  • I don't understand the hate. These missionaries were trying to help these tribesman. Actually watch the movie before you comment ridiculous things! The government was under pressure and they were going to handle the situation themselves, which is why these five men risked everything to help save them. The missionaries were tying to show them that killing is not the answer through God and Christ.

  • But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ DIED for us.

    Romans 5:8

  • Awesome vid! Love the music.

  • And.... another religious debate.

  • If Christians are a bunch of torturers, murderers, and ethnic cleansers who love to convert non-Christians into Christians. What about Jews, Muslims, Hindus, and Buddhists? Are they better, as good, or not as good as the Christians? Please tell me.

  • @dafranx I am a Christian, and i will say this. All the religions you list have used violence EXCEPT Buddhists. They do not use violence to convert, most wont even use it to defend themselves unless given no other choice. Some will not even defend themselves at all, preferring to die in peace than to harm another.

  • i dont like religion but this was sad as fuck.

  • please does anyone know how to get this music

  • wow....... that hurts..... i know one of the saints.... Jame saint related to Nate saint and that kid is Jame Saints dad....... also if you read the book or maybe its in the movie there wifes go and keep teaching to them and they end up beliving in Jesus Christ Our Lord God almight

Jame saint goes to my Church

  • Yea I agree that is right and that movie was a good movie

  • For all you people hatin' on this movie and christianity and religion, please at least read the bible or make sure the stuff you say actually makes sense.

  • Very powerful stuff. Its very touching to see the tale of forgiveness that played out in this movie. It shows the power of Christ displayed in Steve Saints life and the lives of the Waodani tribesman who come to Christ.

  • Or... Maybe the didn't want to be "saved" after all... Silly Christians

  • Good riddens!

  • Once again we see the noble savage overpowering the evil white man. Sickening nonsense.

  • Christianity, the greatest murderer in human history!

  • @J1I9M7M4Y NO! people that are christians are the murderers not the religion itself, just like a knife in a wrong hands they ended up using for the bad reasons...

  • @J1I9M7M4Y No, religion is just an idea. It is humans that murder each other. And we are all capable of it.

  • Comment removed

  • @iammadness Religion is created by humans, so yes, the humans behind the religon are responsible for the murders. But it all happens in the name of christianity/islam or whatever you want to call it. Religion IS the greatest murder. And christianity has the number 1 position. I do not belong to ANY religion, i belive in mother nature..

  • @TheJJSG christianity has caused more war and death on this planet than any other religion in history. it has only served to spread white western dogma around the world and to dominate peoples of color on the earth and the exploitation of the lands and resources of indigenous people. the white race in particular has a rich history of war violence and invading other peoples for thousands of years. do your research. everybody dosnt want your white jesus and your western ways so get over yourself.

  • @timberlandtim1 Newsflash. Jesus wasn't necessarily a white guy. Nor was he a Christian. He was born a Jew.

  • @iammadness No, no man is born with any kind of religion. That is something other people is forcing (or at least try to) us into!

  • @J1I9M7M4Y Seems you've been hurt by someone using their religion in a negative way. That's rough, but don't let it taint your view of people who choose to believe in a plwer greater than themselves. We all make our choices in life and some people choose to do terrible things whether believers or not. I could make a list of each.

  • Comment removed

  • and this is what u get forcing religion onto others..

  • @rextrek yes u are right this is the best video ever. i smile when i see this. it represent those religious fanatic bastards trying shove religion down everybodys throat getting owned by those angry natives.

    1 for natives

    0 for religious fanatics : )

  • @rextrek You are so right my friend. So many tribes and all sorts of naturepeople has been totaly destroyed by religion!

  • Anybody who goes and connects with these tribes are fuckin stupid in my eyes. Obviously your gonna get killed. Think they really give a dam about you or what you bring? And then most of them are sold into slavery if captured, because of the stupid white man thinking he is some sort of chosen one.

  • @lions4life2 I don´t say this to upset you or to make you angry, but if one day you take the time to know what´s the Gospel all about, then you´ll understand this scene. I know hundreds of people that before becaming a christian thought this to ne stupid too. Today they tell this as a personnal testimony of change and they are even sorry for having once thought like that. The best for you and your family.

