  • GREAT VIDEO! CONGRATULATIONS

  • The tuneing is a E major or possible an E-ninth with a basic E to A change setup on split pedals. What he doing is possible on any stanbdard E-ninth 10=string pedal steel. Quite Simple and basic stuff, actually compared to most of what we here from pedalsteelers.

  • cool

  • beautiful

  • Okay if you like this then you will SLOVE Robert Randolph!!! Robert Randolph is THE BEST pedal steel guitarist I have ever heard! He just came out with a new CD a few days ago and it’s AMAZING! His solos of him rocking out are to die for! When I listen to his music, I can really feel every note and there aren’t too many artists I can say that about! Check him out!

  • Daniel is an entirely different player, this man is a musician a stylist and a great instrumentalist, whereas RR is a frustrated Electric Guitarist who just couldn't cut it on the regular guitar so he took the easy way out.. He plays those type of solos that are so easy on the steel yet they sound so impressive, what a shame they fool most people, Emperor's Suit of Clothes Syndrome.

Not a musician, not an instrumentalist, just a showman..

  • right on man. coooooooooooolllllllllllllllllllll

  • enbody knows the tuning he's playing in???

  • @rezlaa I think standard Nashville E9

  • Very nicely done...

  • Unique and amazing.

  • amazing...like no one else, ever.

  • The movie is amazing too. "Here is What is"

  • Well, good fun! Now I have one too. Thanks for the e9 introduction. Great sound.

  • Name this strument??

  • The instrument is a pedal steel guitar. The particular model is a Sho~Bud L.D.G., which is a single neck on a double body, with a pad where the back neck would be. This particular model was made famous by steel guitar legend Lloyd Green, who played on countless hits during the 60's, 70's and 80's.

  • This is the magic of genius! See, if you gave me this pedal steel guitar, probably the most I could do would be dust it. He can work wonders with it.

  • A - mazing!!!

  • "guitar and a car tour" wainwright works with lanois

  • shweeeeet

  • He strings it up really different. The second to last low string is replaced with a lighter guaged string. And then he tunes it different as well.

  • Can anyone shed some light on what copedent Lanois uses on his steel?

  • Cool shoes.

  • Does anyone know the name of this song or what record it can be found on? And can we PLEASE get some more Lanois playing the steel on YouTube?

  • JJ Leaves LA from the album Shine.

  • Thanks for the info, abcforall. I'm new to steel guitar and this is really inspiring stuff.

  • Beautiful steel playing. I wouldn't think of Daniel Lanois playing steel, but what a great sound he gets.

  • Do you remember steel guitar song Pleading and Sleepwalking?

  • great job.

  • KelderDe . These ShoBud pedal steel guitars ( the LDG model ) had 10 strings three floor pedals and four knee levers. some had only three knee levers but some players fold up the ones they dont use .

  • Lanois and the pedal steel are a perfect match. A wholly unique and refreshing approach. Beautiful work.

  • Interesting, and beautiful. Thanks for posting.

  • it's fricken aweseme! how many strings does that one have?

  • Ten strings, three pedals and at least one knee lever based on what I can see.

  • I'd shure like to hear Burmese Kareoke Musique on Peddle steel more when someone combines Burmese pop kareoke songs or any asian kareoke songs with this kind of Guitar it just makes the musique for legendary my name is Andy Bowe

  • Very Nice!

  • beauty

  • i love your style of playing

  • That's Daniel Lanois in the video, producer for U2, Bob Dylan, etc. Amazing producer, and apparently a pretty damn good pedal steel player too :-P
