Many studies were done, the earliest studies put the numbers incredibly high, although no academic studies put the number as high as 1 million, the highest I saw was 600 000. The latest and most extensive studies put the number at around 90 000 -200 000. That's official Iraqi government and WHO figures, and closer to Bush's numbers, than yours. The leading cause of death was execution (by shi'a or Al-Qaeda death squads, the people the anti-war movement wanted to surrender to)

Bush on many occassions said Islam was a religion of peace, and praised the American Muslim community, but did not say his primary concern was to protect women's right to wear hijab (he spoke of women's rights in the mid-east instead), he also never said Jerusalem would remain undivided, he instead pushed negotiations, and he mentioned Jesus less times in 8 years, than Obama did in 8 months.