  • @lions4life2 Jim elliot said it best, "He is no fool to lose what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose"

  • Did you see the native's cock flopping around in his loin cloth at 1:32, hot!

  • wait.....why didn't they run?......

  • holy shit did not expect that lol, but damn they built as fuck.

  • omg retards on the move

  • Whoops, forgot one thing. They guy who got speared SON'S forgave him.

  • Not many people will get the point in making a movie so sad and tragic like this. Non-Christians will be like "This movie is disturbing and stupid. Whats the point?" The point is that the wives of these men FORGAVE the tribe. That's right, FORGAVE! This tribe soon realized what they had done was wrong, and became Christians. Heck, this movie made me cry my eyes out. Not just because its sad, its what God did for us! "He gives and takes away." So fitting!

  • @jtsmith100 I don't get it why they killed them though, I havn't seen the movie. Lol.

  • @sportygal632 They killed them because they thought they were cannibals and killed one of the tribe's women and I quote: "They have torn hr skin from her flesh and eaten it, so we must spear them, to help her spirit jump The Great Boa!"

  • y did these people need converting what makes these believes more important than the ones they all ready have pagans still believe in somthing which is much true than" jesus christ" earth, sun animals. as apose to a story thats been changed over the centurys to suite some one elses idea or believe lets face it the church has never made any money has never had any influence over history or has it hmmmm.

  • @tadave44 Good point

  • One of the Waoranis came to my church twice... he is one of the last that were kids in that time. Now he is an elder in the congragation in his tribe...

  • This is the saddest story ever. First the christian missionaries disrupted, destroyed and killed of these people with disease and violence. And now it has become a disgusting christian propaganda movie.

These christian animals show this to each other, praise themselves and their self righteousness, and 'forgive' the waorani!! This movie is a crime.

  • @fisterB no you just have a vendetta against christians.

  • @fisterB I've talk to a Waorani that came to my church, twice... That's not his version xD {it's not trolling, it's true. He was a kid by this part of the movie}

  • To be part of a religion does not mean changing your names, what you wear, or your way of life, it means changing your beliefs.

  • This movie was the bomb...Jim Elliot was totally sold out for the Lord....Yeah baby...JESUS IS LORD!!!!!!!!!!!

  • When I was a child, I met Ed McCully and his wife.

    Great, great people.

    They were all very brave.

This movie is sad in itself,

but the fact that its based on a true story..

  • love this movie.

  • i like how almost no comment below has nearly anything remotely to do with this movie scene anymore. i know i was a part of it but if you read before you make everyone know what you were thinking, your just beating a dead horse. sucks that not even one of my favorite movie scenes is spared from a flame war

  • RHANK YOU FOR THAS MOVIE. YOU ARE AWESOME FOR PUTTING THIS MOVIE ON YOU TUBE. GOD BLESS YOU. OH, AND BUY THE WAY, DON'T PAY ANY ATTENTION TO ANY NEGATIVE PERSON, JUST PRAY THAT GOD HAS MERCY AT THE JUDGEMENT. LOVE YOU, AND SO DOES OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR, JESUS CHRIST!!

  • Content, your name says it all.Let me spew some more.Your name shows a lack of intelligence hence there is no content.

  • @beachintl ''Beachchintl'' Yes that is a much better name.. lol, ever heard the line ''better to keep your mouth shut and have people think you're stupid, than to open it and remove all doubt. - By Mark Twain.'' It's about you...

  • Comment removed

  • Evil death monkey.Your time will come.An evil black heart like yours will be punished.Live your evil ways now because your days will soon end.One more thing, really intelligent name to go by.

  • @beachintl1 lol.. At least the other had the intelligence to react to the content of my comments. You just spew nonsense.. nice and shallow of you to judge me by my screen name.

  • 1:04

Instead of shooting in the air i would shoot at the attackers

  • Comment removed

  • @PepsiTasteLikeCoke The missionaries didn't want to shoot them. A big message of this movie was when the tribal members say that "we speared them, but they didn't shoot us". The missionaries gave up their lives to save the eternal lives of the tribe members.

