  • only in asia....

  • Look at your life! Look at your choices!!

  • jesus christmas they are outstanding i didnt even know what a trill was in elementary school... :(

  • amazing!!!! woo go korean kids

  • Simply outstanding - What a privilege to see these amazing Elementary School bands in Korea and Japan produce the next generation of brilliant musicians. Congratulations to the JinJoo JoongAhn Elementary School in Korea, the students in this ensemble, the conductor and South Korea. You all are a Class of Your Own - Absolutely Brilliant. I pray that Peace descends upon the Korean Peninsular and that Music continues to soothe our Troubled World. Keep up the Brilliant Work.

  • Nice playing. Enjoy it it while you can, music is slowly being phased out in Korea to focus on academics, they are running out of ways to sort people for university entrance so the evening is spent at hagwan mostly (study places). This increases rote academic capability but they are becoming quite unbalanced. Talented individuals will follow tracks such as science, language and music, so this may keep it alive, but music for the masses may end one day. This will eventually hurt the country.

  • Im gonna dislike the ones who dislike it, like if they know so much about music

  • Wow america needs to step up!

  • theyre even rocking to the beat... amazing

  • Why are they expected to play so well so early? Do they go into music as a profession? Just wondering, since in America the music ed system is so vastly different

  • Keep in mind none of them are looking at music.

  • LOOK MA! NO MUSIC!!

  • I hate American bands......

  • OMG LOOK AT THE CYMBAL PLAYER!

  • OMG LOOK AT THE CYMBAL PLAYER!

  • Maybe if my high school wind ensemble were this good when I was a freshman, my mom would have actually come to my concerts.

  • Maybe if my high school wind ensemble were this good when I was a freshman, my mom would have actually come to my concerts.

  • I didn't learn how to play the reccorder until 6th grade T_T

  • And no music stands=memorized. America?

  • Blue Devils. o.o

  • @VerySnowy what?

  • beautiful oboe tone...

  • 감동과 함께 충격적이다. 아이들의 연주가 저토록 수준 높은줄은 꿈에도 상상도 못했다.

  • 트럼펫 솔로하는 여자애가 박고은 아닌가?

  • No music, and as good as my high school band. WOW!!

  • @beaufortboy198876 thats what i was gonna say. i was like WTF THE KID ON THE TROMBONE HAS NO MUSIC?!?!?! but nonetheless, these kids make me look like I dont know how to play my tbone. D]:

  • wow John Williams Olympics incidental music!!!

  • @timinator456 what right you have to say that at least they're better talented then you are

  • Lol mine too!

  • That are Con-Kids!!

There is no freakin' way kids can play like that!!!! Unfair x[

  • well played and memorized.

  • That trumpet girl is so amazing! I love how she's able to blend so easily with the other instruments when neccessary.

  • these kids are better than my HIGH school's wind ensemble....

  • @ToxicFart92 ...And subsequently do worse later on in life...

  • @ToxicFart92 Says the person with the username ToxicFart92. Atleast make your troll posts somewhat funny.

  • @TedWang2 says the person with the username TedWang2. wtf is a tedwang.

    ujelly?

  • @TedWang2 wait what were we argueing about again. oh well. but they are show off drama queens for boys and drama kings for girls lololololol

  • @TedWang2 korean are funny when they have to, but when they achieve they take it on heart

  • @ToxicFart92 How do you know these kids don't think this is fun?

  • @ToxicFart92 not too much free to play you know, is because they want to do their best in achieve their dream , not like most americans

  • Guys this piece of music seems advanced but it's very simple..... They don't play together, they play alone

  • @CathSTAR101 That's true, but they don't have any stands so that means they had to memorize it

  • @cleonaya I dont agree.

  • @CathSTAR101 what are you some kind of a judge, from my thinking i think they did well

  • Thanks so showing how I wasted my life, South Korea. I'm going listen to the Marine Band and cry now...

  • @masai101 wasted your life?

  • What is this song?

  • who in the world disliked this...

  • the best school band i have ever heard....

  • wow! that was awesome

  • wata fuck this is amazing

  • This is crazy ! ! !

  • most of them dont look to happy

  • It took me a while to notice, but they don't have music stands. Which means they have it all memorized!!! Holy shit this is elementary!?!

