  • sorry about trolls, had one to many experiences with them...... btw nice vid! i have yet to catch cn or cp!

  • Those EMD's sounded so good! Love hearing them in Run 8!! Where is Valpo Hill? Would love to go railfanning there.

  • Go CN, my Dad and my uncle and aunt, and my grandpa all worked for CN

  • my brother would love this video, i wouldn't know the difference between ad SD-40-2 and Dash 9 if it wasn't for him, he knows all the engines from the olden-day steam to the new age diesel and electric

  • Love that sound! The sound of pure, raw, ((POWER!!)) :-D

  • Looks like it's time CN needs to give 5244 a paint job, and the other two need a bath.

  • in 96 here in New Hampshire 3 Guilford GP-40s pulled over a 100 car's and they sounded loud.

  • I seen some comments here about a tripod. And they are right, but indeed a tripod take some time to setup. If you photograph with a consumer camera up to 2,5 kilo (5.5lbs) one can also try a monopod. Lighter in weight, much faster to setup and easy to transport. Also it is much more friendly to you wallet. When you need to move fast, you grab the monopod with camera and walk away. Just poke it in the ground and youre ready for the next shot. And far better results wil be in youre next video.

  • 10,000 tons for ten thousand feet! Thats what it sounds like here in Stuarts Draft,Va.when Norfolk and Southern drags these heavy trains thru our mountains.Either way you go level or hilly POWER is a must!

  • why not get a tri-pod?? would be soooo much easier to watch!

  • @paranoid19851 for sure!!

  • Sweet catch Austin! Thawt Dash 9 looks like Bryce's CN in HO scale. Nice coweled unit also.

  • how much hp is in one of the trains

  • @wolfs22 The first loco has 4400 and the other two 3000 a piece. Total on this lash up would be 10,400

  • I think I can I think can I think I can.

  • lovely sound

  • @EWS60500 thank you!

  • Who cares, if it's shaky, it's awesome!

  • @ChorderHael Thank you!!

  • the maintainer needs to fix his gate lights.

  • Train: *Grunts and groans as it carries cars*

  • did the second unit get in a fight with white out????

  • That 5244 is really uglyyy!!!

  • Great sound, great location and terrific subject. Next time if you can brace yourself against a post or elbows on a car hood...otherwise a great piece of railfanning, thank-you

  • @soulfulllee Thanks!!! I will keep that in mind next time. Thanks for the comment!

  • @SkyhawkACE123 Or get a tripod

  • @trainmasta227 or STFU because I didnt have a tripod

  • @SkyhawkACE123 JESUS BOI It was a suggestion that the guy didnt mention......

  • @trainmasta227 Oh sorry dude I thought you were one of the haters. This is my most hated video. I guess some people like to argue about the GE vs EMD thing one this video and the fact that this video isnt perfect, once again sorry.

  • @SkyhawkACE123 Ive had some shakey vids to. Most of em were i either i forgot the tripod at home or i didnt have time to set it up

  • @trainmasta227 Thats the same here. I often find my bad videos in the same situation lol

  • way too shaky ... buy a tripod dude

  • @mbw1001 I didnt have one when i took this video.

  • @suffo222 Sorry i ran a mile to get a video, and btw FUCK OFF

  • @suffo222 Win.

  • @suffo222 Hey you sick SOB my friend has parkinson's & it's not funny. It's called he did not have time to set-up a tri-pod or he did not have one. Your rude

  • @UP5140SD70M hahahaha

  • is that a k3hl

  • @mjet401bnsf no its a K3L. learn your horns

  • A bit underpowered.

  • *honk* WERE COMMING *HONK *I SWEAR WERE COMMING* *HONK HONK* SEE ALMOST THERE

  • @TheRealSergentSiler hahahahahahahahahaha nice!!!!

  • Canadian National C44-9W #2527 SD40-2W #5244 and SD40-2 #5382

  • The SD40-2 is much like the American Class 4-4-0 steam loco. So successful, the production went on for years. Although EMD didn't come close to the 92 years the steamer did on a single model ;)

  • SDs sound better than a Microwave oven GE

  • Cool! I saw a CN SD70ACE and a CN SD70 on NS frieght the other day. They were also accompanied by an NS SD60, A NS SD40-2 and an NS DASH9-40cw!

  • @trainmandan05 CN doesn't have any SD70ACe's

  • Oh, look! Those old EMDs are pushing that -9 right down the rail!