  • @ThinkCassie ahh i see

  • @evildeathmonkey1 Really? All I can say is WOW

  • @evildeathmonkey1 Not just Christians but normal human morals would consider a genocidal Pointy Branch wielding murderer to be just a little bit more of a freak than a human with a peaceful religion

but you don't need to worry there are plenty of famous individuals like you, Hitler, Kim II Sung, Stalin

.Also those Genocidal anti Christian rapist/killers you would love all across Africa that the UN have to put up with

  • @SabreWolferos Hitler was a Christian dummy. And peaceful religion? kind of an oxymoron isn't it? like cold fire, or a non child raping catholic priest. What has religion EVER brought us but misery, poverty and bloodshed. Talking to your imagination real hard , what you call ''praying'', doesn't get you anywhere. And those idiots in Africa are killing and raping IN THE NAME OF RELIGION! And don't act like they're all Muslims either. ''Army of the lord'' ring a bell? yup, they're Christians.

  • @evildeathmonkey1 Hitler a Christian? R u for real? Do you just believe anything? Do some research man! If you want to know what a Christian is supposed to be, look at Jesus. Your hatred is nothing compared to His love for You. That's why Christians like Corrie Tern Boon and Dietrich Bonhoeffer opposed him. When you read his writing it was very clear what he was; a secularist. He even used Darwinian evolution to prove his belief in the superiority of the Aryan race and the destruction of others.

  • @berean700 ''Do you believe anything?'' That's a funny thing to say for a person that believes a 2000 year old fairytale book contains the only and ultimate truth. Luther was a secularist too, so that makes him a non-Christian in your eyes? Many communists also opposed Hitler and they were atheists. Your point is? The Nazis did anything they pleased, plausibility was no obstacle for them. Much like religious people don't see an obstacle in lack of evidence.

  • @evildeathmonkey1 Come on... the LRA in North Africa is not CHRISTIAN. they represent nothing of the Christ following faith. it is not a relationship with Christ you condem - but rather empty religion that has not the mind and heart of Christ. these missionaries gave their life so others would hear and know the TRUTH! Some of their wives returned and lead many of them to Christ. And a relationship to Christ changed their evil ways. follow me on twitter: ready4revival...

  • @maceven12 Religion is rotten to the core. I went to a catholic school. I can tell you it wasn't pretty. Religion is repressive by nature, and that attracts the wrong people. And of course there are good christians too, my neighbours are very religious, but they are extremely friendly.

I probably feel as strongly that you are being mislead, as you believe that I am.

I apologise for my earlier comment, I overreacted, of course I would never kill anyone over religion.

  • @evildeathmonkey1 Jesus is not religion your experiences at the Catholic school have nothing to do with what Jesus did for you on the cross, everyone who becomes a Christian doesn't do what Jesus told them, to walk in love, even when you are hated. God gave a pardon to everyone the same, if they will accept Jesus, Jesus gives them a pardon from their sins so they don't have to go to Hell, because all were sinners, that doesn't mean He talks over their will.

  • You must know that God is Spirit, and those who worship Him worship Him in spirit, and in truth, say Jesus is lord, and I believe Jesus died on the cross, and arose from the dead, so you can go to Heaven, don't blame God for the misakes of a person. I know that an experience in your youth can sour you towards someone, but then deal with the person who did it to you, don't blame God who loves you, and brought you though it to this point where you are blessed inspite of the evil done do you.

  • You are angry, anger is not always truth, it blinds more then it gives truth, if you are not angry based from the truth. You must give your heart to Jesus, you need to say Jesus is lord, and I believe Jesus died on the cross for my sins, and arose from the dead. This is the only way for you to go to Heaven, this is what it is all about, satan is after your soul so He made you hate God, by using a person who claimed to be of Him, they may have been a true Christian or not, but they have a will.

  • @Gowardh You tell me that I should be open to ''God''. I have read the bible, I don't believe in it but it has some merit. But let me extend an invite to you in return, an invite to rationalism. You come across as a person of intellect. Please, even if it is just to prove me wrong and strengthen your own believe, go to a book store and pick up a copy of Richard Dawkins' ''the God delusion'' and read it(Don't let the title put you of). No hate and no sarcasm intended here, I mean it.

