  • when tucking, grab your legs as if you are pulling them to your chest (don't overdo them) trust me it works :]

  • Great explanation, thanks!

  • I know it has nothing to do with the video but...at 2:44 there's a woman pusing a pram and jogging at the same time XD

  • @gamesmaster369 well spotted

  • @CobraKevin136 "good morning kaia "

  • Awesome

  • Awesome stuff, wouldn't have made it without you guys: put this after the com in youtube to see my first backflip /watch?v=VW-gVKHUdi8

  • Is the better tutorial I've ever seen :P

  • how long did it take u to learn how to do a back flip?

  • i just broke my neck doing this..... thanks.

  • @demondeaconkid61 why are you still living then?

  • @demondeaconkid61 Thats your fualt >_>

  • complimenti è fatto molto bene

  • When you say become comfortable with the movements do you mean in a day or practice it throughout a week. If I get a friend and myself and we go train for a while should we be able to get it by the end of the day or will that be rushing it?

  • @shadetheninja66 you can try pracicing at a beach, that way theres like no cance of hurting yourself.

  • @Bconnolly888 beleve me .. there is .. alot

  • to me, its all about breaking that fear barrier. i know how to, but people i know are more afraid to then their physical ability to do it. nice tutorial. 5/5

  • amazing tutorial

  • Now i can do a backflip thx:)!!

  • Best Tutorial Ive ever seen xD

  • wuts a ball of my feet? I have 2 balls between my legs but my English language teacher didnt mention any feet ball thing

  • @alan513 The ball of the foot is where the toes join with the rest of the foot.

  • @darkman4747 got it, thx

  • Ozzy moved to US? cuz he was on HPK team.

  • Best backflip tutorial I found yet

  • Thank you for the tutorial, I can do one on the ground, but for some reason when i land, my lower back hurts. Do you have any tips on what I am doing wrong or is it supposed to be like that??

  • Soo helpful thanks

  • Me and my friend are going to commit to this tutrial. its the best one yet..

all u do is find a just worthy partner

  • awesome tutorial

  • practice on a trampoline or bouncy castle

  • What 4 idiots DIDN'T like this tutorial!?

  • @shadetheninja666

That are these people, they think they are cool, when they are another meaning than the other peoples... Or they are these peoples who want to make the other videos bad, that their videos are looking better... Sorry for bad english :D

  • Is there any way I can learn to do this with out a spotter??

  • @shadetheninja666 A trampoline, thats me ;D

  • This was amazing, and so detailed it was just AMAZING. But for me there is only one problem...I don't have a spotter... =(

  • Will u REALy die if u do this wrong, Cuz i know itll hurt like hell and make messup some muscles and bones at least if u land on you neck, but will u REALY die? cuz i may never try to do one if so.

  • @C0LT0NTV No you won't kill yourself. You have better odds of dieing in a car wreck. The worst that will probably happen is you land on your neck (unlikely, most people land on their stomach or head) Don't worry, just go for it. I know it's really hard to get over the fear....I know...But you just have to go for it before your mind has a chance to tell you 'This could POSSIBLY end badly

  • dude thanks for this video...thanks..

  • I'm not good at backflips should i have an ambulance waiting???

  • train safe lol. its safely. "i jumped good" lmao

  • thanks man very good tutorial it works!!! :D :D :D

  • thanks this could relay help

  • Ok, listen guys. There is no need for a tutorial. I can guarantee you 100%. If you try to do a backflip, YOU WILL do a backflip. And if you're on a trampoline, it is easy as hell, just throw yourself back as you lean backwards.

Here's a fact: Fear is the reason why people can't do backflips.

  • im gunna stop half way to take da piss

  • i think this is the best backflip, or parkour itself tutorial ever. Thanks a lot

  • yo this is probably the best tutorial i seen in a while

  • I think you have the best approach :)

  • Best Back Flip Tutorial I've seen. Thanx Guys you opened new doors for me This set of exercises worked wonders on my technique

  • it totally awesome!

  • whats the music that you use in the backround?? like it :)

  • @BarskiandBarney i dont know maybe look at the end of the video?

  • i tuck like a ball and land fine... i go higher then you and land on my toes and not flat footed unlike you.... apart from that good tutorial

  • Great!!

  • This is the best tutorial for backflips! , doesn't get any better than this. Thx

  • Thank you so much for this very helpful video I will certenly practice until it get it down. Thanks!

