Chinese copy sounds stuffy. Yamaha much brighter. For anyone half serious about playing, there is no reason to saddle yourself with an inferior instrument that only make improvement that much harder.
I'd still go with the Yamaha. Performance is only one aspect.
What about the company itself?
I have more confidence in Yamaha's ability to stand behind its product and help the customer out with any issues than I have with this Chinese company that has not earned such a reputation to begin with.
I don't know for sure. There was talk on the yahoo group for recorders about some plastic yamaha copies sold in America and they're called "Woodnote" recorders. Check into that or see the website listed above to find out if they can export to the U.S. Good luck!
Thanks for uploading, it is very interesting.

Yamaha makes cars and motorcycles and is not alone in making wooden recorders.
The best recorders are wooden ones.

The Yamaha tone quality was definatly superior altough the chinese recorders would be a good cheaper option for schools.

The Yamahas were better, but not by a whole lot. Are the chinese instruments for sale in the US?

I think you had far less trouble getting clean tone out of the Yamahas. This was especially noticeable with the Tenor.

Good sound on all the instruments. But I think that is expecially your merit, for your good blow ! Thanks for posting, anyhow.

Thanks for posting this. I asked the question about woodnotes on the yahoo recorder group.

The Woodnotes sound good, but I like the Yamahas' tone better.

I agree with ubizmo. Anyway, the chineses recorder are good choices for their low costs.

In both cases, the Yamaha has a slightly stronger, and brighter, sound.

I'd like to read the comments of a few more viewers before I say anything more.
What do you think?