  • @evildeathmonkey1 Okay but you read one also... take your pick: The Case for Christ, or The Case for Faith both by Lee Strobel. Lee was once an atheist, who set out to disprove his wife's religion. in all his work and research he became convinced.

My friend, please do not allow your experience at that school to keep you from a relationship with Christ. God through Christ does not want to repress you. On the contrary he made you and formed you and He has a design for your life.

  • For instance if someone steals my identity on the computer and orders the death of 11 people, do you think the children of those dead people will take the time to find out if I was the one, or would they just vent their anger at me. Well they should take the time to find out was this my intention did I hire the hitman, before they attack me, but chances are they will act on emotion, and hurt. this is what the devil does, He manipulates emotion, getting you away from the Bible.

  • @evildeathmonkey1 How vile a thing to say. Repent or perish. Jesus is the good shepperd. The King of Kings. He gave his life so you can be made roght with God. Vile remark repent.

  • @evildeathmonkey1 You are the one who will die early for speaking such evil words against Jesus Christ you are with those who hollered crucify Jesus and cursed themselves. Do you want to go to Hell so bad that you hate those who preach grace to you? Jesus hung on a cross, let people beat Him, spit on Him for your crimes against God, but you mock Him, and say you want to kill His messengers, do you want God to send you to Hell so bad, do you want to die in your sins this bad?

  • @evildeathmonkey1 Why even look this video up if you just going to mock the people that actually died

  • @evildeathmonkey1 Seriously? I can tell by your name itself that you're big on advancing humanity. And we're supposed to be closed minded and hateful? Wow.

  • @JosephEsposito lol... how typical of you. ''I can tell by your name alone''. Yes, because youtube screennames are such great indicators of a persons character, morals and values. Dumbass.

  • @evildeathmonkey1 You know, it's amazing how we are always called intolerant, and bigots, haters, and so many other names, yet, what hateful things do we do or say? I didn't call you anything offensive. Yet I'm the one being called names here. Everything on that clip you commented on was motivated by LOVE. Yet, we're the ones who don't want to advance humanity, or prevent it's advancement?

  • @evildeathmonkey1 Do you know the story behind those "savages"? They were so hostile toward the white man because of our "advancement of humanity" by going into their jungles, killing, destroying, and pillaging, to get oil and other resources. But Christians, motivated by nothing more than love for a people that most would spit on, went in there, to make a difference. And then you, of all people, blame us and make the comments that you make.

  • @evildeathmonkey1 You really think your mindset is good for the advancing of humanity? That is the mindset of Hitler, Stalin, Lenin, and others: Exterminate those who prevent the advancement of humanity (namely, communism, or Arianism, or socialism). Look at the Soviet Union, and Germany, and others throughout history with your way of thinking - and tell me of ONE that advanced humanity.

  • @JosephEsposito The soviets union put the first man in space. Btw, Lenin never intended for anyone to be exterminated, his motivation was to free his people from a dictator. As for Hitler, it can be argued that he did all he did out of love for the German people. His convictions were wrong, much like yours, but he did what he thought was right non the less.

What has Christianity EVER done? Except crusades, mass rape of children and discourage the use of condoms, basically promoting aids.

  • @JosephEsposito And plunging the world into a 1000 years of stagnation. It's not called the dark ages for nothing. Then when Cortez came to the Americas, what did he do? Love the indians? nope, he murdered them all, for ''god''. And I know what you are thinking: ''oh he's wasn't a true Christian.'' Maybe not, be he used religion as an excuse to do what he did, and people let him get away with it because of it. THAT is what is wrong with religion. People stop thinking for themselves.

  • @JosephEsposito Religion on a personal level can be positive, I agree with that. I can be comforting to believe someone loves you and watches out for you. But is so easy to manipulate and abuse for evil. I believe it was Lenin who once said: ''Religion is the opium of the masses''. And he was right. trough out history it has been abused as a crowd control. It is harmful because we stop looking for the ''why'' in the world.

  • @evildeathmonkey1

    Hi there, if I may...

Science also provides no why, only how. Spirituality and philosophy alone regard the why.

Anyway, the post industrial age has witnessed horrors and destruction on a scale never before witnessed in the history of mankind, much in the name of progress. Excuses aside, is that an indictment of the modern spirit of progress and science?