  • Thanks I can now do a backflip!:)

  • Thank your

  • Very good tutorial ;)) thanks

  • this tutorial is really good but i dont think people will get over the fear very quickly

  • great tutorial!

    thank you :)

  • i like do a running gainer and like a running half gainer or soemthign it look like i run sweep my foot and spin no hands like half a circly almost spinning diagonal

  • Best tutorial

  • It was an ok tutorial, but some of it was slightly off. The preformer in this video looked backwards during the tuck, and also arched his back during his jump and set. This hurts hight, plus it makes you fly backwards too much. Otherwise, nice tutorial. It's nice that you included some info for the spotter.

  • you kept it pretty simple 5 stars

  • lol 3:07 the bird got scared

  • just an epic tutorial. Seriosly AWESOME! :D And nice quality. you really see exactly how to land with your feets. 5stars. And nice that you did a tutorial for the spotter too!

  • nice tutorial

  • and the music fit so well .. i do nt know why :P

  • man u rule

  • Great tutorial!

but I thought looking backwards slows down the rotation and eliminates height. If you look at Anis, he never looks back in a backflip.

  • yeah true, but it's less scary if you look back because the ground comes quicker, thats why layouts are easier to land than tucks because your ready do the landing

  • awesome tutorial i have done martial arts forever and always wanted to be able to bring a little gymnastics to my routine

  • @MohdAsyraf9 I agree =P

  • This is a realy effective way of practising a backflip.

  • Thank u! Best tutorial ever!

  • this is the best tutorial i have ever seen. thanx!!!! once i get the back fluip right, im gono carry on with free running :D thanx for this tutorial

  • Really amazing! 5+ Never seen training technique like this before O_o Impressive=))

  • best video i have ever seen.

  • AMAZING VIDEO!!

  • Wow awsum n_n

but i'm scared tht im going to hit the floor with my head if it goes wrong xd..

  • i see people saying to start it from a bed. my problem is, my ceiling is too low and i would hit the top. any suggestions? and have they made a tutorial on how to be a spotter? if not then thats my suggestion

  • I really wants to do it... but i think my body is afraid.

When im jumping to behind i will just not roll in a kind of ball and esspacily the tuck!!!!

I try it on a soft bed maybe its the reason??

  • Best tutorial , thank you !:D

  • Best tutorial Ive seen!

  • Best tutorial for a back flip :]

  • this is sooooo helpfull!!!! thanks!!!!

gonna go and try it right now with my bro at the garden!!

(its midnight, but he will understand...:P)

tx again for posting this video!!

  • holy shit this is the fucking best tutorial for back flip that I haver ever seen

  • great job on the video! this tutorial is made really well. i like how you showed ways to ease into the trick instead of saying "just go for it and don't be scared."(i know that is a big factor though.)

  • have to say very helpfull, it wasnt like some of the other tutorials where some idiot is like this is how u do it, does it fast, then the video ends with almost no explanation

  • i couldnt believe how well this worked. I weigh 240 lbs an even I can do it now and well.

  • #1 rule:

    never hesitate

  • i weigh 14.5 stone so i have no spotter. what do i do?

  • whats 14.5 stone?

  • Thanks for the tutorial. Very well made. =D

So you just jump up and the tuck creates the flip? Don't jump backwards at all?

  • this is awesome you can really see how everything works step by step

  • Oh shi- I just rated this two stars by mistake. Sorry =S

Easily a 5/5 video though, I'm finding this really helpful when working on my flip.

  • man this is fucking awesome.

what's the music called? i need to have it.

  • The Binary- Good Morning Kaia.

it tells you at the end of the video...

  • i learned it differently, this tut however made it so much easier for me to teach others the backtuck, thank you!

  • dont throw your head back

  • Really nice tutorial really well made.

  • omg none of my friends wants to spott me xD what shall i do? shall i try by myself?

  • same here dude..they all think i will break my neck.

  • If you do decide to do it, this has been said alot, but that is because it is so import. remember to fully commit to the flip. Dont bail at the last moment once you jump and start flipping dont stop and go "WAIT"

  • yeh i know, i mde the flip :D

  • was it hard??

  • no, it was just scary. i recommend to do it from a bed first ( i did it from a bed first time)

  • u will kill ur self if u stop halfway

  • @MarzMuzikBros That happened to me. Throw your hands down

  • @MarzMuzikBros Thanks for the big confidence boost :)

  • Completely agree man, i tried a wall flip today and almost bailed but i landed it

  • I agree. Don't fail at the last second...

  • dude its the best tutorial iv tried so im workin on it and iv almost got it

  • Good tutorial. I disgree with the jumping backwards technique though.

