  • of course that everything can be destroyed because it is from this planet, if it is some other material from other planet, here it may be undestroyable

  • really informative and interesting

  • If I'm ever caught on a bridge during a strong earthquake and it survives, I will send the engineers a fruitbasket.

  • I wouldn't be scared of the bridge doing that but just scared of what ever might be in that water you know

  • I live in front of that bridge and it shakes even with trucks, but not strong like the video.

  • were is magneto

  • but will it blend?

  • WooooooooooooooooOooooooooooooooowooooooooOoooooooo!!

  • i hate rocky roads

  • i hate stairs

  • I hate pensil bridges ¬¬

  • That's one tough bridge!

  • @JJtoob The Streetlight bent, but the Bridge still stand, that I call nice engineering.

  • Bog te mazo kakav je ovo užas? Prestrašno!

  • CHUCK NORRIS WAS WEIGHT LIFTING ON THE BRIDGE. THAT WHY...

  • Thanks auronlu! My father and uncle had a company. They built the bridge over Baker river and I think this too (they're so similar). They are civil constructors from the Universidad de Santiago (USACH), graduated in 1960, the same year of the great earthquake of Valdivia, Chile (9.5 richter). They had great masters, who built many public buildings during 40' and 50' decades.

  • Repent, Pray! God Bless you.

  • that wasnt an earthquake, that was chuck norris walking across the bridge

  • @appleman1324 no, tarzan

  • @appleman1324 yeah norris walked over it, but those sounds and shaking u saw and heard were Jack Bauer kicking hi ass..

  • @elway0798 hahahaha definitely, dont fuck with bauer

  • 22 people didn't like the light pole falling down

  • @viper100200 Fail

  • Interesting to know whether there was a fault line where the river is?

  • Hmmmmmmmm...looks familiar.

    :P

  • thats what a suspension bridge is supposed to do, is absorb the bumbs so it doesnt stay ridgid and shatter into two

  • Seriously, there is no such thing as an indestructible structure, especially when confronting the forces of nature.

  • Im half Chilean and i say.Well, will you look a that! Its Amazing, this Chilean engineering! (I know its been mentioned before) :D

Also with the big eartquake last time. How many buildings collapsed?

  • @simsfreak555 just one (taking into account that the Feb. 27 earthquake stroke about a 1000 km of Chilean territory); although there were many buildings that got severely damaged...but they didn't collapse

  • @IVEGOTAHARDONBEER Well thats Awesome :D

  • Impressive, and that applies to the sounds it makes aswell.

  • that is so crazy... :o

    I live in Denmark

Earthquakes never happend here.... so this is so crazy for me to watch :o

  • @chrissn yeah it's something crazy xD, i'm chilean and i hadn't felt in my life a quake my first one was the 8.8 one xD.. now i got used to them afther all of that afthershocks xDD

  • I feel bad for anyone on that bridge must of bin the most terrifying thing ever

  • WHOA!! Amazing Engineering Chileans!! We need ur engineering expertise in California!~Dont know what I would've done if I had ben on that bridge, if walking I might've jumped off!~Great video & thanks for sharing it w/us!

  • huh i cant tell, the camera was shaking as well -__-

  • @BetterBillieveIt obviusly... try to stand well on an earthsquake.. its difficult :)

  • if i see well in the video, the bridge have "plastic" moves, and hold on the earthquake, but im not there to see if the bridge is safe 100%

  • is this what's gonna happen to the Golden Gate Bridge?! O___O

  • omg i would have cry like a little girl

  • fuck

  • Let that be a lesson: flexibility is often more important a quality than strength.

  • scribd (dot) com/nb812

  • no thanks

  • cool

  • wow that is scary ive never bin in an earth quake but i will be under water for 2012 florida sucks right now :(

  • @DOOMNIGHT74 lol you belive in 2012 bullshit ahahaha...

  • pretty impressing

  • @Anintendofan99 that's good,... you know that it's stay up

  • Wow.

  • @Time4u2Believe

ikr?I hope 2012 does happen bc this world is evil and we need our Creator now more that ever!

  • I <3 engineers

  • r u shure it wasent a reely fat american tourest trying to walk

  • @seseas this is win

  • @seseas no it was your mother on the way back from the abortion clinic

  • beautiful. perfect design and construction. just steel and bolts

  • @puihua75

Yup!! and the Americans are there to study it. US engineers study Chile earthquake to bolster California building codes

Since the Chile earthquake, dozens of US engineers have visited Santiago and other affected cities to study the failures and successes of building codes here. They say it provides valuable insights for California. "This earthquake overall can be considered a success in terms of the engineering and construction practices in Chile," Mr. Maffei says.BTW I'm here :((

  • @ceresxx99 Our anti-quake building codes are primarily based on the Japanese engineering.