IMO what you're really railing against has less to do with religion and more to do with the human condition.

  • @lowenklee I disagree, yes, we have seem destruction on a scale never seen before. But, we have also seen incredible amounts of progress in medicine and political theory. Religion is fear, fear of the things we don't know yet. It is a way of comforting ourselves, but it makes us, as humanity, complacent and stalls any real progress. This is the age of rationalism, religion is by definition irrational. What bothers me so much is the self-righteousness of religions like Christianity.

  • Comment removed

  • @evildeathmonkey1 i agree with u there is nothing more dangerous than the self rightiousness of christianity. christianity is just a tool used to conquer the world.

  • @JosephEsposito Btw, I never meant to offend anyone. I posted that comment to get reactions and start a discussion. And it worked.

  • More importantly, no matter what you believe, or how much you may hate me or people like me, is the fact that there is a God in heaven, who loves you. There is a heaven and a hell, and because of the sin of humanity, man is subject to hell for eternity to pay for it. But, we don't have to go there. If we do, it's by our choice. In the Bible, it shows us some simple things we need to understand in order to avoid that punishment for what we've done. If you care feel free to shoot a reply.

  • @evildeathmonkey1 what kind of sick mother fucker says this just to start a discussion and get reactions? hell your getting some reactions alright.

  • @keenansplanet They're called trolls.

  • @evildeathmonkey1 Man, Im gonna pray for you.

  • @evildeathmonkey1 You, my friend, need prayers. Remember that even we also have feelings and slandering us won't make you look any better. Christianity, also, is a relationship with Jesus Christ. It is not a religion. I won't slander or attempt to bring you down, but I hope one day you can experience God's love. It is awesome and I can promise you that you will have no regrets when you get to know Him. Trust me! You'll find true happiness and peace through Him. I wish you a happy life! :)

  • @PinayCosplayer Christianity is hardly self-righteous, the self righteous attitude comes from the people who claim to follow it. Christianity is, when its rules are actually followed, not a hindrance to technological advancement at all. you want to accelerate our technological advancement? try getting people to stop believing in a moral code, I promise you science will really go then just like it did when Hitler was waging his silly war against the Jews and everyone else he didn't like.

  • @PinayCosplayer Accurate or inaccurate, Christianity is one of many religions that provide an answer to questions that some people cannot help but have, you may not care about the afterlife but some people do and it is just part of the way their brains process data. right or wrong it is all about self satisfaction in the end just like when you go to a funeral for someone you cared for. you should study religions from a scientific stand point if you really wanna understand why they exist.

  • @PinayCosplayer christianity is a religion dumbass. also its a false religion becuase its a lie. the new testament was created by the romans who fabricated the fake bible version of jesus. the real jesus did not preach that he was the son of God. Christ is not a name its a title that means ascended spiritual master. every human being has the ability to become a christ. jesus was not a God or son of a god he was just an regular man who has achieved spiritual enlightenment.

  • @timberlandtim1 LMAO! What a moron you are!!!

  • @thegorn68 for which comments of mine are u laughing at and for which comments of mine are u calling me an idiot for so i can properly respond to your reply. thanx

  • @evildeathmonkey1 Actually Jesus was a carpenter

  • whats the song? i cant find it

  • Comment removed

  • This is what should happen to the vast majority of missionaries. What a shame that that tribe is now "Christian" . . . whatever that means. I am confident that their lives were better before being contaminated by Western society, and delusional religious memes.

  • @Famespeare These people were killing off their own race. The violence within that community was unheard of. If they would have kept on like they were, there would be no Waodani today.

  • Very good.

  • DAMN HOT !!

  • Wow I love this movie. God is great yeah all you people who are like bloody savages your the savage for wanting to kill the Indians they thought they were doing right yes I know they were very wrong but that is the beauty of forgivness god gave us his son knowing that we would sin again god loves us and those men died honoring god and are eternal paridise with him John 3:16 read it please!!!

  • WOW I'm gonna watch this movie with some friends when we go campin tommorow and we are gonna watch it with some future (opefully) Girlfriends

    Looks nice for now

  • Umm... you dont watch movies when you go camping....

  • Very amazing film, highly recommended. Seems like it is available on youtube.. ;)

  • Quem gosta de um bom filme tem que assistir, é lindo emocionante!

