that. The punch is legal, so, unless one abandons training, a MT/WB striker will always have more power in the ring.
However, Muay Thai is also somewhat weakened, due to the inability to strike with the elbow, one of your discipline's strongest weapons.
So a boxer, who only hones skills that are legal, will not have the same handicap that other arts have.
ZomBLord 1 month ago
@ZomBLord By this speech, it's very clear that you don't know anything about Muay Thai. Muay Thai allows elbowing and kneeing. It's the major concept of Muay Thai that differentiates them from Japanese kickboxing and American kickboxing. Usage of elbow of knees is their main signature of the art.
EdDy4RheelZ 1 month ago
@EdDy4RheelZ I know that elbows and knees are the signature of the art. I said that they are illegal in most sport competitions, so you're handicapped against Western Boxing. This doesn't mean Western Boxing is in any way superior to Muay Thai, it just means they can use their full capacity, where you cannot.
ZomBLord 1 month ago
@ZomBLord I never stated or implied anything about western boxing or muay thai being superior to each other. As I stated in the past, from my experience of street fighting, ring fighting, and watching others fight, only type of fighters I respect are those who have strong background and experience in kickboxing type, such as boxing, muay thai, sanshou, savate, kyokushin kumite, or wrestling/grappling type background, such as bjj, sambo, judo, greco-roman, shuai jiao, ssireum, etc.
EdDy4RheelZ 1 month ago
@EdDy4RheelZ I think it's just a bad idea to judge styles at all. It really just comes down to whether someone can fight or not.
ZomBLord 1 month ago
@ZomBLord exactly, thats the most sensible thing anyone can say
HomasterX 1 month ago
@EdDy4RheelZ in other words your talking about MMA? why has nobody in this string of arguments mention anything about MMA when MMA is the answer to you two's bickering?
HomasterX 1 month ago
@ZomBLord Look at Buakaw Por Pramuk and Alistair Overeem. They're Muay Thai fighters. They don't make excuses and they enter K-1 regardless of elbows not being allowed in K-1. They can hold their own and they're successful regardless of restrictions. Good fighters don't make excuses and great fighters scavenge for challenges and fights to toughen themselves up and are willing to follow any rules to compete and prove themselves.
EdDy4RheelZ 1 month ago
@EdDy4RheelZ I'm perfectly aware of that. I wasn't insulting your discipline, merely stating that it was slightly more impeded in the ring than just plain old boxing. You're very defensive; I rather like Muay Thai, and I think it's a very good system. I just don't think it's inherently superior to any other style.
ZomBLord 1 month ago
@EdDy4RheelZ yeah you say that yet you belittle martial arts, arn't you quite the hypocrit?
HomasterX 1 month ago
@ZomBLord ever thought of making fair competition using MMA rules?
HomasterX 1 month ago
@HomasterX That's impossible. There will always be fighting styles designed to work within the rules that are more effective than styles designed outside of the rules.
A multiple opponent brawl makes BJJ a bad idea, hand boxing deprives Muay Thai of their powerful low kicks, knees and elbows, the various eye-gouges, face and throat ripping of Hung Gar are banned in legal competition, the light, low-area punches of WC are useless with any kind of padded gloves... the list goes on.
ZomBLord 1 month ago
