  • You gotta love a guy who's basically taking a bunch of ingredients that cost almost nothing, mixes them up using his skills, and when he's done the product goes for what...9 bucks? 11? 12? Could even be 16-20, if he's working in Manhattan or a major metro area in an upscale place. High-end places make a 400-500% profit on booze. Helps cover the paper-thin profit margin on food.

    You make almost nothing on food. In the restaurant business, the food is just there so you drink more.

    :) If you're into rums try Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva, a really smooth, warm and heavy rum from Venezuela, not really well known but worth every cent. It has great notes of dried fruits, allspice, pineapple, cinnamon, leather, tobacco and nut, just awesome!

  • @TheParalyzer13 Zima! That was goddamn hilarious. And, by the way, I just had my first hot buttered rum yesterday at a place in Lake Placid called The Cottage. It was 3 degrees and snowing. I'm a foodie and drink beer,wine...you name it....the drink may have been the most delicious things that ever passed through my lips. And it relaxed the hell out of me, I had 4 of them. I will be using this recipe tomorrow night. Thanks for the great comment, I had a nice giggle....Zima.

  • I think it's because this is done impromptu, also, he's neither a public speaker nor an actor, so i don't expect him to speak perfectly.

  • This looks incredible, but what is the orange zest? I thought orange zest was just the orange coloring of the peal, scraped off and grated. But this looks like the whole orange peal.

  • zest is both, basically it is the orange coloured skin of the orange, in cooking it is usually grated but in a drink it is used as a slice...