  • When I used to go to church, they played this movie. I coulden't stop laughing and I felt so bad.

  • I have visited the Waorani myself, and it was such an amazing experience. It's so beautiful what God has done with them.!

  • Remindsme of Sea Dayak Tribe in Borneo island.

  • The Waorani are now Christians. This segment of the film shows one of the big reasons behind their conversion.

  • Score one for the good guys.

  • @RadioGibbon

the killers are now Christians. Yeah score one for the winners

  • Christians sure are easily impressed by bad movies.

  • Kill all the white people.

  • if your some looney tribesman them what are you doing on youtube, should you be dancing around a bonfire in your underwear or sumthin?

  • @mnms1717 They converted me to Christianity and now I spend my days posting on free republic, fox news forums, youtube

  • ooooooo, sry,lol, well good for u!

  • serves 'em right

  • Kill whitey

  • fisterB is allways right. Be a grown up and keep your believes to yourself.

  • Motilones.... thanks for pointing them out. Another sad sad story.

  • fisterB: "Motilones.... thanks for pointing them out. Another sad sad story. "

What's so sad about the Motilones, Mr. fisterB?

You have not answered that simple question?

  • (1) Why is it illegal to make contact with the Sentinelese?

    (2) In what ways were they different/similar to the Waoranis?

    1) Isolated people have no defense against trivial infections, like common cold. Any new infection can be a deadly plague spreading in their community. We knew that even in the 50'es. So Jim and his gentlemen brought death to the entire tribe more effectively than if he had attacked them with a machine gun.

  • fisterB: "Isolated people have no defense against trivial infections"

If this is the case, then why didn't the Waoranis die off when some of the missionaries' families decided to live among them?

  • Mr. fisterB, you did not explain exactly how or in what ways the missionaries were criminal.

  • Yes, but I will again in a totally different way.

We still have the Sentinelese totally untouched.

Even I feel the spirit of adventure, excitement and the urge to get to know them and teach them our ways. The crime is, that it will wipe them out, as has happened elsewhere so many times before.

The Indian goverment has recognized this and the need to leave them alone. So now it is against the law.

  • I ask again. Mr. fister. In what ways the missionaries criminal towards the Waorani. You have not answered that. This is not a discussion of the Sentinelese.

  • >This is not a discussion of the Sentinelese.

I made it into a discussion of the Sentinelese.

As a comparison. Now you are going to handle that if you can.

Is it any different for other tribes? Look at the results.

The Sentinelese are only interesting because it is not too late.

  • fisterB: "I made it into a discussion of the Sentinelese."

That will be fine with me. If you want to steer the discussion to a different venue, I am most happy to oblige.

    Tell me.

    (1) Why is it illegal to make contact with the Sentinelese?

    (2) In what ways were they different/similar to the Waoranis?

  • fisterB: "I made it into a discussion of the Sentinelese."

Is the youtube video documented herein focusing on the Sentinelese?

  • fisterB: "I made it into a discussion of the Sentinelese."

I'll play the game. I wanna make it a discussion of the MOTILONES. I bet you don't know too much about them.

  • So now it is officially criminal and harmful to make contact with this tribe and in retrospect it should have been all along.

They have killed people who tried to land on their beach. This is considered self protection and no prosecution for murder will follow. The families of the victims understand they were trespassing on the land of a protected tribe.

  • I understand the need christian people can feel to spread what they consider the truth. But that kind of truth is by no means universal and it is disputed very much by people like me even if you may feel angry towards us for that.

It is simply not good enough for me to promise that the natives will have a good afterlife when they are destroyed.

The Christians are a minority in this world and your missionaries are impoverishing what is also my world.

  • fisterB: "So now it is officially criminal.... to make contact with this tribe"

Come now. Show us the evidence as applicable to the Huaorani. What piece of legislation has the Ecuadorian government written that forbids contact with these Indians NOW in the present moment and back in the 1950s.

  • fisterB: "So now it is officially....harmful to make contact with this tribe"

Please explain how the current missionaries (the families and progenitors of the five men killed) are harming the Waoranis.