As mentioned, this is suboptimal technique and does not generate the necessary height if you want to work more advanced skills. Head should stay neutral, and the jump should be perfectly vertical until the apex is reached. Then the tuck should be initiated with the driving knees.

The spotting technique from the backside is a good one though.

  • awsome very usefull thanks

  • this was the best tutorial ive ever seen for a backflip, thanks for all the help.

  • this is really good thanks to this tutorial Iearned the back tuck yesterday :D

    thanks for the tutorial ^^

    *peace*

  • wow, your tutorials are much better. keep up te good work..

  • nice

  • Such a good tutorial.

  • Thank you very much for this =)

  • Undoubtedly the best backflip tutorial I've seen. Great way to break down the fear -- which is my biggest hinderance. Thanks guys!

  • thats not a good back tuck. jump straight up and keep ur head loking forward, not angled to the back.

  • since he's new at it maybe he's looking backwards to spot his landing and get a feeling for when to untuck.

  • I think freerunners usually will look back due to the varying heights they flip from. Wheras on ground you can rely on muscle memory, flipping off an object requires the better spacial awareness needed to judge the distance and landing material.

  • If you jump straight up you will have to do much more work to create a fast rotation, your set goes on a slight angle towards the back.

  • hmm... I haven't seen anybody do the set, jump, tuck with someone supporting their back before. Interesting way to build confidence. Nice tutorial.

  • the back tuck wasnt clean at all he looked backed, and the spot was not what i would consider a good spot, i use one hand in the lower back, and one hand under the knees, tu ensure the rotation....i could continue forever one what i didtn like

  • That is the way you spot a back tuck my man, you dont push the legs for you could create an over rotation, unless you are doing the flip for the person. He does look back but as I mention on the tutorial you are suppose to look to the front, that is just the way it works for him. If you dont like it, well, it was not design for one person but many. Thanks for your imput

  • part 1.yeah but spotting like you do you have tyo be sure that the person isnt going too choke in mid air, cus if he dose, their is no way that you are goign too be able to put your hand were you do too continue the rotation, if he chokes before the roatation its (max 500 words)

  • part 2.ok cus you will just hold him in his back, but if he tucks then opens, you are fucked lol, hand also how is he suppose tu tuck if you block the way with your arm, well mabey a little bit,,,,and both of your arms are too close too each other, one is at the center of mass, and the other is very close, so giving the rotation too someone with no experience in a bakc tuck would propbably be very hard physically for the spotter!

  • I am not sure if you read the tutorial, but all of this is with progression. It is not only obvious but common sense that I wont use one hand if he/she is not confident. The first spotting way is easier cuz yourre leading at the center of gravity. Near the shoulders. One hand pushes the hips, not the legs, to create rotation, by pushin the legs you could throw the person off their center of balance. Its all progressive, it takes time to go from one step to step. Hence the progressive exercises

  • height and too give hime confidence, works good for me, trampolines and something thta you cant go without when it commes too backflip fear!, i think

  • yeah i geuse, but i start by enseuring that the have flawless technique on a trampoline by doing things on the groud lying down, and too make sure they have good syncronization with arm and legs, and once they have a nice clean one on the trampoline we jsut go on the gorund, at first i literlay throw them, and ensuring that that the head passes, after i put lesse and lesse power too their rotation and after only my arm in his back is their too support his

  • very detailed :D good work I jsut recently learned a back tuck :)

  • this looks really great and kind of easy... I will show this video to my friend and try it this way!

    Thanks a lot

  • UrbanCurrent!

  • What if you don't have a spotter? : /

  • all you need is guts

  • haha ya

  • you have friends?... than you have spotter.

  • Hawaiipk!

  • why does everyoine call it the back tuck now, i know that it uses back tuck in flight?

  • a lot of people call it a back tuck because like you said they tuck during the middle of the trick. But many people do not refer to it as a backflip because there are things called whipped backflips which require a different action from a back tuck. Therefore someone won't get confused between the two moves.

  • A back flip is, well, as the name says a flips going backwards, the thing is that there are several type of it.

    lay out

    wip

    step off

    etc

so to avoid confusion we specify that it is a back - tuck.

  • Alright, thats sick :P

  • Way to say nothing at all but still avoid saying "first"

  • well, now, i can come back and actually comment iwth proof of being first :P

    I s

  • lol now i can comment and have proof of being first :P

I'm gonna use this technique to learna backflip. that's my goal for the summer, and this way looks like the best way to learn.
