  • I haven't played my flute for over 15 years, after having played it for 13 years. Even having a small scholarship for my playing, there was no way I was ever this good at 10 years old. Emma, you are an extremely gifted, talented young lady. I applaud your artistry and I wish you well in your musical endeavors. I may just have to dust my flute off after watching this. ;)

  • @jrlomy2k Thank you so much!!! I hope very much you get back to playing your flute!!! Have fun!!! --Emma

  • 艾玛 你吹的真棒,当你吹卡门的时候 我刚学长笛1个月 现在你吹的更棒了 我们做个朋友吧 我的英文不好

  • I just started the flute a few months ago, even though I'm an adult (I played clarinet all my life but wanted to try flute), and watching your videos is really inspiring, you're so good and so young! May music bring you many adventures in life. I'm curious, what songs are your favorite to play, just for fun or for a challenge? I'd like to try them too!

  • @jeshika22 Hi, Thanks!!! It's great you're learning the flute!!! When I want to do something just for fun I take out the book Flute Music by French Composers. It's all super fun and super flutey. Flute World sells it. Have fun!!!

    --Emma

  • Very fine playing, just watch that you aren't moving too much! My flute teacher is after that for me as well, it actually takes a little bit away from the performance, and I can't imagine that it's easy on the arms-use the energy for playing! Other than that, great job.

  • @MusikGirl23 Hi, Thanks for watching!!! It's great you play the flute too!!!

    --Emma

  • I am amazed par your sound, very pure, and by this interpretation... All the best for your carreer! ;)

    keep making music!- blueberrycakecz

  • @blueberrycakecz Hi, Thanks!!! I homeschool so that makes it a little easier to have time. But I get really busy too and I just make time. But if you do 2 hours thats really good.

Thanks again for watching and being so nice!!! Have fun playing your music!!!

    --Emma

  • Fabulous!

  • Wow, I've been using your videos for references! Most recently this song and M. Ravel's Habanera! I'm in college now and you're inspiring me to keep on becoming great. :) Best of luck to you, I do hope you continue with flute for the rest of your life. You have some special talent miss Emma. :)

    --Emma

  • Nice music.

  • Did you perform this in a church? I know that's a random question but I just thought it looked like one. Your performance was amazing, love the dress too!

  • @WorldofGino Hi, Yah it was in a church. They were really nice to have the concert there. The sound was terrific and it was a concert to help the people of Japan!

    Thanks for watching!!!

    --Emma

  • @GeoRockMin It was very nice of you to use your amazing talent to help the less fortunate!

  • @GeoRockMin I hope so to and if it able to be recorded it would be wonderful to see. I'm auditioning for University

  • Have you played the G major Concerto? I'm working on that now for Auditions and the like. I played the 3rd movement of this concerto last year though not nearly as well as you played it I'm sure :).

  • @MrMatthewLee Hi, Yes I played the G Major but no recording allowed. And I'm playing the whole D Major in November with an orchestra. Hopefully recording is allowed!!! What are you auditioning for?? Good luck!!!

    --Emma

  • Wow, you play amazingly! I really hope you pursue music because, you are WONDERFUL! • @fluteninja113 Hi, Thanks for watching!!! I'm playing the whole concerto with orchestra in the fall so I'm hoping my mom can record it. Have fun at college!!! --Emma

  • Emma, you did a great job! Thanks for trying to help the tsunami victims. It's my favorite Mozart flute movement.. Have fun playing it in with the orchestra. The G 3rd movement then G 1st are my other favorites. I'll look for those in your library Your tone is great as usual and your playing is continuing to grow. It's neat seeing the history of your growth in your videos.

  • Emma, you are an amazing player for flute. I play the flute as well but not as good as you. All the performances you've done are just so brilliant! And i was just wondering, are you planning to study flute for the rest of your life? :)

  • @yetiXDD Hi, Thanks!!! It's great you play the flute too!!! I know I'll play the flute my whole life. I hope I'll always find people who want to listen. --Emma

  • @GeoRockMin I'm sorry I just voted down on your comment by accident! You are amazing, and have a great musical future ahead of you!

