It's so cool how someone just woke up one day and said they wanted to show the world, themself. it's the steriotyping that really makes Hetalia... Hetalia. I just love how this video shows the darker side of Hetalia, with throwing in the right amount of light. "In order to keep peace in the future, we must look to the wars in our past."

@SwirlyisCool I think it's important to realize that the bad things in history did occur, but I think it's also important not to demonize a nation for what their government decided to do in the past. You brought up a prime example, World War II Germany. You are absolutely correct, and there were a LOT of factors that went into things. Too many to get into on here... B

I cried after watching this. I hate looking at the characters in the manga looking all beat up and hurt, because it really reflects the state of our country...what if there really WAS a person who got his/her bones broken and body bruised every time a country was bombed? Or scratched when one of his or her people died? Even though a scratch might seem like much, it all adds up...truly an amazing video.

All I want to say to this, is thank you. Sometimes it bothers me when people just see Hetalia as being cute. In truth, it was as gut wrenching and bloody as this. Yes, hetalia is fun with all the comedic characters and all, and you tend to feel pity to certain characters who gets the bad luck in the comic, but after watching this and thinking about it- I don't even know which nation / country to feel pity to since it's like all of them are bloodthirsty for the conquering with wars.

It's a bit like - "No matter which country it is, they're human." I admit I used to dislike another country - but Hetalia changed it. This reminds me of that war game my dad plays. I don't want to play it because the instructions are too complicated. 2:46 reminded me of the movie "Pacific". and 3:16. This is so true. Hetalia tends to make everything look just funny and comical, and it's easy to forget how terrible wars can be. After reading other comments it seems kinda many understands the real horror of war, though. Great job with the video<3 I'm planning on making Finland's Winter War tribute Hetalia-style, and this gave me plenty of ideas for it :D

Hetalia is such a good comic, because it makes people aware of other countries in the most intriguing way possible. I mean, true, not all of the information is 100% accurate, and there is some stereotyping, but Hetalia still can make you feel for another nation in the way that you aren't quite able to do so for a few million people under one name.
War is all fun in literature, but it is sickening in real life.
@conni60640 It's kinda funny how the stereotyping helps to make an entertaining character, but it's also quite obvious (at least to me) that it is only meant as a joke. This gives people a chance to laugh at there own country and at themselves. Even if all of the info isn't 100% accurate, it sometimes makes me go look it up. I had never even heard of Sealand before. This is a beautiful video. Something about it makes war seem even worse than it was to me before. Since I was introduced to Hetalia, I keep imagining that the countries feel the pain that their own nations feel and suffer it as the people do. This video puts it perfectly and it makes the countries seem more human. How they realize their mistakes too late to change then. And how it haunts them as they live on.

Hetalia is sort of special (and a little heretical ) as a series. It gives the basis of the characters, what they look like, how they act, jokes, things that happen... but Hetalia to me seems to be like a set-up for the fans to create with them instead.
It's kind of amazing to me how many dark serieses have funny fan-made things, and yet, Hetalia has a lot of serious art. The creater should be very, very proud of his work 8)

It's true, people do forget while watching/reading it. But I think there's a good reason Hetalia isn't serious.
I think it's better to find humor in our darkest times then to resurface all the bad memories- If Hetalia was more about the actual deaths of people versus the interaction between the characters, it would probably be very offensive to some. If one incident was shown from only one side or one incident had more attention than another you can imagine what troubles it'd cause.
I do agree with you and that is also one of the reason's that i like Hetalia it may not show the darker side of war and i don't think that the whole war was like that there are some happy moments even though there are very few, and i like how Hetalia shows that and tells facts about it at the same time not making fun about it.
It is a great show and even though the characters in Hetalia are all chibi like i also like the fact that most fans do draw or make vidoes about how the war really was.
This reminds us of how nothing good ever comes from wars - why'd there be wars if the countries involved would be JUST TALKING ABOUT THE PROBLEM IN THE END ANYWAYS.