  • this is truly very good designing.

it survived an earth quake, and stayed in one piece!

  • @DedmonStudios in chile have good constuction for the earthquake

  • @liyuancheachea u got that right!

  • did not... that light post fell over

  • @SuperTripleGoose who cares, those are like what? maybe 200 dollars?

  • @DedmonStudios if one goes out the whole thing goes out

  • @Konnor140 Depends on the wiring, but i do agree with u.

  • Chilean buildings are made to resist at least an 8.0º Mw eartquake, because chilean legislation forbids to do otherwise.

This 8.8º earthquake was strong enough to surpass our quake-defences, nevertheless many buildings are unharmed.

  • oooohh that didnt look good

  • lol my last name is Ibañez

  • so hatia had a 7.4 earthquake and were helping but yet chile had an 8.8 and were not heloing them

  • It's just a fat person jumping in the middle

  • hahahaha

  • Wow. I bet it stayed up during the 8.8 too.

I know Chile is having a really bad time of it now and I pray for everyone to get the help they need, but at the same time -- I am SO impressed by Chilean engineering.

I live in Southern California, and I've been through a few pretty good shakers (a few 5s, one 7.2) -- but I think we'd have trouble with anything bigger than 7 in an urban area. I doubt most of our freeways/high rises can weather an 8+.

  • @auronlu ???????? ¿qué tiene de sorprendente?

  • @auronlu it's weird how you mentioned that you been in a 7.2 earthquake. just yesterday there was a 7.2. and your comment is 3 weeks old.

  • @auronlu wow, didnt you just get one about a week after this comment..

  • @auronlu

i don't think we have many fault lines within 100 miles of us

i barely felt the easter earthquake and i live in san diego, which was about 140 miles from the quake epicenter

our freeways could probably withstand an 8.0 because of the integral structure of the earth below us

the coronado bridge? I'm not too sure, but I sure as hell wouldn't want to be on it with an 8.0 taking place

  • @auronlu 7.2? The Baja one? I was at Knott's Berry Farm when that hit. I wasn't on a ride at the time but yeah I felt it. They stopped all the rides and the park evacuated. It later opened back up though. 5? The 5.5 on July 29th, 2008? Yeah I felt the full force of that one. My decision on which way to run saved me because my first thought of where to run was where a huge clock fell off the piano. Yup I remember these things.

  • Comment removed

  • @auronlu The 8.8 was felt there, but at around 5 MMI (soft) Pto Aisen is more than 1200 km from the zone of the epicenter, and yes the bridge is afaik, still there.

  • madalas na ang paglindol dito sa mundo..

  • That was scary man !!

  • Concrete and brick are unacceptable building materials in earthquake prone areas.

Sure costs are a huge consideration, but cutting costs at the expense of human lives is not a fair trade.

Engineers and governments should pay attention to flexible steel frame structures that can withstand earthquakes on a regular basis.

  • you're right error240, if the dezastre is not happen in sua it's not a problem, even it's happens in chile or any poor place all over the word. i'm really sorry for chile, and i can't image what the chilians feel

  • fake

    Aweonao .l.

  • In Chile quakes are happening all the time. Our land is very bad tempered. Only last year we had 2 volcanos in action and some 3 small quakes. Government and population is well aware on how to deal with this and casualties are usually lower than in other areas exposed to these kind of phenomena. Despite the strong emotional content of news reports, Chileans sem to stay cool at these things, knowing what to do and getting back on business quickly.

  • yea i have a friend in Chile and she always tells me "hoy temblo" she explain to me that Chile is on top of many tectonic plates that hit on each other very often.....But it seams the one that happen yesterday was the worst in 50 years...My friend lives in Valparaiso and i have lost contact with her i just wish she's ok

  • Yes, it was the worst since 1960.

Most casualties were in Concepcion, Talcahuano and small coastal villages some 300 miles S of Valparaiso.

Hope you can get in touch with your friend ASAP.

  • I just did!! and she's ok! her house is earthquake proof, so she's alright!!! thanks god :D

    thanks

  • Karma wil come and fkn hit you homo !:(

  • Thank God for the earthquake in Chile. 214 dead! We wish it were 214,000. Thank God for dead Chileans!

  • @GodHatesYouPeople

Thank God for your limited lifespan.

  • I'm quite disappointed in your comment.