  • Hi, congratulations on the stunning performance!! I was just curious to know if you're going to do concert band in middle school, because of the difference there would be in skill between you and the beginning players -- I could understand if you waited until high school to begin school band.

  • @lebriae Hi, Thanks!!! I don't know about middle school yet. I still have 1 more year of elementary school. Thanks again for watching!!! --Emma

  • I can really understand all the applause for your stunning performance..(and also the pianist of course)..and a good cause also, must be hard for the Japanese people in the area of the tsunami, most people were not rich.

  • @karpov89 Hi, Thanks for watching!!! Yah it's so so sad what happened in Japan. Life is very hard but the people are very brave. I'm happy my music helped a little bit. --Emma

  • Simply wonderful as usual. Congratulations on an amazing performance! What kind of daily studies do you practice? And I know it might be early to think of but where would you like to study flute after high school?

  • @flutemage2007 Hi, Thanks!!! I alternate all the usual books - T&G, Baker studies, Maquarre, Moyse, Gilbert. Lots of Anderson etudes, I can't believe how many he wrote. Just the usual stuff. I don't know about college yet cause I'm still in elementary school, but it might be fun to go to France or something like that maybe, but I don't know.

    --Emma

  • Amazing cadenza.

    --Emma

  • @AmazingTatiana Hi, Thanks for watching!!! I have a Powell Conservatory flute. I love it!!!

    --Emma

  • Hi, Emma! The Red Dress is very nice; but I am a fan of yours now. Anyone who loves what they do so much, and shows it, gets my admiration. 'sides, you DO have beautiful tone, etc. But the 'cherry on top' is that you show that love in the music. Thanks for that. Its the difference between 'technically good' and 'great'- and when I see that, I remember why I love music, too.

  • @Jumpnswing :) :) !!! --Emma

  • Emma, you rock girl!!! Hey have you ever heard of Nina Perlove? She is a fantastic flutist and has her own website and you tube channel too. Check her out. Keep strong. Take care, Candy :)

  • Brava Emma, and thank you for loving the flute and proving that Female American daughters can be musical genius's too!! Great that you did a relief benefit for Japan's victims! Are you playing with a Powell headjoint too? what year is your Powell? I bought a 1982 Powell from Janet Ferguson, who played it in the L.A. Phil for 22 yrs. with a Lafin Headjoint 15% gold - It gives it more punch! Is yours a drawn or saudered tone hole? c# trill key? heavy or light wall?

  • @FlutingAway Hi, Thanks!!! I still have my beautiful Powell and love love love it!!! I have a Powell headjoint too. It's 3 or 4 years old and has a c# trill key. Have fun playing your flute!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Amazing! I think you should post a video about some of the techniques and exercises you practice.

  • I sound like this now, but I'm 23, not 10. Meaning: I should probably just put away my flute, because the time you're my age, you'll probably have a degree from Julliard, Curtis, and Paris Conservatory, and I'll be getting whatever scraps you leave behind. :-p

Basically, you're really gonna be an amazing flutist one day. I look forward to seeing you blossom!

Beautiful cadenza, btw. And I love your octaves. Beautiful!

  • @miamigurl123 Thanks!!! --Emma

  • me=jealous.... AWESOME JOB! =)

  • @pennsylvaniaflutist Hi Ms McK, I'm so happy to get a note from you!!! I still have the bear you gave me and the Heinz Field sign. My Mom says Hi and we hope to see you again!!! --Emma

  • Wow wow wow! Just when it seems there is no room for improvement you blow me away!!! When you play it looks effortless. And your tone.... so sweet. Love love love it! So happy to see a new video!

  • amazing performance :) i love your tone, it is so pretty!

  • Finally a new video! As already commented, you look so much older! And your playing keeps getting better and better! You almost literally shine! You look sooo comfortable on stage, and you look so free. I can't wait to see more of you!

Keep on playing(hopefully you don't need my encouragement, though ;-) )

    Sigrid