  • @florestiner12312 I didn't notice until you pointed it out.... I tell my students all the time that its better to memorize when possible because then you can concentrate on the music instead of the notes...

  • @bbstraw Yeah. But elementary??? WHAAA?!?!?!?!

  • @florestiner12312 yeah isn't awesome.

  • "Summon The Heroes" by John Williams, but it's an extremely altered arrangement. Either way, the musicianship from such youngins is incredible...

Makes me wonder if their parents pressure them into music. If that's the case, it really defeats the purpose of "doing what you love"

  • @demiurgemusic

Well they learn music since they were young. Chinese, Japanese, Korean, most of them learn music since they were young. Most of them love music though. It's how it works in Northeast Asia. We learn music since as a kid (I don't though damn it). I would love it if my parents made me learn music since I was a kid, I feel sad when compared to my friends who are extremely pro at piano and violins. Our families are strict, but our parents loves us a lot.

  • @demiurgemusic, This piece is "Portrait of Freedom" by Steven Reineke, but it is essentially a rip-off of Williams' "Summon the Heroes."

  • why couldnt we play songs like that in my school band. that freaking awesome.

  • oh mygosh.. it looks like they had to memorize the song too O_O

wow im proud to be asian LOL

  • @bbiriibbom Ahaha Me too :D ^^ Gomawoo

  • This is a wind ensemble of a public elementary school in a small city (Jin-Joo) of South Korea. Marvellous!!!

  • this while elemtary kids in america learn to play the recorder :(

  • @LaTex305

So true, when I was in Elementary school in America, I was learning the recorder. Now I returned back to Macau, shit and all my friends are all better than me in music. This coming from a Chinese.

  • All this while American Elementary kids are learning to lip sync to RAP....

Look at the FOCUS on those little faces!!!! I wish 10 of my band students had that kind of focus!!!!!!

  • i want to become a band director and offer music classes in elementary now. :)

  • they're so BA. it's all memorized :D

  • I want to move to japan so i can learn to play this good! no one takes music more seasoulsy than japan!!!!!!!

  • @BassClarinetManiac19 this is korea you dumbass

  • Comment removed

  • @BassClarinetManiac19 They are South Korean public elementary school students, not Japanese.

  • man poor kids for the ones sitting right in front of the trumpets at the beginning...

  • my highschool couldnt even do this....smh...

  • And I thought Hawaii Pono I and US anthem was hard in elementary.

  • Comment removed

  • Title of the piece is Portrait of Freedom by Steven Reineke. It's basically Summon the Heroes by John Williams for younger bands.

  • 1:18 YOU GO GIRL!

  • What kind of witchcraft is this?

  • These people are wonderful. America's musical education stinks. People think what ever new hit song they think on the radio is good now adays. There is no training in musical theory what so ever in America unless your the son or daughter of a classicaly trained musician.

  • @roselinabonnie1997

My friend is extremely good in music, violin, piano. He learned since he was a kid and are just as amazing as the people in this video, yet he likes American music. I hate American music though. The lyrics suck and the music doesn't have any impact. It has no emotions, fucking auto tune and I hate technos. Worst of all, they say Asian music are shit compared to American music. Yep, they insulted the Japanese, Koreans and us Chinese. Most of us are pro at music than them.

  • @roselinabonnie1997 but america has the best teachers in the world, and they are come from all of other places of this planet.. of course if you are going to take their lessons, that cost must be very very very expensive..

  • Flutes in back?.. I wouldn't mind that!

  • LMAO my elementary school sucks compared to this and Japans on YouTube x_x And yes in elementary school we played Hot Cross Buns :P

  • Anyone else notice they have their music memorized?

  • 2:12 Yaaaaaaay, I play cymbals!

  • @SilverKhondji shut up jackson.

  • um... my elementary school band consisted of hot cross buns..

  • WOW!!! It's really all I can say!

  • THUMBS UP IF THIS BAND IS AMAZING AND/OR YOU LIKE KOREA!!!!!!!!!!

  • GO KOREA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • elementary schoold damn im in middle and we sound worse

  • @habbosuks439 Welcome to America! Land of the fat an uneducated!

  • sounds like summon the heroes of john williams..