I was hoping for a witty comeback, not a lame supposition my 7 year old brother would make up.

  • hahahahahahahahah in mexico the 2% of pple uses drugs in USA [been there] all the 4-to college and even after that use drugs! so WHO'S DYING AT 11?? YEAH UR PPLE! and who's playing the choking game YEAH UR STUPID PPLE HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH U GUYS ARE SOOOOO DUMB!

    Thank God for dead Mexicans.''

  • Are you finished ranting now? I could come to your country & find things wrong there too, but I do not because that is a Human flaw and I know for a fact that I couldn't judge you by a few in your country any more than you could in mine. It is a given that the bad news always gets noticed the most. Your ranting only make you look at stupid as your accusations. I hope you can see the light. Why not extend a hand of friendship instead of a rant of accusations?

  • im so so so sorry you took it that way i didnt meant to be rude with anyone but the ''GodHatesYouPeople'' dude

  • Apology accepted :-) ty

I left him a "nice note" too

  • i hope when you go to sleep your fucking ceiling collapses on top of you and since no one gives 2 shits about your life you stay there forever. If you were in front of me and said that...i would beat the living shit out of you..and again since no one cares about your life...you would be just another number.

  • @GodHatesYouPeople let me ask you this what would happen if you died would you make fun of yourself

  • Basura

  • GodHatesYouPeople: Thanks mate...Hoping the best for you too...

What is me, watching a Haitian , Chilean or Minnessottan family watching their houses broken down after a quake/tornado, is equally sad. We're all humans, and we all work hard to pay our bills.

  • It was awful look my last favourite video

  • parece de pelicula :s

  • wow

  • tell that to 15 million people and 1.5 million homes in the grounds.

  • I was dreaming about the eruption of a volcano in my town Mexico, I wake up and turn on the tv. at 3:30 and saw the news.

  • my father had a dream that a a big tsunami killed me. funny, he wakes up with 2 earthquakes in the news

  • scary

  • que miedo, se mueve horrible

el que estaba ahi salio disparado XDDD

  • @AyaneZen

se fue a la chucha akjakjaj

  • That is sooo scary. Wishing for the best possible. -Author Diana Neiderhiser.

  • Chileans engineers are the best

  • They make awesome chile!!!!

  • damm it was a fuking nightmare when this started D:!!

  • @Entirehappy

Japan had an earthquake yesterday as well as Chile. Japan's earthquake was 7.3 and Chile's was 8.8 in magnitude. These are scary times.

  • hell yea , i live in chile / vina del mar we had 7,5 in magnitude . i live in the 5th floor of my apartment , scary

  • @TuningFreak23

Was your apartment damaged? What are you going to do? I noticed that when the recent earthquake hit in Haiti, people were too afraid to go back to their houses and they slept outside. Is it the same way in Chile?

  • Yes it is, but because of some houses are not safe to go in. There is like 1.5 million homes in the ground.

  • @error204

Does Chile have a red cross that they can go to? I am in Las Vegas NV and it is still winter time here. Is it warm enough for the people to sleep out in the parks if they had to? I am praying for Chile and all it's citizens. God bless

  • Chile is a well prepared country its economy its well maintain, They are not as poor as other Latin countrys. They are a well stabilized Country. Im sure they are well prepared.

  • You may be right, but nobody is prepared for losing nearly one thounsand of own countryfellows. or part of own family.

Perhaps they were doing well with exports to the Falkland Island, USA, England and other countries, but still, is a great loss. I am sad for chilean people. Is so sad to see all their building ruined. God bless Chile!

  • Yes red cross and bomberos, carabineros and chilean army are doing their jobs. Yes is still warm, thank God, although temperatures are lower that one or two weeks ago.

I think the replica is coming, it has not stoped since the mayor movement.

I saw a wave of concrete surfing my street. Wicked.

    Blessings.

PD: there r many poor people, but we're not as poor as other countries. The quake was so big that the damage is because of that and not because of poorly buildings, even though there r some.

  • @error204

If we had that same earthquake here in Las Vegas NV, we would be really messed up. They build the houses so close together if one falls, we all fall. Plus the houses here are built very cheap and most of us do not have earthquake insurance. God bless you guys and I hope those aftershocks stop soon.

  • Yup, well, since Las vegas is not and a "Hot Zone" there is no need for it to be Earthquake safe, here in Chile i think there is no earthquake insurance, and if there are, poor people won't take it. Rich people doesn't need it.

    thanks for the preocupation.

    Blessings.

  • "...there r many poor people, but we're not as poor as other counries..."

No entiendo a esas almas!

    Saludos