  • So my dear true believers in the one true faith, it is not all in the past, and this really is the root of my concern and what someone called my hateful poison:

What do we do with the Sentinelese, one of the last totally untouched tribes left in the entire world?

Do we really need to send the missionaries again and not learn from the past?

Because when we do, many of them will surely die and the rest can look forward to misery. Honestly, I don't know what we should do. Anyone?

  • I studied this incident a bit, these natives were pretty much fighting each other to near extinction, most of them didnt live past their 30s.

Ive been on mission trips to native villages in Panama, I do believe they need to hear the gospel(though Im not about to debate that), however I AM against going there to modernize them and change their culture.

  • And this movie is sentimental christian propaganda of the worst kind. I vommit at the way these criminal misionaries are portrayed as christian martyrs and the sound track is of course disgusting.

And then it rained and the family called. Yeah right.

Now if only the last remaining tribespeople on earth would be left alone and hopefully have the good sense to kill any stinking disease ridden missionaries at first sight, they may have a fighting chance to survive.

  • fisterB:

    "movie is sentimental christian propaganda"

Mr.fister, if the Christians depicted in the story are dead, where do you think the propaganda originated from?

  • fisterB:

"I vommit at the way these criminal misionaries"

How and in what way are the missionaries criminal?

  • >How and in what way are the missionaries >criminal?

An honest question. Did I explain it to your satisfaction in my other comments?

  • "fisterB:

"And then it rained and the family called. Yeah right."

So you doubt Gikita, Dawa and the rest of the Waorani Indians who were the only living witnesses of that fateful day?

  • It is obviouse that you have some issues, I don't understand why you would want to watch a christian vid and then spew your hate.....you gotta understand that these men wanted to help the people and were so hopeful and were murdered because of a lie against the white man, I am a Cherokee decendent, my GGG Grandmonther was on the Trail of Tears, but the past is past, I look only to my future. And hating is posion to my soul and not worth it. Think about it.

  • @honeygoes247.

Thank you for explaining but I already know about that perspective. If you believe in the christian version of afterlife and that the Bible is the true word of God it all makes sense and these people are martyrs even in the light of the disastrous consequences of cultural assimilation. Because the heathens must be 'saved'.

  • But not everybody believes the afterlife is real and I prefer to concentrate on the facts of this life. And I know first contact is a bad day for the weaker culture, there is no exception, at all, whatsoever, to that. This includes the Cherokee.

The Tasmanian aborigininals for example, totally gone, the Onke almost extinct and the list goes on and on. They succomb to disease exploitation or downright slaughter and the survivors end up downmost in the modern life.

  • So I think these missionaries should contemplate the risk of getting speared and all the things that go wrong when you interfere with a culture you don't understand. And first of all I think they should Stay At Home.

Cultural diversity is valuable, we don't need to westernize everything, and , to someone else, the christian faith has no more right to exist than whatever these people believe in the first place.

  • fisterB : "Because the heathens must be 'saved'."

Mr. fister, concerning the "heathens" under discussion....what was the homicide rate in that particular part of the world? Looks like you know a lot about that culture.

  • I have already touched upon that subject.

It was their way of life and no matter how much we dislike it we have no right to change it.

We are very good at killing each other in our culture as well; we have a lot of sophisticated and monstrous macinery with no other purpose. So their really is no moral high ground to preach from.

And finally, they were not about to go extinct. It is just a somewhat unpleasant way of remaining strong by eliminating the weak and keeping their numbers low.

  • fisterB : "It was their way of life"

What was their way of life? You gave no answer as to their homicide rate.

  • >What was their way of life? You gave no answer as to their homicide rate.

To kill at a moments notice, like many other human cultures including yours, though you may deny or claim better principles in theory. Their homicide rate may have been very very high, as high as needed to continue to exist for tens of thousands of years in an area that can only support a limited number of hunter-gatherers.

That is a way to exist otherwise they wouldn't be there.

  • fisterB: "Their homicide rate may have been very very high, as high as needed to continue to exist for tens of thousands of years in an area that can only support a limited number of hunter-gatherers."

So you approve of human beings murdering each other? You don't care about defenseless crying babies and uncared for orphans, the prevention of rape or infanticide, the alleviation of human suffering, or helping of the weak and down-trodden?