  • i feel REALLY dumb for just realizing this... but they have NO stands whatsoever for music....

  • @edo90954 , most kids in Hawaii come close. well the asians do xD

  • man, those trombone players have F attachments at an early age! but they probably can't reach 6/7th position. I got my first F attachment horn when i was 13 , then my bass bone at 15 when i started high school.

  • Wow...I feel sad for the people in front of the trumpets while the trumpets and percussion play by themselves in the beginning... the boy looks like it hurt him because how loud the trumpets are..

  • some of the girls here are cute..

  • @ichimaru95000 You find only that? I'm sure you're an envious Japanese, Ichimaru. Hahaha!!

  • Trumpet boys hair is so perfect!

  • No emmotion in the faces sorry... :( dont like...

  • VISIT...gpabsky.com website for the artist...have also a thread ARTIST FOR KIDS!

  • gpabsky.com website for the artist...have also a thread ARTIST FOR KIDS!

  • Them practicing the same pieces for a really long time all year is no different than what happens in the United States. Just saying. They're way ahead of what we're doing.

  • I'm a band director. I know.

  • Keep in mind that they play the same pieces for a really, really, really long time. It is quite a high level, but there is a cost to the same couple of pieces for the entire year.

  • Notice the lack of music in front of them?

    Improvisation at it's best.

I feel better knowing that they didn't get a childhood, and I did.

  • Sensacional supersensacional !!!!!....

  • OMG

  • ok guys... they are in ELEMENTARY SCHOOL and they are BETTER than my HIGH SCHOOL'S band!!! ahahah~!!! lol!! and NO MUSIC SHEETS!!!!! YAAAARRGGGHHH!!! if my parents really wanted to give my brother and me a good education, we should've just stayed in korea!! i mean, look at this!! screw going to harvard. i would've just gone to seoul university. oh man, they play like pros too!!! XDDDDDDDDDD

  • and they have it memorized, no music stands

  • It would suck if somebody had really bad gas =P

  • It is a brilliant performance.

I understand that a lot of breath training was necessary to create this sound.

  • I love 2:14 because of the cymbal player.

It looks like he's making a "YEAHHHHH WOOOOOO" gesture. Cute. ^^

  • Bravo , Bravo ,!!!!!!!!!!

  • if i ever wanted to teach music i would move to japan or south korea

  • Oh, wow. My school had just played this not too long ago. But, this school did a WAY better job.

  • they all look unhappy :(

  • speechless; incredible to all young musicians.

  • think how much torture they had gotten from their parents and their teachers.

they beat kids and force kids to do it.

its not that they r doing it for their interest or sth.

    its all about their parents.

  • What made you said so?

  • WOAHHH! INCREDIBLE!!!

  • they have it all memorized...nice

    they're so good! elementary too!

  • name of this piece?

  • This is incredible

  • american music education is in a sad place compared to this.

  • oh my god, you are so right...our highschool band didn't sound anywhere near as good as this. I feel ashamed, lol...

  • From a funding and time-allotment standpoint, I would have to agree.

  • @kamikazeace00 you have to realize, they are taught music since grade 1, amerca starts in middle school, some places highschool.

  • @Andrewno im american and i first started music through school in 3rd grade

  • @kamikazeace00 I agree , kids in Hawaii come close. :)

  • @kamikazeace00 Of course, American have different ways of learning music. Different regions learn different ways. ;) That's why I love my land! :D

  • @kamikazeace00 Trust me, compared to Australia, you're music education is God.

  • @kamikazeace00 its mainly because they have the ability to focus. our bands could be great like this, if they didnt have the 8-9 people that dont care in them....

  • @kamikazeace00 I tried looking up some american elementary bands/orchestras to prove you wrong... Didn't do so well. xD It's not so bad though. At least it's there and there are some really nice orchestras in the higher grade levels. But exposure at a younger age at school would be nice too. Maybe someday. xD

  • OMGHLYSHT.

    i'm korean..and i'm in WE

    but i'm not this epic.

  • OMG..

  • Man this is ELEMENTARY. Even my band doesnt sound this grade and we are many grades above them. With the exception of me and a few others that rly all the good ppl in the band. Asians are rly great and dedicated ppl, they fascinate me.
