Cursed to forever be a flute player. Don't get me wrong, I honestly LOVE the flute, but, there's just something about the bassoon that seduces me and wins me over. It's so unfortunate that the cheapest one I could find online went for 1,450.00$. . .so far out of my reach.
the second mov. was played way too fast and hollywood and there were some clams by the bassoon. didnt bother listening to the 3rd, that unimpressive and annoying version it was.
the irony of your post is obviously way above your head.
this performance is rubbish, like it or not. he does miss notes (you dont hear it, you need new ears), the orchestra plays too fast and hollywood movie like. fact.
The performance isn't rubbish, it's far from it. Who gives a rats ass if he misses notes... it's called real music. Real music has real mistakes. The orchestra might play too fast for your liking, but that doesn't make it true. What you say is fact is actually your opinion - accept it.
vivialdi wrote this to be played a certain way, i repeated the way he wanted to hear it, according to the sheet. you are saying, vivaldi who wrote it is wrong, he wrote it too slow, its just his opinion.
and then you say musicians can play mistakes which are off key and that is real music....notes that shouldnt be there.
wow, ignorance is bliss, but then again you are probably one of those people who thinks american idol, xfactor has real talent with real music ;p
Vivaldi wouldn't have written definitive tempi markings, after all this music is from the Baroque period. Tempi was much more flexible in their time than in ours. And what I'm saying that musicians are real people - they make mistakes. If you'd like a perfect performance go listen to a heartless computer beep some midi file.
this is getting better. vivaldi didnt write in definitive tempi?.....care to read the sheets before you talk ;P
the point is, i factually stated the mistakes he made...you attacked me for mentioning a fact. that says something about you, not me wanting computers to play it ;)
and again you make a dumb assumption that its only from the heart if you make mistakes...cmon, this is getting silly not? just admit you were wrong, stop embarrassing yourself :P
Vivaldi may have written Andante and Allegro as suggestions, but he would have never written a Maezels Metronome marking. Also, I have the sheets in front of me, although these markings were suggestions by the editor, Sol Schoenbach. Since you are such an expert, would you please point out the exact times that this artist makes their mistakes? Also, what is a better version played on Baroque Bassoon that I can listen to?
how about just admitting you were wrong by saying the one who actually wrote it did it wrong instead of embarrassing yourself even more? ;)
the claims you made are 1. vivaldi made mistakes in the way he wrote it and this amateur orchestra is playing it properly. and 2. mistakes played by a musician make music real. someone who plays all the correct notes is a robot who doesnt know music.
thats very impressive. you actually believe this garbage? ;P
I can hear a difference, but only because there is two different tempi (which seriously, isn't that big a deal), and the fact that your recording has a much higher file quality.
You don't hear any difference in accents, phrasing, mistakes. Amazing set of ear apples you have there looking like ears ;P
You must be right, Vivaldi composed it wrong and these bunch of amateurs are teaching Vivaldi a lesson how to play it so it suits a Hollywood movie....LOL.
With that, you disqualified yourself to be taken seriously, case closed ;)
Well it could first be the fact that it is not a modern bassoon (which you will see all the time), but rather a baroque bassoon (which you may never see). It could also be that the perspective is different - most bassoonists sit when they play, but as he is the soloist he is standing, so that make the instrument seem smaller.
Thanks, I am impressed w. bassoon ever since I heard Mozart concerto and some Vivaldi arias for countertenor-Jaroussky, here you can find very fine Mozart andante ms. Froling as a soloist where bassoon makes some phenomenal intervals that dont make sense in any other instrument

if you cant hear a huge difference in quality, phrasing, expression, you are better off not listening to vivaldi anymore :D

a question: is this kind of a short basson, or the guy is supra tall- seriously it looks like mimiature bassson as I can tell?

Great, especially the 3rd movement! Such a finger technique, sound and creativity with the expression...
I'd have played the 2nd ov. a bit slower, but I think it's also OK in your tempo.