Human beings are naturally violent, restless and we create problems with one another because humans are also reluctant to change. This is so true. Hetalia tends to make everything look just funny and comical, and it's easy to forget how terrible wars can be. After reading other comments it seems kinda many understands the real horror of war, though. Great job with the video<3 I'm planning on making Finland's Winter War tribute Hetalia-style, and this gave me plenty of ideas for it :D

Hetalia is such a good comic, because it makes people aware of other countries in the most intriguing way possible. I mean, true, not all of the information is 100% accurate, and there is some stereotyping, but Hetalia still can make you feel for another nation in the way that you aren't quite able to do so for a few million people under one name.
War is all fun in literature, but it is sickening in real life.

@conni60640 It's kinda funny how the stereotyping helps to make an entertaining character, but it's also quite obvious (at least to me) that it is only meant as a joke. This gives people a chance to laugh at there own country and at themselves. Even if all of the info isn't 100% accurate, it sometimes makes me go look it up. I had never even heard of Sealand before. Thanks for the awesome post!

This is a beautiful video. Something about it makes war seem even worse than it was to me before. Since I was introduced to Hetalia, I keep imagining that the countries feel the pain that their own nations feel and suffer it as the people do. This video puts it perfectly and it makes the countries seem more human. How they realize their mistakes too late to change then. And how it haunts them as they live on.

(had to split the comment into 2 comments because it was over the limit ^^; ) I love the way you had the pictures, and then splattered blood on them (movie maker effect I'm guessing?), to me it symbolised the way countries always destroy themselves by fighting with other countries instead of just getting along and I don't know if that's the meaning you were going for, but if felt very deep to me... I can't explain myself any better than that (^^;; But it is really well done and I love it!

for some reason, this song coupled with the video really touched me. I loved the way you presented it, and it really made me think. If you start thinking about the countries like characters, the way Hetalia does, then it makes things seem more human (at least to me).

I did like the video, but I thought it was a little heavy handed. The blood splattered picture effect was a little overdone. Otherwise, I think you did a pretty good job of reinforcing the concept behind Hetalia - and I really liked the picture(s) with England and America facing off in Revolutionary gear. I don't know what to say, besides the fact that like many other Hetalia fans, I need to be reminded time to time what history is about, that it's not just all shounen-ai fluff. Especially love the parts where those happy-fluff pics are reviewed with blood splattered all over them. well, in hetalia there are some serious and sad moments, for exemple:
- scene when Poland look through keyhole of his bathroom and see Lithuania's scars made by Russia
- crying Russia during Bloody sunday
- scene between England and USa during American Revolution

Hetalia is sort of special (and a little heretical ) as a series. It gives the basis of the characters, what they look like, how they act, jokes, things that happen... but Hetalia to me seems to be like a set-up for the fans to create with them instead.
It's kind of amazing to me how many dark serieses have funny fan-made things, and yet, Hetalia has a lot of serious art. The creater should be very, very proud of his work 8)

It's true, people do forget while watching/reading it. But I think there's a good reason Hetalia isn't serious.
I think it's better to find humor in our darkest times then to resurface all the bad memories- If Hetalia was more about the actual deaths of people versus the interaction between the characters, it would probably be very offensive to some. If one incident was shown from only one side or one incident had more attention than another you can imagine what troubles it'd cause.

I do agree with you and that is also one of the reason's that i like Hetalia it may not show the darker side of war and i don't think that the whole war was like that there are some happy moments even though there are very few, and i like how Hetalia shows that and tells facts about it at the same time not making fun about it.
It is a great show and even though the characters in Hetalia are all chibi like i also like the fact that most fans do draw or make vidoes about how the war really was.

This reminds us of how nothing good ever comes from wars - why'd there be wars if the countries involved would be JUST TALKING ABOUT THE PROBLEM IN THE END ANYWAYS.

okay, forwarned, i am not saying war is the answer, but, its how people are. Human beings are naturally violent, restless and we create problems with one another because humans are also reluctant to change. I'm not saying we don't change, its just, as a general rule, we like things to stay the same. Talking things out would be wonderful, if we listened. thats the problem. Alot of people just think they're right, and theres no other way. War does suck, people loose family and themselves cus of it