  • Yeah!!!!

    Thats whats really going on!

    The 9 is dead weight!

  • @SkyhawkACE123 boy ain't that the truth nice vid man

  • CN SD40-2 nice catch! I onyl see the -2w's nowadays.

  • yeah they are rare these days

  • nice

  • I'm glab you liked the video!

  • He hated the video, and he's an ass to think that way. We all have diffrerent interests. I think the video is great!

  • Thank you

  • 2008, a hundred bucks says your a scrawny little shit hiding behind a computer screen. Anonymity tempts people to say the darnedest things.

  • Why'd you watch it then?

  • Wicked cool video man, thanks for sharing!

  • Thanks!!

  • Man, love those units in run 8--those SD-40-2's were the Chevy Impalas of the railroad!! Those 645's ran like Chevy 350's.

  • Now thats the sound of music! Nothin cant beat the sound of hard working 645 prime movers with a GEVO V12 thrown in.

  • I know that the B30-7's are still around the CSX fleet, but im talking about the 6-axle series Dash-7, where did they go?

Oh thats right, the scrappers torch

  • The SD40-2's have been around way longer than the B30-7's. They are much more of a success than the B30-7's. The amount of sales that EMD enjoyed compared to the GE product speakes for itself. They are starting to retire them do to their age and make room for the new locomotives. No locomotive will last forever. The SD40-2 is probably the best loco ever produced.

  • UP didn't retire their SD9043MAC's. They are still in use. I think what you are refering to is the SD90MAC-H (the ones constructed using the 16V265H engines). The SD9043MAC's were built as "convertibles" utilizing the very reliable and robust "710" engine.

  • Actually the SD9043MAC's are very reliable and are still in use today. They have the 710 engine in them and not the 16V265H engine. When these locomotives were constructed with the 16V265H engines (SD90MAC-H) is when there were problems and reliability issues.

  • Ok, when did EMD come out with the SD50, GP50 series......about the same time GE was selling the Dash-7's. Tell me 1 class 1 railroad that has a C30-7 or U30C. All gone im afrade......on the other hand, CSX and NS arnt getting ride of their SD50's just de-rating them. Their still excellent locomotivs, so they wont get ride of them, and how about NS with the GP50, still a good locomotive, but just being rebuilt to last another 10 or 15 years.

  • because the SD0943MAC's where an experament with a newly designed 6000h.p. engine, and UP didn;t like it, all the UP AC6000CW's have been retired or have new 4400 prime movers.

  • You are correct skyhawk. UP wasn't satisfied with both either EMD's 6000 horsepower engine nor GE's. In fact, I read that GE actually sued Duetz ( the original designer of the HDL) for not succeeding in correcting the problems in the time that they had promised. As a result GE lost sales due to reliability issues.

  • just cuz there cheaper....EMD's last longer

when was the last time you saw a C30-7 of B23-7, SD40-2's where made about the same time and they operate on evey class 1 railroad today

  • Those emd units are on their fucking Knees pulling that train. That Ge is just dead weight.

  • No kidding!

  • Comment removed

  • Nothin Can Beats The Sound of a SD40 !

  • or any 16-645!

  • V16 645F

  • Nice video!

*Add CN playlist and 5 rating!

  • yes those emd's sound great on the outside, but those ge's are far more comfortable and quieter to ride in than those sd-40's. ive seen train crews throw a fit when the head end is an sd-40 and the engine trailing behind it is a newer ac-4400 or whatever.

  • Very good. Too bad those SD's wasn't leading, instead of GE's piece of junk.

  • AMEN!!!!

I hate all those damn GE's. They all sound the same and look stupid. If your ganna run a train, I would rather run the crapiest EMD loco around than a piece of junk GE made crap!

EMD rules, and sounds the best!

  • Agreed. It's a same, that EMD doesn't make the SD40/SD40-2 anymore.

  • Yes. But over all i would want to see an SD38. They sound great and look cool. but if we are talking new locomotives, i would say an SD70ACe/SD70M-2

  • I'd rather have the GE up front as far as crew comfort goes.

  • Easy now, not all GE's are bad! XD

  • No, no...i LOVE the C39-8 and C40-8, i just like EMD more

  • Nuthin' like the sound of a 645 notching up! =D

  • wheel slip noise???

    r they slipping?

  • Yea, that is the sound of wheelslip ;/

  • awsome were is that ?

  • Valparaiso, Indiana
